With no prior driving experience, I was initially nervous about learning to drive. However, Bosaina's patient and effective teaching methods quickly put me at ease. Negative experience: Teaching new drivers to go 30 below the speed limit with a long line of traffic behind, then arrogantly clapping at people as they are finally able to get by. Good job Excel setting a great example

Fantastic experience: I would highly recommmend this driving school. They where able to accomodate me in practicing for my g test. Upon inquiring through their portal, I was prompty messaged by Bosaina as my instructor. They will give us adequate tips and strategies to pass the exam. Within 3 sessions I can say I am confident to take the test. My booking for practicing before practicing the exam gives me enough time to be confident. Tip: Just make sure to book with them first before booking your test to prevent cramming.

Fantastic experience: I had driving lessons with Linda Giesebrecht and I would recommend her to anyone starting driving lessons. She was very encouraging, and gave me confidence to drive. She was always on time and greatly helped with in passing both G2 and G test.

Negative experience: The instructor doesn’t have the updated knowledge to teach. I did what he told me and failed because of his wrong instruction. He should not be qualified to be a driving instructor. I passed my full G in another driving school without any extra lessons.

Fantastic experience: Excel is awesome and accredited by MTO. My son had Karen for his drive lessons. She was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: I was referred to this driving school by one of my friends who had a great experience, I don't live in Kingston during the summer (completed my driving school in the GTA so I didn't necessary need multiple lessons) but I wanted to book my G2 test here so I reached out to one of their drivers through the phone number on google and I booked a lesson and the day of my G2 test. I was told how much it would be for those 2 lessons (one included the day of the test). And then I booked the test online ($53). The day of the lesson (the day before the G2 test) I asked if we could move the lesson as I had class, the driver couldn't and said you see you at 'said time' and I said ok no problem! I did not attend class for this driving lesson and 10 minutes past the time of the lesson I texted if he was close and he said 20 minutes away, I was fine waiting for him but then he said he had to cancel the lesson and he couldn't reschedule till the end of September, I then reminded him my G2 test was the next day and he said there was no way I could've booked that with him, and kept iterating that it never happened. Due to the fact that it was within 48 hours of the test I lost my $53 booking fee for the G2 test. I didn't ever pay the fee for my driving lesson/test day, however, it still was very inconvenient and I wasn't able to find another driver on such short notice. Please if you book through them get some type of notification/confirmation email or text.

Fantastic experience: I passed my G Road Test! I found Excel Driving School to be reasonably priced. The stuff was friendly and helpful. My Driving Instructor was Tom. He was patient, professional, supportive, and informative. I highly recommend Excel Driving School.

She was kind, patient, encouraging, and made me feel comfortable every time I was in the car with her. She is always willing to answer questions and help you with anything you are unsure about. My driving instructor Linda Smith was a phenomenal instructor. She was always patient, professional and just all around an amazing teacher! Always encouraging and I can tell she truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. She went above and beyond to accommodate my sister and I with our busy schedules and even took time out of her own schedule when she was not supposed to be working to give me a lesson as I needed to have it rescheduled. I am very appreciative to Linda for all her help and it was a pleasure working with her! Thank you Linda!! And thank you to everyone at Excel for making this such a great experience for us!

Fantastic experience: During the month of May, I attempted to contact multiple driving schools in the city, I have to say that Excel has the BEST response rate of all the driving schools in Kingston. I used email as my initial method of communication and I received replies within 1 business day from Excel. I scheduled my first lesson through email and the rest continued through texts. I took private lessons with Excel to prepare for my G road test and the process was A LOT easier than the previous driving school I attended for my G2. As I mentioned earlier, I scheduled my first lesson through email and provided my phone number for the instructor to contact me. I decided to purchase the 3-LESSON PACKAGE for $140 which was essentially 1 hour in-car lessons on 3 different days. Not only was that a reasonable price, my instructor Gerry was very knowledgeable on what I needed to improve on and how I can fix it. We did multiple mock tests on the 401 highway where the G Road Test route will be conducted and made many loops within the 1 hour duration. My lessons were scheduled once a week on weekday mornings. When I heard that road test bookings in Kingston were filling up fast, I booked my test prior to finishing my lessons. I should've notified Gerry ahead of time before booking the test since my lessons were typically booked a week in advance, but he was super kind and made accommodations to have in my 3rd and last lesson before my test date. Taking what I learned from Gerry and the pointers he gave, I SUCCESSFULLY passed my G Test on the first try and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Excel for road test preparations. The overall duration of my session with Excel was 3 weeks starting from the first lesson to my road test date.

