Negative experience: It's garbage

Negative experience: Tecnic imposes a fee of $60 for various reasons, particularly to those who cancel a course within 48 hours or who mute the computer (generally considered good practice). The instructor does not ask the student to activate the sound and fees are charged to their account. However, this practice is abusive. 'Any stipulation that imposes on the consumer, in the event of failure to fulfill their obligation, the payment of fees, penalties, or damages, whose amount or percentage is predetermined in the contract, other than the interest accrued' (RLRQ c. P-40.1, Art. 13). Moreover, 'one cannot derogate from this law through a particular agreement' (RLRQ c. P-40.1, Art. 261). 'Any stipulation reserving to a merchant the right to unilaterally decide that the consumer has failed to meet any of their obligations; that a fact or situation has occurred' (RLRQ c. P-40.1, Art. 11). Furthermore, although Tecnic's service offer includes 15 practical outings of 55 minutes on the road, they actually last between 30 and 45 minutes. 'A good or service provided must conform to the description made in the contract' (RLRQ c. P-40.1, Art. 40).

Positive experience: Charger $60 because your child did not plan (48 hours in advance) to be sick on the day of a practical class. Bravo! After discussion with Karen, we agreed that the situation was unpredictable and they accepted to refund the $60.
