I did the eight lesson package and had all my lessons with Juan who was very patient, kind and helpful. 100% recommend doing your lessons with him if possible! Naj was also very accommodating and replied fast to emails regarding scheduling and Werner did my 45 minute pre-class 7 test warm up and gave me great tips. Passed my test on the first go! Thank you all for your help :)

Expérience fantastique: I did at GLP course with this driving school and it was amazing! Growing up, my whole lofe i was so scared of driving and convinced I would never drive. However, im writing this after just passing my N test! I had a lot of driving anxiety going into this but my driving teacher Juan helped me so much i truly believe he is the reason i passed. I also did theory classes with Doug and it was very comprehensive and helped me understand lots, including even how to change a flat tire!! Truly an amazing course and absolutely worth every penny. Expérience fantastique: I tried out this school as I wanted a professional's instruction to help me improve my driving skills and the reviews for this place were good. I purchased the 14 lessons package which offered 1.5 hour lessons and a warm-up/car for my road test. With these lessons and my own personal practice, over the course of 7 months, I passed my class 7 driving test on my first try. Naj booked my lessons and was consistent with getting back to me and providing me with detailed information so that I could pick lessons that fit within my schedule. Even when an instructor canceled several lessons, Naj did a great job with providing me with possible replacement lesson openings right away. I do suggest that you confirm each lesson as we did have some technical issues with an email getting lost in an email chain. Most of the lessons I took were with Juan and he was a wonderful instructor. He provided great constructive criticism and provided tips and suggestions for skills that I felt I was struggling with. He was also patient and calm, which was great because it allowed me to remain relaxed and focused on the road while driving. I also appreciated that he adjusted our lessons to cater to any skills that I wanted to focus on, including techniques that were not going to be tested in the class 7 road test, so that I could build confidence in a safe environment. I highly recommend him as an instructor and hope that he'll still be working when the date for my class 5 driving test draws near! Overall, I had a very positive experience with this school and think it's good value for its pricing.

Naj was helpful and very responsive for any booking and rescheduling requests I had. Doug taught me everything how to be a safe driver and he's a funny guy so it's not boring driving around with him. I’ve been in the passenger seat and witness to many very close calls where he wasn’t equipped to handle the situation. I believe his instructor was Doug. It’s atrocious that he was passed and I believe this school is a scam. Beware.

Expérience négative: I booked at least 30 lessons in the span of 2 years and I failed all 3 tries of my road tests. Ended up having to retake my written test. I had 3 different coaches from the school and they did not prepare me for the road test. I would not recommend the school

Expérience fantastique: I booked 16 lessons for 24 hours total of training over the course of 6 months, as an adult first time driver. Naj facilitated the bookings with consistent and clear communication, and was accommodating with my schedule. I mainly had Juan as my instructor; he was patient, kind, and gave instructions in an easily understood manner, with helpful reminders. He was also very encouraging and pleasant company in the car to chat with when I was feeling more comfortable, but also respected the times when I needed silence to focus on driving safely. With his guidance, I was able to pass my road test on the first try. Highly recommend this service for anyone of any age looking to learn or to improve their city driving and gain confidence in many situations.

Expérience négative: I had a really great lesson with the driving teacher but unfortunately I had an absolutely TERRIBLE experience with the school itself. On one of my lessons which I had pre-paid for, the car broke down around 20 minutes into our hour and a half lesson. It took someone from the school 45 minutes to come and give us a new car and at that point we only had time to drive back to my house. When I called a few weeks later to discuss this (I was very busy at the time and didn't have time to call earlier) they told me they were not willing to give me any money back and there was nothing they could do for me. When I asked to speak to management they told me this was not an option. I called twice more and was told that I would get an email from management (I did not), and later was told I would get a call from management (I did not). I was told that there was no one else I could speak to and was refused any contact info for management, even though "management" was supposedly the ones making the decisions. I'm normally pretty easy going but this was honestly an incredibly frustrating experience and I would absolutely not recommend using this driving school.

Expérience fantastique: I had a very positive experience with Johnsont's Driving School. I signed for one class and a test warm-up as I wanted to ensure I would pass my road 5 test as those are super hard to schedule. Scheduling and paying for my classes was super easy and fast. They even send reminders when close to the date of each class. My instructor was Werner, who was very professional, timely, patient and knowledgeable when explaining all the little things I needed to be aware of in the Richmond area. I managed to pass my test in a first try and can confidently thank Werner and the driving school for that.

