Negative experience: Today, my son had a driving lesson with Ms. Blaise Eve-Marie, and I am very upset and angry about how she treated him. My son practiced with her for two hours, but after just 40 minutes, she told him he didn’t need to drive anymore and asked him to sit in the back so another student could take over. We still don’t know the reason behind her behavior and are awaiting an explanation from the company’s manager. My son felt disheartened and upset by this incident, losing confidence due to her inappropriate tone and behavior, especially as it was done in front of another student. My son has been training with Tecnic for a year now, and once before, he was dissatisfied after a lesson with this instructor. However, due to time constraints, he reluctantly scheduled another session with her. I am deeply disappointed that the professional team at Tecnic employs instructors who can affect a young learner’s confidence, especially at a stage where encouragement and positive reinforcement are essential for a new driver.
Hello Mary, and thanks for your feedback. We sincerely apologize that your son had a difficult experience during his lesson with Ms. Blaise. We take your concerns seriously and want to make sure every student has a positive, supportive experience when learning to drive.The SAAQ’s Road and Safety Education Program requires for the In-Car lesson 12-13 to be completed by two students. One drives while the other evaluates, half-way through the lesson (55 minutes) students exchange positions and the driver becomes the observer. After carefully reviewing the situation and speaking with both Ms. Blaise, as well as the other student who was also present in the car, we would like to provide some additional context and explain a bit more about what happened. Please keep in mind that we did attempt to contact your son multiple times, but we are unable to reach him.During the lesson, your son was asked more than once : to slow down, make complete stops, and follow directives more carefully. Unfortunately, he continued to speed, ran through yellow lights, and missed some key safety instructions, putting himself at risk, as well as the other student, the monitor and other road users. For everyone’s safety, 40 minutes into the session, Ms. Blaise decided to have your son be the observer while the other student took over the driving. This wasn’t a decision she made lightly, but it was made with your son’s safety and the safety of others in mind. After speaking with the other student, he did highlight that Ms. Blaise remained calm, respectful throughout the situation, and showed a lot of patience.We understand this may have been frustrating for your son, and we’re sorry if the way it was handled affected his confidence. Our goal is always to help students build confidence while staying safe on the road. We’ll also be following up with you to talk more about how we can make sure your son feels encouraged and gets the most out of his lessons moving forward.Thanks again for bringing this to our attention, and we’ll be in touch soon to make sure your concerns are fully addressed.Tecnic Pincourt
