A & J Driving School LTD

Negative experience: About a year ago I was a student at A&J. I signed up for the theory classes, the simulator and driving lessons. The first day of the class the owner brought me into his office and I was asked why my cousin never came back and had the rest of her lessons transferred over to me. I felt that it was a breach of privacy and very unprofessional. Another instance of unprofessionalism was when I was doing the simulator, one time that I was there the owner got into a huge disagreement with the receptionist over what seemed to be someone canceling their lessons. The two started yelling at each other then went into his office then after a while the receptionist walked out and screamed that the owner fired her but he was yelling back saying that she quit. And they went back and forth more then the receptionist walked out. I was really scared and just wanted to get out of there but after my appointment he started a really uncomfortable conversation about how I was liking the course. I felt that he was trying to make himself out to be the good guy. The one redeeming thing about A&J is the driving lessons because the instructor that I had was so kind and so focused on helping me succeed.

Fantastic experience: I recently completed my driver training with A and J Driving School, and I couldn't be happier with my experience! Denis was my instructor, and he is truly amazing. His kind and patient approach made learning to drive an enjoyable experience. It was an honour to have him as my instructor, as he shared so much knowledge and experience in driving. Also, before taking your driving test make sure you practice well enough as practice makes perfect and you gain more confidence. The entire team at A and J Driving School is professional and supportive, making sure I felt confident behind the wheel. I highly recommend this driving school to anyone looking to learn how to drive. 10/10 Thank you, A and J, for everything!

Fantastic experience: My driving instructor, Curtis, was absolutely helpful. He is a very patient teacher, especially when it came to parking, which is great if you are a new driver. His little tips and tricks helped me gain confidence on the road. 10/10 would recommend!

Negative experience: Can't even have a real.human answer the phone. First of what a bad taste of a first impression. Secondly if you can't have anything but a robot talk you're services are not very important.

Fantastic experience: I took 10 hours of in car lessons with Curtis and was blown away by his knowledge and expertise. I feel fully confident in my driving skills thanks to him! I started out nervous and unsure but by the end of the week everything felt natural and there was no more hesitation in my driving thanks to his excellent teaching style.

Negative experience: I had a very bad experience from this place, The Instructor was awful.He was yelling all the time , absolutely no patient,put so much stress on me while I am trying to learn how to drive,also lots of fake reviews !! DONT spend your hard earned money to this awful school!

Fantastic experience: First I would like to start with an A+ To A & J Driving school. We used this company for two of our children and would recommend it to anyone looking for a positive experience for themselves or their children. Recently my son completed his drivers training with Asif and he was nervous starting but Asif made the whole experience relaxing for him! Whenever he felt hard on himself for making a mistake Asif would make him take a breathe and tell him not to get down on himself which was a huge thing for his confidence and make him start again fresh and he was so proud when he did it right the second time around. His patience, calm explaining of the driving situations and positive, friendly attitude made him an excellent instructor and my son would recommend him to anyone needing to learn how to drive! Negative experience: Horrible experience. Went through 2 instructors. Never finished my last session. I was absolutely under so much stress and it was not handled with patience. I could barely drive through residential neighbourhoods and this instructor tells me to go through a traffic circle screaming “ACCELERATE” first time I ever heard that word and he chose to say that instead of GO. Was so panicked I slammed on the breaks mid traffic circle.

Fantastic experience: A & J Driving School helped me gain the knowledge and skills to pass my class 5 drivers test within a week after completing the learning course! Raj is such a great teacher and ensures that safety is first out on the roads.

Fantastic experience: The experience I had at A&J from the front-desk (Penny), the theory and on-the-road lessons was nothing but superb. Raj teaches exactly what will be on the writtin exam; he also makes sure that concepts are understood before moving on and encourages students to ask questions. Denis is a wise and an amazing instructor for on-the-road lessons. His skills, reflexes and patience is unmatched and he truly wants his students to be successful while driving on the road. Overall, my experience at A&J is worth paying for and I highly recommend to seek lessons at this location whether you are an unexperienced driver or somone who wants to brush up their skills and learn more about driving safely!

He helped me build my confidence with my driving and taught me many valuable skills to apply to my driving. Fantastic experience: Raj took me from a level 1 to level 10 driver within the 10 hours of driving we did. I appreciate the “tough love” I was treated with that helped me realize what I was doing wrong. After he explained what was wrong, why it was wrong and how to do better next time. Would definitely recommend A and J no other school could top them

Fantastic experience: I had Raj as my instructor and he was a wonderful teacher. He’d let me know when I did something wrong and he’d give me pointers on how to fix them. I would recommend him to everyone who would like to learn how to drive!

