Young Drivers of Canada
Located in Ottawa, Young Drivers of Canada (Ottawa West) is a premier driving school with a legacy spanning over 50 years, having graduated more than 1.4 million drivers across Canada. Recognized as the #1 driving school by CourseCompare.ca, they offer a comprehensive range of programs designed for all ages, from new drivers preparing for their first road test to experienced motorists seeking advanced safety training.
What sets Young Drivers apart is their exclusive focus on **defensive driving and collision avoidance**. Unlike typical driving schools that merely prepare students to pass a road test, YD instills lifelong safe driving habits through their unique "Collisionfree!™" approach. Instructors use a competency-based education method, starting in parking lots and gradually progressing to complex environments like highways, roundabouts, and dense city traffic. Students learn critical skills such as **risk perception, evasive maneuvers, threshold/ABS braking, and shoulder recovery**, ensuring they can handle any situation on the road.
The school offers **flexible learning options** to suit busy schedules, including in-person classroom sessions, self-guided online courses, and live virtual instruction via Zoom. In-vehicle training is strictly one-on-one, ensuring personalized attention from provincially licensed instructors. A significant benefit for graduates is the opportunity for **exclusive insurance savings**, with Young Drivers consistently offering the best insurance discount available to newly licensed drivers in Ontario.
For those who have already passed their licensing tests, Young Drivers provides specialized services such as the **Advanced Collision Avoidance Program**, rehabilitative defensive driving courses, and driver improvement programs. Whether you are a G1 learner looking to reduce your waiting period for the G2 test, or a licensed driver aiming to improve your skills, YD Ottawa West provides the expertise, confidence, and safety training needed to become a truly proficient driver.

Negative experience: I would be careful before signing up for one of their packages, as they are not very flexible nor responsive should any issues come up. They took 6 months to get back to to us when we tried to transfer lessons to another city, only to inform us that we would need to pay significantly more money to transfer (double what they initially estimated) and finally that they were unable to give a refund because it had been so long.
Fantastic experience: Manny is the best, great instructing, very professional and knowledgeable.
Fantastic experience: The instructors were all so great and encouraging and yeah were the reason why I passed the test and I am the driver I am today. Shoutout to Manny and Cliff for helping me along the way. For that reason I give maximum stars
Congrats on passing your road test! Drive safe!
Fantastic experience: Husam was a great instructor and helped me pass my G2
Congrats on passing your road test!
Fantastic experience: After I got my G1 license, I was with Husam for in car lessons and he was a very good teacher. I really enjoyed his teaching style (theory, demonstration, then practice) and overall he’s helped me and my driving skills significantly. He provided me with lots of feedback, and different tips for me to remember how to complete different technical skills. Overall very good experience - I would recommend
