Fantastic experience: Hello Future Truckers, I’m not someone who usually writes reviews online, but I wanted to share with you guys my honest experience with Crossroads Truck & Career Academy. I decided to become a truck driver to start a new life and give my career a new direction. Crossroads was recommended to me by former students, and I must say, I wasn’t disappointed. From the very first interaction with the school staff, I received tremendous support. The lovely Shea guided me through all the administrative processes, and her husband Ken, the owner—the big boss himself—helped me apply for a financing program designed for people pursuing this career path. The training started as planned, and at Crossroads, they take it seriously. You begin with in-class training with Don, an experienced instructor who teaches you everything you need to know about rules, regulations, safety, and trip planning, all delivered with his unique sense of humor. Then, it’s Air Brake training with mighty Kurt, whose motto could be, “If there’s air in it, you’ll be able to drive it.” After that, you move to the yard, where you finally get behind the wheel of one of the school’s many well-maintained trucks. This is where you meet your road instructor, who works to transform you from an amateur car driver into a confident truck driver. All the instructors are skilled and knowledgeable: Chris, Rohan, Bill, Jeff, Megan, and others whose names I may have missed. But for me, Ms. Rachel stood out as one the best. With her unique style she will make sure you become an expert in Schedule 1 inspections, master smooth gear shifting, and develop into a safe and capable driver. Test day at the exam center can be nerve-wracking, but you will overcome it. In case you fail, as I did several times, don’t worry. Go back, work harder, and keep trying. The team at Crossroads will focus on your weak points, help you address them, and rebuild your confidence. That’s exactly what they did for me when I struggled with backing maneuvers. They never gave up on me. Even Ken, the big boss himself, rolled up his sleeves and trained me until I finally passed. Fantastic experience: The top #1 trucking academy in Ottawa, ON. Crossroads AZ course is very well organized and effective. They offer you not just MELT program, but knowledge and understanding of real-world "big-toys" driving. Don was a fantastic in-class instructor. He makes the lessons enjoyable while covering the material thoroughly. Huge thanks to Kurt, who was awesome while he taught us about air brakes and ran our tests. In just 2 days, he gave us the air-brake knowledge and a strong understanding of the air-brake components. Brian was excellent in his explanation for Schedule 1! Just one day under his supervision and Schedule 1 Inspection was no longer a problem in terms of the MTO exam. Darsey was my in-truck instructor, he is a true truck driver expert - I can't say less. He was always able to show us the right approach in a short time and always wanted to see us performing better and better, which is why we did very well on the final exam. A special thanks to Jeff, my instructor for 3 days. He gave me the exact experience I asked him for. Every other instructor always was ready to help, answer questions, and give advice, and just everyone was always super friendly. Huge thanks to Ken, it was just nice to see not just a company boss, but the real team leader who cares about the students' success and results, and who is able to jump into the truck and work with the students. So you guys are a super-cool team at Crossroads, I felt ready and confident to pass my AZ, and I did it with the Crossroads team!

Fantastic experience: #1 Trucking School in Ottawa, ON. I cannot say thank you enough or say enough good things about Crossroads for the phenomenonal AZ course they put on. Don who runs the 2-week in-class portion is amazing. He is extremely personable and patient while making the class fun and engaging with jokes and stories from throughout his career while being extremely thorough with the course material. Kurt was amazing for the two days where he came in-class to teach us our air-brakes and to conduct our testing. Kurt was always engaging and knew how to keep us all entertained and attentive. It was also a pleasure to learn that we happen to know quite a few of the same people from my day to day life. Brian was my in-truck instructor for the first week after the evaluation period and he was great! Brian is straight to the point and knows how to convey his point concisely. I found that he was especially great for learning the nuances of trucking in the real world with the plethora of stories he had to tell us and teach us from over the years. Rachelle was my permanent in-truck instructor for the last 2 weeks of the program as some groups had switched around. I would like to give her special thanks as she is a phenomenal instructor and Crossroads is extremely lucky to have her teaching as she is always patient, understanding and has an extremely keen eye/ear for detail which ensured I knew absolutely everything to be ready for my test. Crossroads team of professionals ensured that in 6 weeks I was ready and confident to pass my ACZ, which I am proud to say I achieved today. I'd also like to mention that I had the privilege of partaking in this course alongside 13 great guys. Everyone was super friendly, we were engaged throughout the entire course and we were all invested in the success of one another.

