Fantastic experience: The Young Drivers online/self-pace education programme was an excellent course and a lot came down to my in car instructor Ken Kelleher who was an excellent, super motivated and knowledgeable instructor. Immediately after Ken´s classes I passed my G2 exams with compliments. I’ve since been driving in Ottawa for almost a year, and I feel the knowledge and helpful advice I gained from the course and Ken’s instruction will keep me safe (and others) on the roads.

Fantastic experience: Barry was a wonderful, informative and very knowledgeable instructor. He was able to explain and teach very clearly throughout all 5 lessons. This was especially helpful as new, nervous driver, to maintain a calm environment and safely begin to navigate higher speed roads and highways. Now, driving and taking road tests is much much less intimidating. Thanks!!

Fantastic experience: As a student who passed the G2 road test on my first try, I would like to give a huge thanks for my instructor, John Glasgow, for helping me pass the G2. He is humble, straightforward, and uses mnemonics (i.e. "Mirror, mirror, blind spot, look ahead" for lane changing) to make learning any low speed maneuver easier to remember. He is calm and keeps his cool; even if I made inadvertent, non-fatal mistakes, at least he corrects me on them and advises me without suddenly yelling, so I wouldn't feel down and know to improve for next time comfortably. I would also like to thank Barry Caplan for guiding me the basics, and Ken Kelleher for giving me a first-time experience driving on the highway and performing evasive maneuvers. Ken is manly, motivational, and wants his students to man up., but at times he can be harsh and uncomfortable to roll along with. For example, Ken and I went over an emergency braking practice (twice). He warned me about him using a loud and aggressive tone of voice to shout "MIRROR! STOP!", so I was prepared to listen and bare with. For my first try, I used nearly all my might to slam on the brakes, he yelled at me "BABY. You gotta slam on the brakes harder." which for my second try, to impress Ken I learnt to slam on the brakes with full force. Although now that I knew what it really feels like to emergency brake, him yelling "BABY" at me felt insulting and unnecessary.

Negative experience: The in class portion was ok but the road practice portion takes several months once the course has been completed. Also often times in December through the holidays my daughter was scheduled for practice and it was canceled at the last minute causing further delays in her completing her hrs. I am disappointed in the way the program is managed today.

Fantastic experience: Great place, fun activities, lots of great advice from instructors. Learned a lot and had no trouble with the final test.

Fantastic experience: As a person who struggles with driving anxiety, I can honestly say that Young Drivers made a huge difference in helping me. My instructor, Ken Kelleher, was absolutely great. He knew exactly how to help me - encouraged and motivated me when I needed it most. When I made a mistake, he didn’t make me feel like an incompetent driver. He would remind me that the importance of mistakes is learning from them, and this will make me a better driver down the road. To put the YD approach into perspective - when I first got my G1, I told my parents that it would be years until I felt comfortable driving by myself or leisurely. Now, with my G2, I can proudly say that I enjoy driving around the city - I’ve even driven to the mall and movie theatre with friends… multiple times! All in all, I could not recommend Young Drivers, and especially Ken Kelleher, enough.

Fantastic experience: I wouldn’t recommend any other driving school, the in car instructor I had was awesome and was very patient with me. Cody, if you’re still around, thank you so much for helping me get my confidence back.

Notably and especially the help of Meagan Lowry who was able to help us navigate driving schedules given how busy everyone is these days. Patient and professional I feel like Meagan goes above and beyond to ensure that young drivers clients are satisfied.

Fantastic experience: When it comes to driver training, get the best and that is Young Drivers of Canada. The money you spend will be made back with reduced insurance premiuims and peace of mind. Specifically, Meagan does a great job with scheduling and somebody is there to answer the phone and e-mails. The online interface is great too in seeing the progress of your student.

Fantastic experience: Hello everyone, our daughter recently completed her YD course and I must say it was a very positive experience. She started YD with Tery Howard as her instructor, and Tery made her feel very comfortable while she learned how to drive. Tery helped her feel safe and confident (and has a great sense of humour) which seemed to make a big difference for her. When it came time to book a road test Meagan Lowry was very helpful/responsive and determined in scheduling the earliest possible appointment for us. Thanks Meagan and Tery!

