Vachon School Driving Supérieure

Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed my experience. The theoretical classes were very comprehensive. I liked that the practical classes were with electric vehicles. The instructors are very friendly, which helps create a great overall experience. In short, I recommend this school for taking driving courses.

Negative experience: Unfortunately, I had a bad experience. I signed up in January 2022 to start my classes in July and thus obtain my learner's permit in August. There was radio silence at the end of June, so I called to inquire how it would work. I was told that they had changed systems, that my registration was untraceable, and it probably got lost between the two systems. The July group was, of course, full, but I was assured that I would start by September at the latest. Luckily, they found me a spot to start in August. The first 5 theoretical classes went well, and I obtained my probationary license at the end of September 2022. After that, there was radio silence; I had another theoretical class on December 5, 2022, but nothing else. I called and was told that I would soon have access to practical classes. In January 2023, I received an email asking for my availability, and that those available during the day would be contacted more quickly. I was never called back. In May 2023, I finally received an email telling me that I was eligible for practical classes and that I could book them online. However, there were only classes from 8 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday (they say there are classes until 4:30 PM, but I never saw any). I was in high school at the time, so I would have to miss classes to obtain my permit. I completed a course during my high school. I was finally able to start my classes when I got to CÉGEP (late August 2023), 11 months after obtaining my license. I am entitled to one class every 21 days... If I want more, I have to write to 'planif Lévis', which responds 1 out of 2 times. I managed to get 2 classes with less than 21 days apart after much effort. I called, and was told that nothing could be done, that's the system, period. At the beginning of January 2024, my contract will expire (17 months out of 18). I was told that I had not planned any classes for some time (I was waiting for my schedule at CÉGEP), so I was offered to break my contract. I refused since no other driving school wants me at this point. I ultimately had to renew my probationary license since it is valid for 18 months, and it took me 19 months to complete my practical classes and 20 months in total. The only positive point is that the instructors are good and kind. Another family member had a great experience at this driving school just 2 years ago; however, that was not my case.

Positive experience: My son Mattew completed his course in 15 and a half months, which seems acceptable to me. The only major complaint I have about Vachon school is their HUGE lack of availability for practical courses. Out of the 13 practical courses (there were two lasting 2 hours each), NO course could be conducted after 5:00 PM on weekdays or during weekends. In order to complete his practical courses, my son had to either miss school hours or be lucky enough to get a spot during a school break (which is very difficult). For me, it is inconceivable to have to choose between school or driving courses when our child is already struggling academically. At no time during the Zoom meeting at the beginning of the enrollment was it mentioned that no practical courses were offered in the evening or on weekends. We were told that the more available our child was, the faster he would finish his courses, but 'available' mostly meant being absent from school to complete his practical courses, a method I believe needs to be reconsidered. My other son, who chose Technic, also completed in 15 months and took all his practical courses in the evening and on weekends. I want to sincerely thank the receptionist Caroline for her immense kindness and professionalism; I have needed her help a few times, and she always knew how to advise and guide me well. Thanks also to the instructors who were very kind and respectful to my son.

Negative experience: In summary, my experience with Vachon driving school was disappointing. Their lack of professionalism in customer service, their disorganization, and their condescending attitude compromised my trust in them. I strongly recommend other students and parents to seek an alternative.