Fantastic experience: Just passed my road test today on Walkley road and got my ACZ license, thanks to Crossroads Ottawa. Great place to learn how to drive truck. Really provided the knowledge and skills to pass the test and also be safe on the road. If you’re thinking about getting yourself into a trucking school I would really recommend this place! Negative experience: I attended this school awhile back I have no issues with the instructors but Ken wanted $700 for only a few hours of training on a manual transmission even though I ALREADY PAID for the manual DZ course and it doesn’t stop there BRUCE admitted that Crossroads is doing this for money! Wish I could get my $2500 back that I paid out of pocket was a complete waste of time and my money

Fantastic experience: I couldn't be happier with my experience at crossroads. If you're considering getting your AZ/DZ license this is the best place to go. There was not one instructor/staff member there that I could say was any less than devoted to their job. I had Don for the in-class portion and he went above and beyond to make sure all of us understood what he was teaching us and at the same time was really humorous and laid back, making it easily the best in-class experience I've ever had. For in-truck I had Rachelle and she is the sweetest human being I've ever met. There is nothing she cares about more than seeing her students succeed so if you end up being placed with her just know you're very lucky because she will care for you every step of the way like you're her child. Don't cheap our and go to the schools that only offer the bare minimum; spend the extra money and go to crossroads. You won't regret it.

Can't say enough positive about the quality of Crossroads Truck &Career Academy from the person whom greets you in the morning at the front to the instructors they are accommodating and pleasant Knowledgeable. Thier is a open door policy with the president of the school who listens to any concerns you have and takes action to accommodate you The trainers are former drivers them selves with years of experience they are upto date on thier knowledge and traing and work very hard to help you to be successful not just with a road test bit also a career in the industry. I would rate them the top school around I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to train here

Fantastic experience: CROSSROADS was an incredible experience. I came to the AZ Melt program with 10 years of commercial/international experience operating emergency vehicles and motorcoaches with the rich and famous. I left the fire service and COVID parked the buses, so my only way of using my skills was to upgrade the licence I held. The teaching staff were the epitome of professional and kind, the learning environments were clean and engaging and I felt safe knowing that the fleet vehicles were leased and well maintained with an average age newer than my daily driver. Other schools teach you how to pass a test, in vehicles that should not pass the pre trip they teach...but at CROSSROADS we were taught how to be professional drivers by taking roads and routes as far from the test routes as possible, using full studio sleeper trucks with 53' dry vans that had ballast weight to simulate real world conditions. It is is scary to think that at other school you're paying almost as much to use an automatic day cab, backing a short chasis trailer to then be put out on the 401 in a truck/trailer combination with no experience as a driver or in that equipment. CROSSROADS is the standard of learning and care in this industry. From their course I was able to become an owner operator with my dream truck, start a family and now emulate their dedication to learning by leading the training, safety and fleet compliance of a 170 bus fleet comprised of motorcoaches and school buses with children across eastern Ontario. I can assure you that I do not work for, or receive any compensation by CROSSROADS for my feelings toward them. Since my 2020 course I have been responsible for at least 3 more professional drivers upgrading their D class to an A class with CROSSROADS because the evidence is that CROSSROADS better prepares you for the real world. Any one star review seen here is undoubtedly from a pupil who expected an easy pass or handshake deal, to which CROSSROADS has a zero tolerance outlook toward. There are too make snakes in the grass of Ontario Driver Education and CROSSROADS instructors are not your "brother", they become a friend (my instructor and his wife attended my wedding 2 years later), but they place the onus of success on the student. Their statistics and pass rates are genuine, and they do not bend the rules for anyone. Brian, Ken and the team have a superb operation and I'd entrust any CROSSROADS successful driver with my own daughter on the roadway...if you're looking to buy your licence with no effort, there are plenty of other North American schools who can help you pass a test with no skills. XOXOXOXO

Negative experience: Worst place. Worst business. Worst customer service. Worst behaviour. Bad attitude. Highest fee in ontario. Lowest gain. Useless. If you go you must fail. KEN and BRUCE are totaly useless, because they don't listen and never return call back. Only thing they care is MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. Stay away from them or you will go in depression. ZERO STAR FOR THEM. I will never go on that road where this school is located. They know me, my name is GARY.

Fantastic experience: i came to this school for my DZF lisences and immediately was welcomed by phyllis and Ken , sat down with Ken the president of the company/school and discussed the course he was very friendly and kind and extremely helpful aswell as phyllis who treats everyone the same with open arms and great conversations , Bruce was also very helpful . i was taught in a class of maybe 12 people with Kurt as the instructor who was very efficient and effective and genuinely cares about his students and their progress while still making the course fun and enjoyable. My in truck instructors were Meagan and Corrine who are absolutely amazing at what they do and they both have there own styles of teaching so you get the best of both worlds as you learn side by side with both of them and another student one on one . They made the whole process fun and enjoyable while being extremely thorough with the content they teach , Both of them are highly qualified and it shows . in just two days of training in truck and around the trucks i went into the test having zero doubt in my mind that i would have any issue passing in all sections of the test and i ended up getting a damn near perfect drive test and so was my written test . Overall i cannot imagine a school being better then this you get every dollars worth of your money here, amazing staff and team of instructors and very well designed program will definitely be back if i decide to upgrade to AZ .