Negative experience: PARENTS BEWARE! Do not send your kids here if you want them to have self confidence and learn how to drive. The experience our daughter had here was absolutely horrible. The driving instructor she had would forget what instructions he gave her while driving and then would raise his voice with her. 5 out of the 7 2-hour sessions she would return home in tears. The instructor even wasted time on 2 separate occasions, once when he was going to be late but never messaged us to say he was here and that resulted in over 15 min wasted. The second time, was they were driving near the university and there was some "special" tree with a plaque and he got her to park and get out of the car to go see this tree. This is not what my hard earned money was paying for, it was to teach her how to driver safely and confidently and that didn't happen. We ended up getting other lessons from another Driving School and they were 100 times better and help with her confidence in driving. All I can say is stay away from this place, there are WAY BETTER driving schools out there. Don't waste your money.

Fantastic experience: I’m very happy with A & J services. It was very easy to book driving lessons with them. Everything was done over the phone and I didn’t have to physically go to their office. My driving instructor Denis was very professional and patient with me and he was always on-time. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: This driving school is the best in Edmonton.The teacher in class named Rajinder is a very good teacher and very smart person.Then Tung was the excellent driving extractor 10/10. and you can’t forget Tammy at the door very nice lady.Go with them and you well pass your driving test the first time.

Fantastic experience: The owner(Raj) as well my driving instructor Sid went above and beyond during my experience here and was patient in every way possible. That being said, I highly adhere and recommend anyone, whether it'd be a first time driver or someone leaning to further improve they're driving skills/knowledge to try out A&J.

Fantastic experience: I had a really good experience and just passed my road test 3 days after finishing my lessons with Denis. He’s very thorough and knowledgeable and was really understanding of my anxiety. Kendall and Raj are also great and very helpful. I had 6 hours of simulator practice before starting the in-car lessons, and I would recommend it mainly for those who are extremely anxious about driving, as I was. It’s a bit dated, but it helped ease me into getting behind the wheel.

Fantastic experience: Assad was an amazing instructor for my son! He is friendly, calm, encouraging and accommodating. He is very good at instructing to your driving ability. He is very detailed with his instructions and expectations. My son aced his driving test. All together a fantastic experience!!

Positive experience: the owner and the secretary were both very nice and helpful but i had problems w my instructor. he was quite rude and when i would make mistakes, he would panic and just yell at me one time he even passive aggresively asked me "was that hard?" after giving me vague instructions YELLING. i wanted to learn step by step but he would literally barely teach me anything and would just get mad that there are some things i dont know right away. anyway, i loved the customer service here it was just my instructor i had problems with.

Fantastic experience: My daughter took her driving course here recently.It was such a good experience I would want to recommend this driving school to everybody. Everyone works in this driving school (the owner, driving instructor, front desk clerk, etc.) is very nice and friendly, answered all our questions and concerns with patience. When my daughter was having the road lesson with the driving instructor Denis not once she felt like rushed. He patiently guided her through all the mistakes she made, instead of try to get the lessons over with, he really focus on to train her to be a better and responsible driver on the road, taught her all the techniques she needs for different road conditions, spend extra time to explain things to her after each lesson.( much appreciation! ) With all of that, they have such reasonable price. What can I say, I’m just really really satisfied:)

Negative experience: A and J maybe a good school for new drivers but l would not recommend it for people who want to be Driving lnstructors. I was scammed two years ago by the owner Raj . Paid $2, 000 of the required $2, 500 but have never seen the inside of a classroom. He gave me 5 books to go and read on my own, took me on 2 Driver Training lessons and told me to go and write a Driver lnstructors Exam. I tried two times but did not reach the pass mark not because l am dumb or anything but because somebody was supposed to go over the books with me. Got 86% on my first test and 81% on the second and when l asked Raj to go over the books with me he told me all the previous instructors did it on their own and he refused to give me a part refund so that l can go to a school that can actually train me.

Fantastic experience: I was lucky enough to have Raj as my driving instructor. He was extremely understanding, helpful, and friendly. I struggled with parallel parking at the start and we worked and found a way that worked for me. All of the staff that I met were extremely nice and cared about how I was doing. I was even able to get my drivers lisence first try thanks to Raj!