Fantastic experience: Excel Driving school gave me a experience I will never forget. The in class learning and driving lessons gave me a great chance to learn how to drive in the best way and I would recommend it to everyone. If you are looking for a place to learn how to drive this is it.

Negative experience: Hard pass from me - tried booking lessons with excel and after 10 days of waiting I finally booked a lesson only to have my driver be a no show. Now I will likely have to re-book my exam as no other driving school in the area can see me in such a short time frame. Very upsetting from such a well reviewed school

Negative experience: I took an hour-long lesson with Tom to prepare for my G2, during which he was grumpy and unclear in his instructions and suggestions. I also had to ask him to put his mask on when we were in the car together. It was useful to know what the course would be like, but otherwise, not useful.

Fantastic experience: Excel driving school was an amazing experience for me. The in-class lessons were good, a decent mix between videos, worksheets and collaborative learning. The in-car lessons were fantastic. I had Linda Smith as my driving instructor and i couldn’t have asked for a better teacher. She was patient, well-spoken, professional, and she always tried her very best to calm my nerves as i am a very nervous driver. A big thank you to Linda and Excel driving school, i will recommend:) !

Fantastic experience: Great driving school! I completed lessons with Linda in December 2019 to prepare for my G2 test and I also completed an additional private lesson with her this March to prepare for my G test. She is an excellent instructor who gives clear instructions and is quick to answer my messages. I don’t remember who taught the in class portion when I did it but they did a good job of making it interactive and interesting. Good course to prepare for road tests and reasonably priced compared to some other driving schools!

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough good things about this driving school! My in car instructor was Linda and she was amazing. She took through all 10 hours of lessons and then took me for a refresher lesson the day before my G2 road test, which I passed with flying colors! I never would have been able to do that on my own without the help of Excel. Learning to drive with them was one of the best decisions I've ever made. Keep up the good work guys and keep on making new generations of good, safe drivers.

Fantastic experience: Couldn't recommend this school more. In class lessons were very informative. Gerry laid things out in an easy to understand way. Linda was my in car instructor and she took me from being terrified to drive 40km/h in a residential area to taking on the 401 with ease. Tom took me out for one last lesson before my G2 and he is awesome as well. I passed my test with flying colours and I couldn't be happier! Thank you to the awesome staff at Excel, I couldn't have done this without you guys. :)

Fantastic experience: After checking out many reviews on driving schools we chose Excel for our son. Highly highly recommend. Gerry (The owner) is great to deal with. Their payment plan is terrific as well. My son's instructor Tom was fantastic. He always showed up on time and let us know if he was running late. Highly recommend Excel Driving School and will be using them again for our daughter.

Negative experience: This was awful the instructor lied to me and told me I was able to book the car for my test. He repeatedly told me to « slow down » and slammed on the break while I was going 25 in a 40 zone. Waste of time and money. Edit: the owner's response to this is appalling, if I did not have a lesson with your company then I would like to be refunded the 40 dollars I payed. If I am not in your records then clearly someone is not keeping track of clients very well. Disappointed beyond belief.

Fantastic experience: Response from the Owner: Our apologies to Andrea for her bad experience with Excel. We try our best to provide excellent service unfortunately we didn't in this case. I spoke to Audrey and yes she did respond late to Andrea's message but it was simply a case of forgetting to do it sooner which can be attributed to workload from our Beginner Drivers Ed course students that day. Since then we recognized the need for additional help and have hired another driving instructor to alleviate workload and hopefully free up more time to accommodate those looking for private lessons. Again our apologies to Andrea.

Negative experience: I never got to take my lesson with this school because I coudn't even book a lesson. I needed a couple hours to practice right before my full G test, and got the number for Audrey directly. The only time I could actually talk to her, she was busy and said she would call me back a bit later. When she finally did call me back, it was so late at night, I had to let it go to voice mail. The next couple days I called several times, she never picked it up, or called me back. When I started texting with possible times, she replied in short messages, instead of picking up or calling back. This way we couldn't get any further. That's when I called a whole new driving school and booked :D The only reason I give 2 stars instead of 1, is because Gerry replied very quickly for my initial inquiry.

Fantastic experience: I took my beginner driver course there. The instructor was pretty helpful and knowledgeable. He helped me arrange my road practice time to fit my schedule, and the indoor course was fun as well. During my road practice, he always showed up on time and was very patient with me, though I didn't really make many mistakes. :P All in all, I am very happy with my experience with Excel Driving school.
