We all think our driver trainer Stan hit the nail on the head when he polietly told the Drive Test Examiner "we no train for your test... we train for life!"
We could not agree with Stan more!
We wont train you to answer 6 questions. We wont have you in a class room for 2 or more weeks.
We are at our heart a vocational school and what we teach are the core skills that you will need to become a successful and safe commercial driver.
We expect the very best from ourselves and we expect the same from our students.
So if your looking to learn how to drive a desk, we are probably not for you!
But if your looking to work with and learn from a group of transportation and driver training specialist then give us a call at 613 888 6477.

North American Transport Driving Academy: Des avis
Allez ailleurs!
Bonjour "Rideau Lakes Towing". Merci Ben Santucci, B.E.S. Président North American Transport Driving Academy
Expérience fantastique: I was very thankful to take my course in Smiths Falls with Rob as my instructor. His dedication to teaching students is unmatched, and is a prime example of how training should be done in the industry. My course started about 2 years ago, and as of this past July, I am a lease operator driving a 2022 W900, and I couldn’t have done it without Rob and his expertise!
Expérience fantastique: I was fortunate to take my air brakes Z course in Smiths Falls and got to know all the wonderful staff. Rob was my instructor and all I can say is that he is a wealth of information and makes sure none of his students get left behind in learning. I can't say enough good things about this company and would strongly recommend them.
Expérience fantastique: I was very impressed with Rob's dedication to his students and the trucking industry. He cares a lot of his students and always goes the extra mile. Rob you are an amazing individual and I really love how you took my under your wing. I really recommend if you have a chance to ask for ROB .
Wow Josh! You just never gave up and so a huge congrats to you! Yes Rob is awesome but it was you that passed your exam, not us and not Rob so be proud of yourself! It was amazing to have you as a student. It is even more incredible to have you as a graduate and like any grad of our school, dont ever be a stranger! Remember all that we taught you, always do a pre trip, report in majors and minor defects, get the majors repaired before you head out on to the road, stay with in your hours of service limits and this winter do not be like those other **&&^^&*(*&^^%% and adjust your speed according to conditions! The best of luck, although you will not need it! You are confident and well prepared so keep in touch as we follow your career! Ben
Expérience fantastique: Friendly staff to guide you too successfully completing your course their goal seems to be for you to pass not just shove you through so they can make $$$. They spend the extra time if you need and provide you with all the tools for a license upgrade. The teacher in the smith falls location is a guru and knows the ins and outs of the trucking trade he is honest and will drive the verbiage you need to know into your brain. All in all it was a great experience and in the end I upgraded my license
Thank you Jacob! Your right, we dont jam people through just to make as much coin as we can. How does behaving like that improve road safety in the Province? Taking your time and teaching people properly is who we are. We dont cut corners and we spend allot of time investing in our instructors so that you do recieve a true education and not just the answers to "six questions". Well done Jacob and congrats because when graduated from our school you earned your certificate and your licence so well done! Ben
Expérience négative: Instructors were solid. If you’re looking to get a AZ manual & don’t have much experience driving manuals I can’t recommend. Lots of time spent in automatic trucks because school doesn’t have enough manuals
Stange review because you passed your road test on your fist attempt using our highway class Peterbilt with a 10 speed standard transmission??? So clearly you must have had enough time in the truck to become competant enough to not only pass your school exam which is way harder than the Drive Test but you also nailed your Drive Test exam too, and all with our manual Pete! The value of our course is in what you were taught as in how to behave in the world of transportation and what society and the law expects of you as a commercial driver. It was way more about all the other teachings and way less about the truck itself! The value was your overall education and not how many driving shifts you had in any particular truck. Sorry you missed that! Ben
Expérience fantastique: This is an update to my original review posted last week. I am updating my review based on a very informative phone call from NADTA. This call provide me with information I was not aware of regarding requirement for driving manual vs automatic truck times. There is a provincial mandate for the number of hours on manual truck over the total hours required to drive. These clarification from NADTA makes sense and the breakdown in hours showed that I actually had more manual hours than the provincial mandate. They will ensure future students are aware of this standard to alleviate any confusion or false expectations. I personally would still prefer to have the entire course on manual trucks, but I was very happy with the follow up call and clarification. The follow up is very much appreciated. The staff at the Smith Falls school were great. They are all extremely focused on the student and giving everyone everything we needed to meet the MTO standard. Thanks again to the Smith Falls crew!!
