Fantastic experience: I had a great experience at CHEC training. From the team in the office/classroom to Dan at the pit i found everyone to be friendly and very helpful with any questions i had. Finished my classes/training feeling much more confident on each piece of machinery. I would highly recommend CHEC to anyone looking to move forward in a career in heavy equipment operation.

Negative experience: The heavy equipment program is absolutely worthless. Maybe in the past it was better but it's a total cash grab now. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. The "pit" is like a acre since the owner of the land is trying to make it farmland and took up most of the original pit. The machines are extremely old and will not equip you with the knowledge for any company that isn't operating back in the 90's. They will lie to you in the orientation with false statistics. They promise to make a resume for you but they will 100% lie about what you learned making you look like a liar on a work site. I recieved my resume and some of the stuff they put on it that they said I was competent at I had never done or was directed to do or taught to do. The books for the "observation" (funny how you don't actually observe anything) are torn to bits with pages missing. They even said for the week of in class learning they cut a significant portion of it to save time. Don't expect a job. You'll have to become a labourer and work your way up (unless you're a woman or a visible minority) which makes this school entirely pointless. Overall the heavy equipment college of Canada is a scam and should be driven out of business because it's a horrible institution. Nothing is redeemable about this place.

Positive experience: Just finished my heavy equipment on Wednesday and got a job Thursday. Chec is a great school for getting your basics on an excavator, bulldozer, motor grader and backhoe. You’re actually working in a working pit. So that in itself is good experience.Danny is a good and patient teacher for heavy equipment, with lots of honest feedback. Admin staff at chec are also kind and helpful.

Negative experience: Just because ones experience was bad doesn't mean someone else's will be. But I have to be true to myself and upfront and honest with my overall experience that I went through with my time as a student at Canada heavy equipment college. I can say at the least it was a very disappointing experience and overwhelming. I will not recommend or suggest to anyone to attend this college for many reasons which I will explain.... first off the school is not advertised as what it should be and what it is listed as, fake advertising!. It will leave you in a sudden disbelief and disappointment when you read what's advertised to when you get going and start school. Throughout my time students and are instructor had refused the right to unsafe work and stopped with operating machines due to industry safety standards which is a huge violation and risk to students. The machines we are talking about with big problems some safety issues are as follows brake & clutch not properly engaging with the road grader to stop the machine you had to rely and dig into the ground using the blade. The President (Dave) had a working road grader a Volvo which was sitting unused but hesitated and refused to bring it to the school so students could keep learning. Instead wanted us students to keep using the unsafe unfit grader until it completely gave out and was not drivable no more. Other stafty conditions with machines was horns or lights or singles not working no working Ac for the machines which causes discomfort to keep working in heat and limits are production and seat time in the machines froces us to take more breaks then we should. Even the heavy equipment college Mechanics and service Technicians deemed and stood up for machines being unsafe and unfit to be operating and not to have students keep driving them with the problems. The school was at a big standstill Throughout my time at the school it was being investigated with a Health & Safety inspector due too unsafe machines for us students to be properly trained on. The President Dave gow was all aware of these issues and it kept being a Continuous on going thing he never listened and put his foot down to do whats right and get the machines fixed so students could be safe and pursue their education in a professional environment and a safe environment. To me I see him as a business man who is nothing but a risk taker and a absolute scumbag scam. We are talking about life or death here it's not rocket science. You choose what's right and that's to run things safe. And fix anything that's not safe. The owner himself is cheap!.. this school needs to be shutdown... take your money somewhere else. Another thing to note as well is that the machines you learn and operate on are all different controls and are older pieces of equipment they don't have the newest up to date machines they aren't up to the newest technology. Which will leave to you having to learn the newer version of controls for the machines. The staff of the school are very un organized in terms of keeping track of hours and paperwork... for students. For example you have to have so many complete hours to graduate for practical & observation per machine. Well I kept track of my hours and always done a trill job of making sure my hours were updated after each day I updated based on what I was scheduled for if I did it I subtract it as less hours needed until i get to whats needed for hours. However it always seem that each and every new week of school I go into school thinking I be done or almost done on one piece of equipment And kept getting told one thing or another that I still owe hours... when I think I was done and my instructor sign me off being complete meaning im done on that machine. However that happens seems far fetch to me the staff are not all on the same page.

Fantastic experience: I just finished the Heavy Equipment Operator course. I can't say enough about all staff at this college. Every one of them were extremely helpful throughout the process. Any time I had questions, somebody was always there to answer them. I learned a ton from the online coursework as well as the hands-on training. I did a lot of research before deciding where to take this course, and I am so glad I ended up choosing this College as it was the best experience. I would highly recommend them to anybody that is interested in this course

Fantastic experience: I had a really great experience, while taking this program. I started off knowing nothing about heavy equipment, and now feel confident to go off and begin my career in this field. Tim and Dan and both very knowledgeable, and excellent trainers, they were always ready to help if I needed anything, gave very clear instructions, and would demonstrate how to do things if I asked I will definitely recommend this school to others, and I will be going back in the spring to take their AZ program.

Fantastic experience: Great opportunity to learn on the excavator , bulldozer , backhoe and grader ! Would recommend students watching all the training videos on the specific machine you are on before you head out to the site to learn. This will save you allot of time getting familiar with the machine and how it operates! The instructor Tim made me feel comfortable especially on my first week when I was new and nervous . Positive attitude from Tim made me want to be there and even when I made mistakes I was advised professionally on how to correct them! I'm glad I had this opportunity to learn on the equipment and am glad it was a positive experience and was given allot respect from Tim the instructor at this school! The office people were also great thanks to Cindy and Lindsay as well.
