1st Gear Motorcycle Training

Fantastic experience: Signed up late in the year so I was able to get a slight discount and a single day private lesson. Lee and Kiefer are amazing instructors, best thing I learned was to have confidence handling the machines. The bike selection is wide so you have plenty of styles to choose from, and the instructors focus on building up your skills and confidence so you don't get hung up on small mistakes. Well worth taking the course if you're a beginner!

Fantastic experience: I strongly recommend 1st Gear Motorcycle Training course. Lee and his team are top notch people. Melanie and Adam were very helpful. I went from never riding a bike to being comfortable with bike in the two days training session. Lee and Melanie were very patient and provided the needed feedback until I passed my MST test. I'm looking forward to join 1st Gear team for the group ride this coming spring. You will not be abandoned, they will stand by your side until you make it

Fantastic experience: I took motorcycles lessons with First Gear in September 2024. I had never even touched a motorcycle up until that point. I had Lee as the in-class theory instructor and Adrian for my parking lot lessons. The in class lessons teach you important life saving techniques and tips. They go over accidents and talk about how to avoid/prevent these types of accidents. Invaluable experience. As for the actual motorcycle lessons, you don’t even start the motorcycle until 2 hours into the lessons. They walk you through every step of the motorcycle. Extremely thorough and beginner friendly for someone who has never ridden before. My road ride was cancelled (due to the atmospheric river) and in replacement of that Lee gave me a private prep road ride test. I don’t think I would have passed my actual road ride test without his help. I can’t recommend First Gear enough, they are thorough, friendly, and amazing! If you are thinking about trying motorcycle riding, I highly recommend you take their lessons.

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience at 1st gear! The instructors were fantastic—patient, knowledgeable, and very encouraging. The classes are well-structured, and they take the time to explain everything clearly, from basic controls to road safety. The practice sessions give you plenty of time to get comfortable on the bike, and there is an opportunity to switch between different motorcycles. One think that I love is how flexible they are. At the beginning, it wasn't clear to me how to schedule the classes (after the basic skill test), but then I understood that they open the classes based on the weather conditions and the number of students. They also take care of booking the tests with ICBC, which saves plenty of time and delays. All in all, the business is ran by people with passion, who treat the students as future members of the riding community. This is a great beginning for anyone interested to get SAFELY into the motorcycling world! Thanks again to the team for such a positive experience!