Fantastic experience: I would like to say thank you and that your instructor is amazing. Corrine did a great job at getting me calm and learn my schedual 1 and everything. Also she gave me a couple tips on my driving bad habits that I didn't know about. For me to pass on a 4 to 5 hour training I was confident but she made things even better for me. I will be writing a 5 star review and also posted it on fb. Thanks for the discount and trusting me on my word that I was comfortable. It's amazing how she uses the window as a blackboard and just hands on As I am a visual person. If ever I need my A you are the first call for training. Thanks again

Fantastic experience: Glad TTCC didn't respond to my calls, as this was the reason I registered with Crossroads. Best experience I had in a very long time. All staff are very friendly and helpful. Ken and Shea are great, understanding, and supportive and went the extra mile to help me go through the training. Felt I was at home every day. Class rooms are spacious, well organized, and always clean. Learning material is a great reference for future. They will teach you in way that makes it next to impossible to fail, provided you do the hard work required. Kurt is the best Air Brake instructor. Don & Rachel are the best in-truck instructors. Thank you also to all the teachers who teach me in the classroom and they have a very nice administration and treatment beyond what a person can imagine. Fantastic experience: Fantastic training academy! Very friendly staff and instructors that are more than willing and genuinely want to help you achieve your goals. They tailor the training to the individual as everyone learns differently. They are the only Commercial Truck Academy that I know of that has a training program for students with learning disabilities and all of their instructors are trained to accomodate students with various learning disabilities. I have experienced other Commercial Truck academies and I can say that Crossroads by far is the best! They have multiple campuses in Ottawa, Smiths Falls, and Renfrew with their instructors rotating through all of them. If you are looking to get your commercial licence or even just do some refreshers for a commercial licence you already hold Crossroads has many different programs available and all are very affordable. If you are already employed by a commercial truck operator but currently don't have a commercial truck licence, your employer is able to write off the training cost if they sponsor your training. If you want to know more about this, you can contact Crossroads and they will give you information and show you and your employer how this system works.

Jim- Who taught us the driving part and he was respectful, professional, and a great teacher. He gave us plenty of time to practice, and answered questions in a great manner. Negative experience: Unfortunately I choose to take my course with them, they are unprofessional. Very rude. They don’t care if you learn. Make fun of you for asking questions. Also there was hidden fees around $400 that I did not know about. So basically they are scammers. I don’t recommend it at all. Don’t waste your money.

Fantastic experience: If your looking to get your trucking license please go to Crossroad these guys are fantastic and absolutely professional. These guys will do anything to make you pass if you put yourself into it! From what I’ve heard thru many people this is the place you have to go! Don’t bother about other truck training company’s. I would like to thanks Kent for setting me up into this course and big thanks to Phil and and Donald. Phil his absolutely professional and knows his stuff from bottom to top! Donald was absolutely great and he’s such a great person, He has lots of patience and will teach you a lot of tips and tricks. Donald was fantastic this instructor knows his stuff! Erik was my instructor was very good and taught us the trick of the trade and prepared us beyond the standard at mto. Passed the road test no problem. Fantastic experience: Went to the Smiths falls location for my DFZ license. Thanks to Bruce in class I passed my written tests and air brakes with ease. Thanks to Grant and Les I passed my road test with no problems. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get their AZ or DZ. They provide the truck and book the mto road test for you. They make sure you are beyond prepared for the road test.

Positive experience: Good school to get your ACZ license. I had a great experience with all the instructor but would not recommend Brent, lost patience with our group a few times and felt like he didn't let us make little mistakes that we could have learned from. Wished they had weight to put in the trailer to have experience pulling real weight before my first job (but I don't think any school in Ottawa offers this). Also wishes they had more 53 feet trailers. At the time that I did my training they had one 53 feet and all the others were 48 Feet. I would recommend this school passed my test on the first try and instructor are very knowledgeable.

Negative experience: Very unprofessional and disorganized.

Positive experience: At crossroads I was able to take a week long course to get my class D driver’s license. The in-class instructing was great. Upon hitting a little bump in the road (pun intented) during my in-cab practise days, I contacted the owner and he was able to manage the situation proffessionally in order for me to receive great costumer service. In the end, I am very satisfied with the service I received from Crossroads and I would recommend anyone to train with them.

Fantastic experience: Went to crossroads truck training and they far exceeded my expectations on preparing me for my D license road test. The instructors were patient and taught me many skills which helped me pass my MTO road test with very few errors. I would 100% reccomend enrolling in either their D/Z or A/Z driver course it pays off.
