Negative experience: Please don't make the same mistake I made. Save your money. They charge more then any other driving school but the service is terrible. If I could have given them Zero star I would have. when they scheduled my in car classes the first thing I said is I am a nervous driver I need someone who can help build my confidence. The instructor that started me off left the company so they paired me up with someone with bad temperment .In spite of mentioning I had a break from practicing driving due to health concerns. He screamed at me when I could not do a left turn properly. I told them I will not continue with them anymore more and to refund me for my left over classes and road test that I will not be doing. They refused to refund me for the left over part of the course. What an excellent way to scam people. Take the money before providing service and then when it comes to providing service provide such bad service that people decide to not continue with you then you just keep the money. Win win situation for them.

Negative experience: Took a course here a few years back; instead of correcting issues during the driving portions got cursed at loud enough to distract me behind the wheel. It definitely convinced me to avoid these types of companies in the future as distracting a person learning drive by startling them on a highway could have caused an accident and in hindsight was unprofessional. But thankfully passed the course easy enough so wasn’t a total waste of time.

Negative experience: I took the course 30 years ago and insisted my son take it as well. First, it is not the same course. Second, communication and booking is a nightmare. This is not the business it was.

Fantastic experience: I had to book a lesson / vehicle for my road test, and Francesca from Young Drivers (I think they're located in Ontario, but they also provide service to Halifax) was absolutely incredible. They were so helpful with my booking, and after having some complications, came up with several different options and solutions to help me. By far one of the best, most helpful customer service representitives I've ever had the pleasure of talking to! Thank you so much Francesca! :)

Negative experience: Spending this kind of money for driver training, I would have expected proactive and professional program administration from the YD staff. I have recieved the exact opposite. The driving trainers are over-worked and underpaid, and booking your lessons takes multiple phone calls with 1 hour+ long waits to speak with a representative. Once you finally book your lessons, they will be months away and the instructors will cancel at random further delaying your progress. You cannot rely on or the organizational design of this business, the management is incompetent and I truly feel bad for their employees who have to deal with the wrath of their disgruntled clients. Choose any other option you have, it can't be much worse

Positive experience: Second Update: The rest of my experience with Young Drivers was amazing. Then sent a instructor from Dartmouth over for my lessons and I was able to complete them and my road test within 2 ½ months of starting. They were super flexible with my schedule and were able to adjust things for me as needed. The instructor was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I felt very safe during lessons and my driving improved very quickly. It was the perfect amount of encouragement and direct, clearly explained feedback and critiques. I passed my road test on the first try! Update: I was contacted very quickly after leaving this review and they were able to resolve some of the issues I was having, including getting booked in for some earlier lessons and having all my lessons booked at once so I won’t have to wait so long between lessons. I appreciated the quick response and hope the rest of my experience goes more smoothly! I’m in the middle of going through the Young Drivers program and while the course content is great the administration is absolutely awful so far. I was supposed to be in a weekend class last January but it got canceled due to Covid. They told me an online version of the course would be available by mid Feb but it wasn’t up and running until mid April. Because my work is seasonal I’m extremely busy between April and October and told them I wouldn’t have time to complete the online course until my off season because it took so long for them to open the course. At the time I asked if I could book my in car lessons in advance but was told I had to complete a certain amount of the course first. What they didn’t say is it takes almost 3 months to get in for a lesson. When I was finally able to book my driving lessons I couldn’t get anything until the end of January. Earlier this week they told me they had hired a new instructor and could get in me for lessons starting next week but only a few days later they called and cancelled on me because the instructor left so I’m back to end of January lessons. They apparently don’t have a cancelation list either, so I have no way of potentially getting in earlier. At this point I don’t trust that my lessons are going to happen at all. I’m getting my license for work opportunities but I definitely won’t have it in time for my next work season. My license expires in September and I’m now worried I won’t be able to do my driving test before then. Over all the experience has not been good and I really do not recommend Young Drivers.

Negative experience: Stay FAR AWAY we have had multiple cancellations from them for in-car lessons. They just rebook you for 6 weeks and cancel again . Customer service is horrendous they give you two options : an email for a refund or an option to rebook . The refund isnt valid past one year and because of cancellation’s and covid its now been two years! Zero lessons completed to this date, So i guess we just keep rebooking? Maybe by 2026 we will have are lessons completed!

Negative experience: Halifax office closed unexpectedly leaving all the students in limbo. Head Office doesn’t answer emails and phone calls are painful as you have to repeat answers over and over.

Negative experience: If I could give a ZERO, I would. I have left five voice-mail messages and sent five emails over the past 15 days and no one has got back to me. I paid them the full cost of the program and now cannot get them to give me my certificate. There are lots of driving schools out there. I would recommend one that doesn't practice fraud.

Negative experience: How do I start... I signed up for on-line class, paid over $1000 and they do not seem to have their on-line class even in order, it's been canceled due to technical issues. Every single time I ever tried to call them they never answer, like never! This makes me uncomfortable especially after giving them so much money. Then with out my confirmation I received an e mail confirming an in-class start date for April 2nd, I wasn't even asked if that would work, and it definitely does not I am attending a memorial service. I have uncomfortable vibes and just requested a refund, they better not give me a hard time because they ll find out quickly that they are doing that with the wrong girl lol.

Negative experience: My classroom session with YD were fine. The in car lessons were delayed due to COVID but I had no idea when or if they would start up as I spent weeks leaving messages trying to get in touch with the business. I eventually had to go into the office in person to ask about my schedule, which the owner had created and not sent out to me regardless of all the messages I left. I enjoyed my in car lessons with my instructor, but for my road test they set me up with a new instructor I had never met previously in a different car. My road test YD instructor told me that my previous in car instructor had neglected to teach me certain things and gave me new information and techniques right before the test. I failed my road test due to being nervous and not familiar with the new car. Unfortunately I would have to pay again to use their car for my second road test even though the course was already expensive. I would recommend using a different driver training company.