Expérience positive: Update: The course was great but a year later .. try getting a job with a dz.. not happening. Feel like I wasted my money and time because now I find companies wont hire a new driver because of insurance. The Other guys have a job finding resource unlike this school. This was a great experience. I gained a lot of knowledge from the trainer I had, So much so that I cruised through the whole process as someone who knew nothing about trucking to a fully certified Truck driver now. Rob was an excellent instructor and every day was full of an awesome learning day. I cant get past the equipment let down though. More than once there was a lack of equipment available, they need to invest in more tools for the training. Consistency in trainers is also a must. I would definitely recommend this school for truck training, Well if you want to pass your drive test that is , Thanks NATDA!!
Expérience fantastique: Great place to learn they know their stuff great teachers and staff
Hey Brandon, thank you so much for the review. Rebecca, Rob, Craig, Ted and Stan are all dedicated to improving road safety through quality education. Please, if you have any questions, we encourage all of our grads to keep our numbers handy and call us. You education does not end with us as a grad! Thank you again on behalf all the staff in Smiths Falls! Thanks Ben
Expérience fantastique: All the staff members are excellent couldn’t ask for a better place to train loved every minute of it
Mike, it was great to have you in class and thank you so much for the review. We all work hard to ensure every student receives a quality education which will contribute to improving road saftey. Mike, if you have any questions at all as you embark on your new career, please make sure to call us. Your education does end with us when you graduate so please never be a stranger and again, thank you for the review. I will pass along the positive comments to the staff in Smiths Falls. Thanks Mike Ben
Expérience fantastique: If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. The attention from staff and quality of instruction at this school is second to none. Buck and Rebbecca made getting my license a comfortable process and taught me so much about the truck driving world and not just how to pass a drivetest. When anyone asks where to get their training, I'll be sure to send them here.
Your right Matthew, Rebbecca and Rob (Buck) are first and formost terrific, honest and hard working people and then they believe. They believe like we all do here at North American that improving road saftey starts with a quality education and both Rebbecca and Rob strive to ensure you have as many tools as they can provide you with to help create the saftest commercial drivers we can. Our collective wish is that you, and all of our graduates, use the skills and knowledge we have taught and shown you in an effort to keep yourself and the others you share the road with, safe. Please check those wheel nuts every day, bend down, twist them, see if that washer turns, buy extra batteries for you flashlight, never kick tires and never forget your kit bag every day when you go to work! Thank you again for the kind words, which have been passed along to Rebbecca and Rob and please dont be a stranger. If you ever have any questions when you are on the road, you have our numbers, so call or text us (just be parked when doing so!) From all of us, we wish you much success Matt! Ben
Expérience fantastique: I really enjoyed everyday I went to this school. I am now a certified AZ driver because of the personal interest Rob Stevens took in me as a student. Your success is his success and he makes sure you know it. Robs experience on the road enabled him to answer every possible question I could think of. The support i received enabled me to pass the road test first try and feeling confident going into it. Anyone looking for proper training on how to operate a transport and really learn a pretrip should attend the Smiths Falls campus. It really was a great experience for me that I will always remember fondly. Thank you all so much!!
Andrew: 2 things. 1) you earned your licence. We never taught you how to pass the test, we taught you what is expected in the industry and you took hold of those teachings, you practiced and the examiner told Rob that she struggled to find anything to mark you on which is why you got only 4 marks on the entire test! And 2) We are extremely lucky to have Rob, to have Rebecca and to have Mike Yearly who just joined us as an instructor in Smiths Falls. They are all committed to ensuring we are training at the highest standard and my hat is off to them. Remember Andrew, driving is a priviledge, protect your licence and the people you share the road with by using all the quality teachings passed along by Rob and the best of luck to you in your new career!
Expérience fantastique: What an amazing company!! Very helpful! I would like to give Rob (Buck) a big big thank you from the bottom of my soul. You were so helpful and patient. Your a very knowledgeable man and I have mad RESPECT for you and all that work there! Sincerely, Devon Lebrun
Rob has found his calling Devon, there is no question about it and there is no doubt we are blessed to have him working with us. He is an exceptional person and a terrific and dedicated instructor. Remember that it was never our goal to teach you to pass a test! I hope that you take to heart everything that Rob has taught you and that you use the knowledge and expierence to keep yourself and the other road users around you safe!
Expérience fantastique: Wonderful school, very well organized and professional. Danielle and Buck are the best! They go above and beyond to set their students up for a successful future in trucking. If you are looking for a trucking school this is the place to go - hands down!