Fantastic experience: I had the absolute best experience while scheduling my in car lessons with YD. My admin was Meagan Lowry. I had to request many changes to my schedule due to some special accommodations. Meagan was very understand and went out of her to adjust all of my requests and give me a flexible schedule in line with my day job and other restrictions. I'm looking forward to my classes in summer. I should mention I'm not a "young driver" and I signed up for the non-yd lessons. They are very flexible and mindful of your timelines.

Positive experience: I reviewed Young Drivers recently and found the owner very responsive and supportive when I had concerns. I appreciate businesses that are concerned about their standards and reputation. Having used YD myself I am hoping my kids also have the same quality education. They are ensuring the experience is a good one.

Negative experience: I appreciate the time this company has taken to explain how the model has shifted to virtual classrooms for the last 2 years- I simply ask that you be transparent to the customer that Ottawa locations are closed and that meeting with a live person for issue resolution is not possible at this time. I am saddened that so many systems have broken down in this country.

Positive experience: Sometimes misunderstandings happen....they fixed it that quickly. Very much appreciated

Negative experience: Teacher kept failing me back when I did the test on flimsy premises (saying I didn't have time to make a turn when the other car was far, far back) and just generally being mean and dickish. I remember him telling my parents that he thought I was on drugs (I wasn't). For what it's worth, I passed the driving test at my next school first try, passed my G2 first try, and passed my G first try. To this day I can parallel park perfectly and have never gotten in an accident with another vehicle. This was a money grab back then - maybe it's gotten better but I would never send my kids there.

Positive experience: Car lessons were good, my instructor Cody was very patient.

Fantastic experience: My son was accommodated with his schedule and physical disabilities at all times. The Instructor had a hand control car which i had had difficulty finding elsewhere. The instructor and staff were top notch. The individual instruction provided is invaluable. I would highly recommend for others who not only are beginning to drive but who may also just may need a refresher.

Fantastic experience: Made me a much better driver and got me ready for my G2 driving test.

Positive experience: The program is very well put together, staff are friendly and Driver’s are fantastic! Only downfall is the class space, its a little cramped and cold in the winter.

Positive experience: Excellent teaching, class was good but should consider having adult classes or let people know that they will be with teenagers in class . car lessons were great very patient teacher (Barry ) . always there to help when you need them . very happy with results

Fantastic experience: I had a great esperiance at young drivers. The course was great and the in car driving was even better. My instructor’s name was Cody Real. He was awesome and made me feel super comfortable in the car and on the road. Was very patient and made me feel confident behind the wheel. I’m done the course now and can’t wait to book my g2 test. Fantastic experience: As a more mature new driver, I was hesitant about taking a driving course – how I would fit in surrounded by young students in the classroom and how I would be judged behind the wheel during my training (I had just learned brake from gas when I started and was still reminding myself which was which!). I had heard horror stories about what instructors could be like with older students, but my instructor (Cody Real) emphasized the benefits of learning at a later age and had the perfect balance of patience, encouragement and coaching to give me what I needed to feel confident behind the wheel. He pushed me enough to keep making progress, but not so much that I would take on too much too quickly. I highly recommend additional lessons to practice with an instructor as well - I was even picked-up at the office during lunch breaks for the extra sessions! It was also a pleasant experience in the classroom – both the students and the instructor made me feel welcome and neither made me feel like it was anything unusual for me to be there. The office staff were of great assistance figuring out the best packages and the best schedule for my needs - they were very quick to respond to any inquiry. Young Driver’s was a wonderful experience overall, and I would recommend their courses to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but incredible things to say about Young Drivers! I was looking to get my G license after having my G2 for a few years, and Young Drivers was so helpful from the time I called to set up some lessons to the time I did my road test! I had Aaron as my instructor in Ottawa. He was such a great teacher, and really spent lots of time with me going over things that I was particularly nervous about (such as highway/freeway driving). Aaron and the rest of the team at Young Drivers were consistently patient, supportive and professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone! Thanks very much for all of your help!