Negative experience: Disregard to my work schedule, wants me to pick in car schedule 5 months in advance and 5 months after completing the class hours although I mentioned that it won’t be possible as my work schedule changes every two months, and when I said that won’t work for me, the owner refuses to issue a letter stating I finished in class hours which I paid For and did, blocks my email, disregard my phone calls, and on top Of that promises to issue a refund for the portion of the in car hours and surprise surprise, two weeks later and there is still no refund, although according to the owner the refund was issued and mailed (originally she said it was suppose to be refunded to my credit card, then she said mailed) and I am still waiting. Contacted head office only to get an answer that they were instructed not to intervene by the local office.

Negative experience: Poor experiences with Young Drivers. The classroom portion was as expected, but ran into issues with the driving and dealing with Tom. Driving lessons that were scheduled were cancelled without notice (just didn't show up), when I called to ask I found out it was because my original license was expired, however I had already written my test again and received a new license. Instead of checking in, I was made to sit and wait for a lesson that I never had. Later I paid for additional driving lessons (2015), however didn't end up using them. I contacted Young Drivers in February to see if a refund was possible. They didn't have my information on file (unsure why...), but when I presented my receipts Tom replied that they would offer a refund up to 5 years later, and that he would mail a cheque or I could come in to pick up my refund. When the cheque didn't arrive, at first I thought the COVID pandemic may have played a part, and tried to contact Tom again. It's been 5 months and I haven't heard a word from him. I've called the office a few times to speak with a worker there, who insisted they can't offer a refund, despite the fact that Tom already agreed. I am now out $450 and can't get Tom to respond to my calls, messages left with the office, or numerous emails. Overpriced and terrible customer service.

Negative experience: HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!Started in feb at the Halifax location and didn’t get into the car until May and didn’t finish until September, this is unsat took way to long to get into a car for lessons. I would personally shop around before going with young drivers as they over book class time and make you wait months to get into a vehicle. I was basically reassigned a schedule a week prior to when I was supposed to have lessons.. they canceled a lesson and never were on time, my driving instructor actually picked me up from a gas station and didn’t think to fuel the vehicle prior to letting me start the lesson. Instead he waited until 10 mins before my road test to decide that we needed to get fuel! This was the second time he took up paid time for lessons and took his sweet time to fill up the car. This should be done prior to a lesson and they should also show up on time and if late add that time to the end of the lesson. This of course was not done.. so all this to say do not use young drivers they are a horrible business and they will never get my recommendation, as they don’t care about there students and just want your money.

Negative experience: Horrible experience, young drivers has gone down hill so much in the last few years here what used to be a good service is now a joke. You’re better off going with any other driving school around. Wait times are ridiculous they over are booking how many students they can take for classroom time and then leaving them waiting for 6 months to get into a car. The customer service is garbage and driving instructors are always late, running off of a different schedule or unable to make the lesson at the last minute and rude when you ask what’s actually going on. The price you pay is no where near worth it.

Fantastic experience: Great small classroom size and the hours were very great. They have weekday classes or weekends (which I did). My driving instructor was very helpful, accommodated my availability, friendly and knowledgeable. He was also very by-the-book which was great because it makes for being a better driver and prepares you for the driving test to get your license.

Negative experience: They are on reliable and don’t return you’re not consistent and do not work well for drivers they can’t practice outside at times with the driving instructor so if you don’t have a car don’t bother it’s a waste of money

Negative experience: I SPECIFICALLY took Young Driver's Of Canada back in the fall of 1993 because they used to advertise EVERYWHERE that it would be equivalent to 3 years driving experience for insurance brokers (insurance companies) well to this day not one broker or company will accept this. And I called lots of places for many years when my car insurance was coming up for renewal an not one place would accept. THIS IS DECEPTIVE, MISLEADING AND FALSE ADVERTISING.I do not recommend anyone take Young Driver's Of Canada.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience learning to drive, both in the classroom and the car, with Young Drivers - Halifax. The classroom prepares you for a really intuitive hands-on approach in the car, where the instructors are really patient and knowledge. I would recommend to anyone - new drivers, immigrants, or people just looking to refresh their proactive driving skills!

Fantastic experience: I had been trying to get my licence for a few years but I was very nervous about learning to drive from my friends and family. The Young Drivers program taught me everything I needed to know. Tim was a great instructor and I feel very confident now about my driving skills!

Fantastic experience: The course very thoroughly covers all you need to know between the in class sessions and in car lessons. I started as a fairly anxious driver, and as I went through my lessons I became more confident in my ability to handle any situation I encountered on the road and my ability to perceive risks early and manage them. The course isn’t cheap, but definitely well worth the price for peace of mind.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed this. I felt like I learned a lot and am a safe driver. I'm not worried about my driving skills and I feel like I am well prepared for bad decisions made by other drivers. Young drivers is expensive but worth the money because they're the only school that teach defensive driving. If everyone took these classes we wouldn't have to worry about collisions and cost of insurance would go way down. My driving instructor was nice and professional, he was always on time and always made me feel safe while learning.

Negative experience: The owner promised a lot , he talked a great sales pitch, delivered nothing, every day my daughter came home from class there was another problem which I called him to ask about, every time his story changed, after the fifth time I asked for my money back and walked away. Warning don't walk away, run. Talked to many places after that, they all said the same thing but only about Young Drivers of Canada, Run away