Thank you Jeanette! Rob is an incredible person. We are so lucky to have him teaching at our School. He is an amazing ambassador for the trucking industry and I will pass along your kind words. Congrats to you and please do not be a stranger! Come visit!
Expérience fantastique: I needed to get my DZ license done pronto for an upcoming interview for emergency service and the amazing staff at NA Driving Academy made it happen! Danielle was AMAZING to deal with, really, she spent an entire day communicating with the other NATDA office managers in the region so that they could accommodate my short timeline, finally finding some space in Smith Falls and Kingston. If my first impression of NATDA wasn't great already, I then met my instructor Rob "Buck" Stevens. Buck is an awesome guy, and now someone I consider a friend; filled with trucker stories that could lure anyone to the open road. A great teacher, Buck has tons of patience for those willing to learn, and he is genuinely invested in the success of those looking to join the "brotherhood" as Buck would say. He met me on his own time on a Sunday for a couple of hours just so I could have a bit of a refresher in preparation for my MTO driving test. Needless to say, when the day of the test arrived, I was more than prepared, not to mention confident. Buck teaches you for the real world, and doesn't just "teach to pass the test". By the time I got to my driving test it was an absolute cakewalk. Buck was my first call after passing my road test in Kingston, and his excitement for me just shined through the phone, he was genuinely proud and happy for my success. I was then also contacted by Danielle after hearing the good news, asking why she wasn't my first phone call, haha she was so happy for me! Honestly, the whole staff at NATDA Smith Falls are really wonderful people, all so invested in your success in pursuing a career or interest in commercial trucking. I'll most likely drop in just to say hi whenever I end up in Smith Falls. Thank you Thank you Thank you! You guys are the best! Also got to give a shout out to Dave from Kingston who helped with my Z endorsement, and who was supervising on my road test day. And props to Jodi the office manager in Kingston who worked with Danielle to schedule everything. So happy to have met you all!
Nick..... Thank you for your kind words, but in the end it was your passion and commitment to yourself and your goals that made this experience worth every minute. You definitely hit me with a puzzle to solve with your short timeline however anything is possible with the right team and here at NATDA we have just that. I was definitely surprised that ROB was your first call and not me on the day of your road test.......LOL J/K We are so proud of you Nick! I am personally grateful to have shared your jouney with you and to hear the excitement in your voice the day you passed your test was exactly why I continue to do what I do everyday to ensure others get to experience the same feeling you did. We wish you nothing but the best in your future and good luck with your new career change. Thanks Danielle
Expérience fantastique: Thanks for all the help. I enjoyed the course. I learned a lot. Thanks again!
Expérience fantastique: Big thank you to the team at the Smiths Falls location. A special thank you to my trainer Rob Stevens, if it wasnt for you i wouldnt have passed my drive test today. Another AZ driver on the road. Thanks Buck
Hello Chad! Thank you for the review! We consider ourselves so lucky to have Danielle and Rob! They are great mentors! At the end of the day however its you who has work for it and you did. Your effort, your hard work, you practicing with your checklists and it all paid off! Congratulations and trust me when I say that Robbie is very proud of you as we all are!
Expérience fantastique: The staff are very helpful and friendly. The instructors are highly qualified with years of driving experience all over North America as well as being dedicated educators. The office staff I’ve been in contact with in 2021 have been highly educated, possessed a great deal of real life experience and copious amounts of perspicuity and perspicacity. It is such a relief to receive lessons from such wonderful people. Don’t let the rural location fool you, I’ve lived in Toronto and Tokyo for the past 30 years and you will be just as challenged here on the roads as you will be anywhere. More importantly they will prepare you to be able to drive anywhere.
David I understand that the photos you posted are of you on the weekend practicing in the yard. Trust me when I say its the only way to get really good at a complete and thorough pre trip inspection! We are not talking about being coached to answer 6 simple questions at a test. Knowing what you are looking at, why you are looking at it and what you are looking for is the foundation of road safety for the transportation industry! Have your checklists in your hand along with Schedule 1 and keep going around and around and around that truck. Crawl inside and out and when you think you have it down, do it some more! A truck never stops teaching you! Trust us! Keep up the good work!
Expérience fantastique: Such an amazing training experience provided here. Rob (Buck) has an incredible skill for training, extremely helpful on honing in my skills as a driver and teaching the rules of the road in a manner that is easy to digest and retain. Wouldn’t have learned as much as I did with a different trainer in the same amount of time. Danielle in the office is also an amazing admin, she was able to juggle my own schedule within the training schedule and made for a super seamless experience from start to finish. Can’t thank these two enough, thanks to them I am a fully licensed and exceptionally trained AZ driver. If anyone wants to upgrade their license, NATDA Smith Falls is the place to go.
