Driving School Tecnic

Negative experience: I'm posting on behalf of my in-laws (Marie Joneja and Navin Joneja) who have approximately 35 years of experience driving on the LHS, and need practice in Canada. Given the swapped placement of the windshield wipers Vs the indicator light compared to India, they turned on the wipers by mistake and were scolded by the instructor René. They apologised, saying that they were used to it that way on Indian cars. In response, he snapped at them rudely and said "Don't tell me that! That's not true...I've driven in England." He also insisted on calling my mother-in-law by the wrong first name. I notice other reviews that call attention to the racial bias and bigotry and it deeply concerns me. Do better.

Positive experience: The driving schools Tecnic Ville Émard and Tecnic LaSalle work together. It is therefore possible that you may be redirected to one of the two service points. Please read your emails carefully.

Negative experience: To avoid: 1) The manual (which should be updated, but is overall well put together) is hardly used during classes, the teacher prefers to ask questions and present anecdotes more or less off-topic to fill time (e.g., your favorite car, what do you think of 'X', etc.). 2) The slides (which should also be refreshed) are passed very quickly or completely skipped in more than 25% of the cases, and students do not have access to them. 3) The teacher had difficulty (read here did not make a real effort to) pronounce any 'non-Quebec' names and told a student 'that she was difficult' when she corrected him on the pronunciation of her own name! I also heard several culturally questionable 'jokes' or comments. If I had made such comments, I would be promptly met by human resources. In short, it's shocking to pay hundreds of dollars for Zoom classes of this quality...

Negative experience: They simply don't respond to calls or emails. Out of 10 calls they responded once and it was just to redirect me through another tecnic school

Fantastic experience: I had Chabane as an instructor and he was extremely attentive and understanding. He was able to help me overcome some of my fears about driving and thanks to him I now have my license!