Fantastic experience: My experience here was awesome! I started in the classroom with Stephen, he was very funny and enjoyable to listen to. Spending 16 hours in a classroom seems a bit daunting at first, but the time goes by very fast and the test at the end is not hard as long as you pay attention during the class. My driving instructor was Raj and he was amazing! I was a very nervous driver going into the sessions. He recognized that, and did his best to make me less nervous. I struggled with parallel parking at first, but he gave me other techniques until one worked for me. Now I have no problems with it! He gave very helpful constructive criticism and taught me many things I didn't know before. We had great conversations during each session and I found myself looking forward to the next one. Now that all of my sessions are finished I feel very confident while driving! Thanks Raj!

Fantastic experience: My driving instructor Sid was excellent and provided me with the knowledge that I needed to pass my drivers test on the first try with ease. He made me feel comfortable with driving in which I wasn't before. I would highly recommend him if you are unsure of your skills but are looking to improve them.

Bad Additude the lady at the front desk was not helpful or friendly i have 2 children to teach them driving and to give them buisness but the lady at the front just gave me a sheet saying HERE i said whos the owner she said i cant tell you i gave her back the sheet and went to pjs driving school he is much better at teaching if you guys ever need to learn driving enroll in PJS DRIVING SCHOOL these guys are rude and dont want my buisness clearly

I had hard time pick the driving school for my son but we are so lucky to have Wei as his driving instructor. Wei is very professional with his job. Only with in 5 sessions and 2 hours per sessions My son is very confident with his driving skill that just tell me that He had a good teacher. We did not end up using the voucher for his test due to our schedule. My son pass his test on the first try with an SUV. We just want to said thank you A & J for having great instructor like Wei. Fantastic experience: Everything was very good. My daughter enjoyed the classroom and aced her learner's exam the morning after she completed it. Sid was a great in-car instructor. He was patient, supportive and gave her good tips/strategies to use when practicing with us. He covered everything I would expect and had her doing things she would ever have tried with just her parents (ie groat road, anthony henday, etc).

Negative experience: I would not recommend this driving school to anyone. If I could leave zero stars, I would. The problem began when we requested a new instructor, as he was telling her to do things incorrectly. My wife called the school to request the change, they failed to return calls. It took three calls to get a response to our query. My wife was told our daughter would have to drive with the owner Raj. Again it took several calls to get even one driving session. I found the owner Raj to be very rude, passive aggressive, and verbally abusive towards my daughter. He refused to schedule her, giving her no notice when her driving times would be. The second to last driving session he was yelling at her intentionally distracting her only to yell at her again if he did distract her. He would intentionally cover her mirrors, telling her she was using them too much, while she was trying to parallel park, berating her for taking 68 seconds to park, as it should only take 30 seconds.... Following up that an examiner will give her 5 minutes and that there was no need to rush. This confusion led to my daughter crying in the car for about 15 minutes. In order to get the driving lessons done, I had to text him, and miraculously he responded but had ignored my daughter for over a week. The lack of courtesy and professionalism is beyond words. I had a competent and confident driver starting this course, which we were only taking for the insurance discount. We had been driving with her for over a year, and now I have been left with an anxious driver with no confidence. She has become anxious about passengers shifting their position as she fears they are hitting the brake, despite our vehicle having no brakes on the passenger side of the vehicle. He continouosly hit the brake and grabbed the steering wheel, which is very odd considering I have never once felt the need to grab the steering wheel while she was driving. Parents think twice before registering here. Look elsewhere. He was even petty enough to make a comment about how he was nice enough to get a certificate on her last lesson due to her lack of commentary, which we find unnecessary, as she is a very competent driver. And for the record, she aced the in class test with a high 90s average, or one question wrong.

Negative experience: It's the most expensive driving school and bad experience there I won't recommend anyone!

Negative experience: I was NOT at all happy with this school for my in car prof. Rude, arrogant and short with answers to any questions that i may have had when unsure of things when explaning to me and trying to dicipher the accent, which was thick. I paid over 1,000 and expected more out of this for this kind of money. I would not do the simulator time if I had my chance to have known what that was going to be like and used that funds towards in car hands on driving experience instead for real driving instead of this computer thing. I wanted to change my prof for in car but could not as lady at the desk would not let me talk to the boss guy, or not return my calls. I could only do my test at west end registries and no where else and it wasn't the car that was used in the driving lessons with my prof. This I was not told when i paid this money to the office girl. Overall I am disappointed in areas of this experience.