I'm lucky to have Kwan as my instructor, he's one of the best teacher I've yet met. He is patient, calm even during stressful situations, informative, kind, respectful and is always on time. Expérience fantastique: We purchased a package of lessons for our teenage son, who had been driving for awhile but was nearing his road test and definitely needed to polish up his driving skills to ensure he would pass the road test, which he did! The service from Johnston’s Driving School was immaculate. Naj did an excellent job coordinating the scheduling. We were impressed with his professionalism and excellent customer service and support. He accommodated our requests as best as he was able to. Doug, our son’s instructor was exemplary! We could see our son’s driving skills and abilities improved rapidly upon starting his lessons with Johnston’s Driving School and working with Doug. I am so glad that I googled best driving schools and came across Johnston’s Driving School. The reviews were excellent and now I have added my own experience as well, which was very good.

Expérience négative: I had a horrible experience with this school. Very messy administration, lots of unanswered emails, messy online systems, making it very difficult to book lessons. The instructor stressed me out by constantly talking in my ear, raised his voice when i made mistakes, and did not help me build confidence in my own judgement. Had to pay for extra lessons at another school that actually taught me to drive. Only got locked into this school for its the GLP package, otherwise i would avoid this school at all costs. Waste of money, and the instructors are hazards to new drivers.

Expérience négative: The instructor was late in bringing me back to ICBC Centre for the road test. As a result, the staff and examiner asked why I was late. After writing a complaint letter to the driving school, they did not admit their mistakes, and refused to refund a portion of the fee. From my experience, once they accept the payment, they won't provide a good quality of service.

Expérience négative: Costumer service was great, regretfully the classes were not. I bought 2 lessons and the Road Test package to pass my road test as an experienced driver new to B.C. The instructor was impatient and often disrespectful, raising his voice, intervening regularly by taking over the wheel and the pedals. Yes, driving in Canada is different and there are plenty of things you need to learn in order to pass your test and drive safely here, but it only takes a bit of learning that every experienced driver can do and does not merit unprofessional treatment. I was so stressed after my 2 classes a day before the test that I had to call a friend who had recently passed the road test. He took me out on a drive to review things calmly, which was bigger support than the one provided during the class. The instructor also over-dramatized the road test context, insisting that I would be pressured by the evaluator. This was not the case, the evaluator was calm, clear and neutral and I passed the road test, albeit the tension and stress the driving instructor had generated. There are likely cheaper and more professional driving school options out there.

Expérience négative: DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!! I don’t know how it is that this driving school manages to get such a high reviews rating online. I have been trying for weeks to just get a hold of them. They have a really nice website with lots of good information and great testimonials but they are simply IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of. I have called numerous times over the past weeks. I left several voicemails, and did not receiving any call back. I have tried texting but would not receive a response. I left an online request for a call back and I have not heard back (it says online that I would get a call back within 24 hours too). Miraculously today, I called and someone answered, but she immediately put me on hold, and then hung up on me. This was the last straw for me. I gave up finally today and managed to call another driving school who picked up my call right away and booked immediately with me. The reason why I kept trying to reach them is that I read the reviews online saying that they are good and that they are close to where I live. BIG MISTAKE!! On closer review, I found that there were actually lots of complaints on the same issue too. This has been going on for quite some time and the owners have not addressed it. DON'T BOTHER WASTING YOUR TIME AND MONEY ON THIS DRIVING SCHOOL!!

She passed today ('N') and she is very excited. I wish I would have enrolled my daughter with Johnston's driving school at the onset of my daughter getting her 'L'.

However, a family emergency has come up and I need to go away, so I tried to re-book my lessons - this school is impossible to contact now. They refuse to deal with you over the email, they never return calls, and whenever I call myself a man answers who says he's not able to help me, asks to leave my name and phone number, and that's it. I am now just hoping that I will be able to get my money back

Expérience négative: I am not sure how anyone has actually been able to take lessons with this company. Apparently you’re supposed to book lessons by calling them, but that only works if they call back! First time I called I was greeted by a message telling me that my call is valuable (ok), and that they would return my call. 4 days went by with no response. I called a second time and spoke to a man who said that he couldn’t help me (what?). He proceeded to take my name and number so that somebody qualified to help could soon return my call (apparently we disagree about what SOON means). Nobody called me back. The next day, for the 3rd and last time I called AND sent a text. Neither received a reply. I was ready to give them my money, but they didn’t want it. Now looking for another school! Thanks for nothing, Johnston’s! Edit: Apparently Johnston’s is very quick to reply to publicly published negative feedback. They responded to my review within an hour! I guess we are supposed to discuss driving packages and make payments over google reviews? That’s the only way that I’ve been able to get a response haha!