I could not agree with you more! Danielle, an AZ over the road driver in her own right teamed up with Rob - These two people are incredible. Super chemistry, positive attitudes, always striving to improve and never compromising on quality. When you combine their infections positive attitude with a student like you that has the same attitude you end up on top of the world which is where you are now! This is your moment Cian we could not be more proud of you!
Expérience fantastique: Highly recommended . Danielle and Instructor Buck (Rob) went over and above their job duties to help me , any way they could . My appreciation will never be forgotten, for the staff at NATDA . Thank you so much STY
Imagine you Steve! You get your road test cancelled because NATDA trains not only with 53 foot trailers (not 20 foot empty container chassis) but imagine that we even have a load on it! Danielle and Rob fight to get your road test slot back for you yesterday, and thats after you arrived back in Brockville, you then turn around, come back to Smiths Falls and nail your exam! The exam is nerve racking enough, you come up to Smiths Falls for your exam, get turned away, drive home, turn around drive back and nail it. Who does that? There are very few things we know for sure in this life but there are a couple of them we know today. Danielle and Rob rock as a team in Smiths Falls, looking after the students as they do, and you clearly have talent, confidence and superior knowledge of this industry. I have never see a student do what you did! You should be proud of your accomplishment yesterday. Adversity to a gold medal performance. Good on you and proud to have worked with you! Ben
Expérience négative: We tried to send one of our staff here for training. North American collected a deposit, set a date, had us get all the pre-requisites done (at the cost of several hundred dollars), only to cancel the course with less than a week of notice because they don't have a truck or instructor. Collecting a deposit, without adequate resources in place to deliver training is shady and dishonest. Beware of these guys, and certainly don't count on their word as any form of commitment.
Hello Alan and thank you for your comment. Kendra does her best to plan out future dates for her next courses but in the current environment its a bit more challenging than normal. We did offer you another course date in the not to distant future but that course date does not work for you and for that we apologize. We wish it had worked out. With respect to your deposit we have already or are in the process of refunding back all of your monies. You are more than welcome to enroll in the next course date at the beginning of March if you find that your work plans change and you have time to attend. Thanks again for the comments Alan. Ben
Expérience fantastique: Great School. Rob and Randy are fantastic instructors. I highly recommend this school.
Expérience fantastique: Hi. Thank you Kendra for all your support during my course and testing with MTO. You have great communication skills and you have done fantastic job during my time at North American. Thank you again.
Thank you Najam for the kind words. We wish you the very best moving forward in your new career and hope that the skills, processes and procedures we have taught you will serve you well down the road!
Expérience fantastique: Everyone that I've dealt with at NATDA was friendly, professional, and dedicated to helping every student succeed. Thank you Chantelle, Rachel, Stan, Pascal, Marc, Alan, Bill, Claude, and Ben for everything that you do to assist students with becoming professional drivers!
Thank you Gavin for choosing North American to train you. It was our pleasure
Expérience fantastique: Such a great experience. My instructors were great. Thanks Chuck, Mark and Joe. Thanks to Donna for preparing my new resume for my new career.
Expérience fantastique: North American Transport Driving Academy, it’s a school you can be sure that the owners, office staff and instructors will be with you every steps of the way through your course. I am lucky to see a lot of people succeed and seeing them have the feeling of accomplishment is what makes my job feel gratifying. You won’t be disappointed that’s a fact!! It’s now up to you, you owe it to yourself to come in and see for yourself.
Expérience fantastique: My brother Howard Hoffman took their AZ Course, He hasn’t stop raving he got his License. I couldn’t be more proud of him. We live near Golden Lake Ont and his commute was good and one of the reasons he chose this school, as well as the smaller classes Howard says “thank you Chuck and Donna they are amazing, always making me feel comfortable and it was more then a course it was a friendship” as Howard’s sister I see the pride in Howard and his great success has given him more then words can say.... thank you
Hi Joselyn, Thank you for your kind words. Howard was such a great student and gave 100% each day. He was focused and driven. We are so proud of his success. Howard received his ACZ License because he learned all the knowledge from the most qualified instructors. Congratulations Howard! Glad we were a part of his success. Donna Runions - North American Transport Driving Academy Smiths Falls.