Negative experience: I had a bad experience. Lady in office didn't tell owner I was unhappy with services or the owner ignored my troubles I was having with my car coach for driving. Coach was rude, late and yelled at me in the car. The computer driving game to learn how to drive was not helpful.It didn't work through some areas of programs for the driving.I see others has had good/bad experiences here and wish I had bugged the lady in the office more often to just switch to a new coach like I wanted or to refund my money.

Fantastic experience: I was lucky enough to have Raj as my driving instructor, and he was awesome! I put off learning to drive for far too long due to a lot of anxiety and nerves. Raj was very understanding of how nervous I was on my first lesson, and because he was so nice and easy-going, I was able to get over a lot of my fears quite quickly! He was also very accommodating to my schedule, and really felt like a friend in the end. I highly recommend this driving school to anyone!

Positive experience: Just came home after PASSING my first road test and wanna tell the world that A & J driving school needs to be your only choice for driver training if you want to do it the first time. Merry xmas to Raj and all of the staff.

Fantastic experience: A and J driving school has by far been the best experiance i have ever had, i chose the school initially because i didnt have alot of money to put out for a driving school like AMA or other ones and i had read the reviews on google ( their old address) and they were awesome reviews. I was lucky enough to be placed with for my driving with the most caring lady i know of Sharon, i will be forever greatful for the knowledge that she has given me on driving and the confidence she has given me to go out on the city streets with children in my vehicle, i would reccomend this driving school and sharon specifically for your in car driving, she is amazing and i honestly cant picture having a better experiance than what A and J has given me. I have told all my family and friends about the experiance and will definitly keep spreading the word! They exceeded my expectations by far! From one happy Customer!! Fantastic experience: A&J Driving School is utterly fantastic, I cannot send them enough praise and gratitude for their experience and friendliness has helped me achieve my goal of being a confident driver. A&J was recommended to me by a friend and not just A&J but Sharon specifically, she is a joy to drive with. Sharon is a wonderful teacher and also such a beautiful lady. Her many years of experience with diverse individuals makes it easier for you to relax and her to teach. The school portion of the training was very well done, Stephen and Jas were a pleasure being taught by. Stephen started the class off the first day with stories and laughter all day, and Jas finishing it all off the second day, they were a perfect duo. I must also mention the owner Raj, he is fantastic !! When I went into sign up for my classes he made it seem like this is THE place to be, and well as luck had it he was right!! I thank everyone at A&J for being a huge part in my life for driving is a major stepping stone and without their expertise I would still be walking :)

Fantastic experience: I find that too often people expect perfection and great service and only provide feedback if they have a bad experience with something. After researching online a driving school I decided to go with A & J Driving due to the great reviews from past students about one of their instructors- Sharon! I am so happy that I chose this! I have had a fear of driving but knew I needed to get over it, and Sharon was the PERFECT solution. She starts where you're at and doesn't push you but encourages you. If you're scared of driving, I can honestly say that Sharon will help you to get past that. She is the reason I am confident with my driving and that is a skill that is hard to come by. She actually cares about her job, her students and loves what she is doing which translates in her lessons. She was extremely patient and professional. I would recommend not just A & J, but Sharon. She is the reason why I had such a wonderful experience at A & J.

Fantastic experience: A & J driving is by far amazing! The in class material taught by Steven went well and he was able to have fun with it and make it interesting. Now for the in car...Sharon is the BEST!!!!!!!!!! I would recommend her to anyone and everyone. You will never ever meet a driving instructor like her, she is extremely helpful and is just an all around lovely person. Dreading in car lessons?....Don't. With Sharon it is full of laughs, talks and helpful tips, she makes you feel safe and comfortable behind the wheel. I came to her only ever using the simulator( which I also recommend) and I now feel confident on the roads thanks to her. The way Sharon explains concepts is amazing and makes it easy to understand.On top of being such a great gal she bakes...just to add to the great lesson she brings her fresh treats in the car for you which are amazing as well! All in all my experience at A & J was excellent thanks to the people who work there.

Negative experience: this place will rob you. horrible hourly rate of $50/hr if you don't pass the first time, to redo the things you did bad on. the instructor i had was texting on the job and took phone calls in the middle of teaching. unprofessional woman. overall, i do not recommend this place, especially if you're a major beginner. go to AMA!