And then they picked up the phone and said would check my email address，and hang up immediately. I needed to book my lessons as soon as possible because I have road test in two weeks. Expérience fantastique: Zero experience driving to N on my first try! I purchased 16 lessons, plus the exam warm-up, I had no other driving practice outside of this. Because of my very limited availability, I had lessons with 3 instructors, all of which were incredibly knowledgable. I had the bulk of my lessons with Norbert, I found him to be a very calm and patient which worked very well for me. I felt very well prepared for my road test after my lessons with Norbert. I passed my road test the first time that I attempted it, I believe this was largely due to Norbert being such a great teacher. I chose Johnston's driving school on the recommendation of a friend and I will be recommending Norbert to anyone learning to drive! Thanks.

My original class 5 road test was scheduled for November (3months from now), but somehow I managed to get a road test spot in 3 days. With such short notice I called Johnston’s driving school and they managed to book me in. With the road test packing you do a 45 min warm up before your road test and you get to use their vehicle. At that point I haven’t driven in a few months and I was worried if 45 min wasn’t enough time to get used to the vehicle. Thanks to my excellent instructor Naj, he showed me the routes they might use and exactly everything I needed to know as a refresher. 45 min was also plenty to acclimate to the car’s handling. Thanks to Naj I passed on my first try!

Expérience fantastique: Ok,soo...where do I start...Well I passed the road test on the first try yesterday. Maybe nothing too difficult for someone but, it's a huge success for someone who has been anxious about driving forever to the point of having night mares about having to drive somewhere. Mr.Werner thought me an essential life skill and I will never forget him. I just took 4lessons with him,before I got the only appoitment available in Summer in a town I've never been to before.Mind, my husband was getting crazy about my lack of technical skills needed for driving.3 weeks ago,he was teaching the reverse and parallel parking using the hot wheel cars...:) 4 lessons later with Mr.Werner plus 3 lessons with a different driving school in the actual town of the road test and I passed on my first try! My husband got me a new washer and dryer and the dishwasher for this yesterday!!! I mean,I also prayed,which helps too and also took it easy as I didn't expect to pass. Expérience fantastique: Over the last 6 months, I have been taking lessons at Johnson’s Driving School. It was money well spent. I had three different driving instructors Doug, Nej and Warner. All three of these instructors have been working in the driving industry for countless of years and have been former road-test driving instructors themselves for ICBC. Each of them provides world class driving knowledge and they really care about you improving your driving skills. All three instructors really love teaching students and as the student you will have an amazing time learning from them. In terms of teaching, the instructors offer amazing detailed advice on what to look out for both on the road test and in normal life driving situations. They will also take you on ICBC test routes to simulate real-life ICBC driving tests. As a student, you will build up driving confidence and you feel motivated to not just pass your road test but to also become a better driver for life. For someone who is forgetful, I passed my class 5 road test on the first try due to their teachings and ICBC driving test practices. I would highly recommend this driving school. If you are a student eager to pass your next road test, this is the driving school for you. If you are a parent, looking for a school that provides world-class instructors, this is the school to register your son or daughter for. Even though, I passed my Class 5 test, I will still be taking driving lessons from this school. You know that saying “Learn for life,” you can never learn enough ways to get better at driving from this driving school while enjoying the learning process.

Expérience fantastique: After driving for 40 years (including being licensed to drive bus in Vancouver), I was faced with having to take a road test to regain my class 5 drivers license. I can guarantee I would have failed my drivers test without the help of Johnston's driving school. Package deal is reasonable and they deliver. I particularly loved the fact that they pick and drop off. I have had several instructors from different driving schools and he was by far the best. Relika was also great in accommodating me with lessons on last minute notice and she would always reply to emails very quickly. Overall, I would highly recommend Johnston's driving school - I had a wonderful experience and they helped me pass my driver's exam the first time I tried it.

Expérience fantastique: I had Lisa as my driving instructor. She was very helpful from the beginning to the end and always adjusted to what I needed during my learning experience. I liked her "point of no return" method because it helped me get into the habit of calling them out, so I would know exactly when I can stop safely before the yellow or I would have to pass through the yellow. This reduced a lot of hesitation for my driving. All in all I think she was a great instructor, thank you Lisa!

Expérience fantastique: My son had Naj as his instructor. He has endless patience and is an excellent teacher. I would highly recommend Naj for his ability to teach kids who may need a little extra help learning the ins and outs of driving. I had a conversation with Naj while my son was taking his driving test. He is an all round nice person as well.