Fantastic experience: I had been referred to A & J by a family friend. I was a timid, tense driver and before I took this program I was sure I would never be able to learn how to drive. The inclass, a 2 day 9-5 weekend class, was mostly videos, but the written test wasn't hard, save for a few questions. I'm sure this is pretty standard between driving schools. What A & J has that is by far better than any school is Sharon. Sharon, as an in car driving instructor is amazing. She is everything that a driving instructor should be- patient, knowledgeable and an amazing teacher, but she's also caring, kind and knows so many tricks and tips. She is head and shoulders above anyone, I can assure you. As I said before, I was sure at 22 I would never learn how to drive. Sharon instills a calm confidence in her students and truly tries to understand them in order to tailor her instruction to make sure everyone is set up to succeed. Her caring nature is shown not just through instruction, but through baking for her students; she always had homemade treats in her car. I would recommend not just A & J, but Sharon especially as an in car instructor. She is head and shoulders above anyone in the field.

Fantastic experience: Thank you A&J Driving School!! First of all, Yvette (the receptionist) is a really sweet person, she's extremely helpful and when/if you are using the driving simulator, she's always eager to help you out when needed - thanks!! :) I was a bit nervous coming into the lessons because I don't have anyone in my life that would allow me to learn how to drive - I was a total noob! If you pay attention in the classroom and look over the book the night before the test - you'll do fine!! The majority of our class passed the written exam and Sharon was an amazing teacher - she always tried to keep everyone entertained with videos so it wasn't dry! I passed the test with only 1 question wrong so I was half way to my insurance reduction :) Mandeep was my driving instructor and she is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is a wonderful person, she really cares about her students and it shows! I was extremely nervous about parallel parking but she teaches you exact methods that work every single time! I aced it on my roadtest on the first attempt :) I had a terrible day before one of my lessons with her because I had no one that would let me practice in their car and really, you should be practicing outside the lessons.. she rescheduled with me and fit me in before my roadtest appointment and really tried her best to make sure I was ready for it. She really honestly cares, she's a very sweet, and caring woman! Love her!! Thank you so much, Mandeep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aced my roadtest with only a couple minor mistakes! (not pulling up close enough to cars while waiting at a light - they say the gap only needs to be ~1/2 of a car's length .. and I had pulled into a tight parking spot at the registry)! After my lessons with Mandeep, I went from being an extremely nervous/cautious driver, to a new, confident and aware driver - I was even comfortable with the examiner because Mandeep had taught me so well! Also! p.s. : Thank you for preparing me for those one-ways by west end registry! (I live downtown and i'm not used to driving in that area). When the examiner told me to turn onto a few roads, I always knew where to go because Mandeep had taught me to always be aware of where you intend to go, before you start to turn! Some of those roads are a bit tricky!!! Watch out and goodluck :)

Fantastic experience: Just finished my lessons with Sharon, definitely recommend anyone who is searching for a good driving school with a fair price and excellent service. I chose this school because it has the best reviews and I have to admit there is a good reason for it. If you do choose this school, I strongly recommend you to demand Sharon as your instructor. She is very observant and will teach you lots of neat tricks that make driving feel so much easier. She is very approachable and super fun to be around with, not to mention she is also talented in cooking and will always bring snacks for you. You won't regret it if you choose her.

Fantastic experience: A and J defiantly fulfilled its promises. I learned so much in those two days and had so much fun! And yes the dog at the front is real!! Its the smallest and cutest dog you will ever see! Raj was my instructor for both classroom days. He is very nice and helped explained everything. The classroom is fully equipped with movie theater seats. comfort is a must for 15 hours lol! Good videos that really opened my eyes with texting, careless driving and drinking and driving. We follow all chapters in the learners book which we are allowed to take home and bring back to the school to study and review. I had a lots of fun, the class was fun. Yes its quiet and a little aqward at first but everyone relaxes throughout the day and opens up and we all ended up having a great time. The hours flew by and before we knew it, we were done! thank u a and j for helping me learn all aspects of driving. And for a fun filled time. And for the cutest dog ive ever seen. I still feel its not real lol!! Defiantly come to A and J!!!

Negative experience: .If you have driven before then this school is good to improve. But if you are a new driver like me then DO NOT go there. They will ask you to take 20 hours. First 3 days (6 hours) they will let you drive only on the parking lot. 1st 2 hours they will just teach you left turn and right turn on the parking lot. TOTAL WASTE OF MONEY. But if you know how to drive already then they can't rob you i think.