Expérience positive: I took the GLP program at Johnston's having no prior driving experience in Canada, and only a couple months of driving experience in India. After two weeks of classes and one-on-one lessons, I passed my driving test on the first try. I had the opportunity to try all three instructors at the school. Doug and Gord are a pleasure to ride with. Lisa on the other hand, is extremely annoying. Instead of just giving you feedback on your driving and letting you make the adjustments, she will excessively take control of the wheel. She also has a weird habit of calling every single green light we drive through as "point of no return". I think Doug and Gord became too comfortable riding with me, because when I took a warmup class with another driving school in Abbotsford just before my driving test, the instructor there had fresh feedback for me about some things I need to work on. By the way, Doug, Gord, and Lisa will all disagree on a few things, so I find it valuable to try all three instructors to get a feel of their styles. Gord is the most practical, Lisa is the most by-the-book, and Doug is somewhere in between. Likewise, the A-B-C grading for the one-on-one lessons is inconsistent between the instructors. The progress cards need a complete redo. The A-B-C letters don't help me as a student figure out what I'm doing wrong and what I need to work on. I think it would be more valuable to use an ICBC road test sheet during each one-on-one, then on the progress card write down the amount of mistakes made in each category rather than assigning a letter grade. This would make it much clearer how a student is actually progressing, as opposed to the A-B-C system which is extremely subjective. Lastly, the in-class lectures. You have to take three of these. The classes seem to lack structure and a clear curriculum, but they are none-the-less fun to attend due to Doug's interesting stories and quirky personality. All in all, this is a good driving school and I would recommend it to anyone looking to do the GLP program.

Expérience fantastique: Purchased the 8-lesson package deal with Naj as my instructor. He is very knowledgeable, calm, and most importantly, patient. I made a lot of errors starting out and was very nervous, but he always provided feedback in a respectful manner. Finally, I have my license and I feel confident being on the road. A special thanks also to Relika, who always responded quickly to my emails and accommodated to my busy schedule. Excellent driving school, highly recommended.

Expérience fantastique: My first introduction to this company was an emergency car rental for a road test, no lessons yet. They were able to accommodate me on less than a weeks notice, and were fantastic. After failing for going into the cross walk on a red light, I decided to try them out as instructors. I did just 8 1.5hrs with them just to try them out, and managed to gain new knowledge and techniques on driving. I decided to try the test again and this time passed. I recommend them for various reasons, first the instructors knowledge were more attuned to mixed city driving than other company's I tried that felt more for just suburbs. Second their vehicles were always clean and had the instructors steering wheel which is awesome and comforting when learning how to drive. Third the staff both instructors and office staff were always accommodating and professional, and final the price was competitive worth the cost. I will defiantly be using them again when I go for my road test in 2 years.

I have to mention that his encouragement really eased my nervousness before the road test, which help me pass my exam and boost my confidence. I took my very first 3 classes with Mr. Chunker. He was a great instructor as well. He picked out my "tunnel vision" problem right away and made me fix it.

Expérience fantastique: I recommend this school. I had 4 classes (as recommended by them) to take my class 5 road test. I had 12 years of driving experienc3e from my home country but the laws in BC are very different so all the classes were essential. I also had the service to use the school's car for the road test and a 45 minute class before the road test. This was a package and the price was average compared with other schools. Since it is a smaller school, the treatment in more personal. The two teachers I had were great and the office staff was very reliable and helpful.

Expérience fantastique: I would like to give five starts to the driver instructor, Mr. Naz from Johnston’s Driving school. He is a wonderful, polite and calm instructor, gives you all the best tips, advices, suggestions and helps you through the process of passing your road test. I had a very short time before my test attempt and we hired Mr. Naz and he gave me only four training lessons (one of the lesson was just before my test) in four days back to back. I passed my road test with full confidence. In short, I would highly recommend Mr. Naz and Johnston’s driving school if you want to take the road test.

Expérience fantastique: My experience with this school is different , i took the refresh package which is 1.5 hours lesson and the warm up lesson plus using the car for the exam , and i failed the first time The manager called me and he said he will make me use the car again for a second retrial They were amazing with me and did everything to help me out get my license in my second trial. P.S. try to book your exam in Point grey or Richmond and stay away from Burnaby :)

I have a busy schedule and had to change the lesson times several times, the scheduling person and Lisa were both very accommodating and respond quickly to phone/email.

Expérience fantastique: Johnston's Driving School is awesome! I had come to Canada with previous driving experience, but not enough to confidently drive in Canada. I had been shopping around for driving schools for a while, but when i had called Johnston's Driving School, they were the only ones who gave me a call right away. They had me paired with Nash (Most amazing instructor ever!), and over the course of about 8 months i had taken some lessons. Nash helped become confident enough to pass the road test in one go! Johnston's really is one of the most professional and reliable institutions i have associated myself with. Punctual, polite, friendly and accommodating. One call (and enough notice) and they are ready to help resolve any conflicts as soon as possible. If you are looking for a driving school and want a good bang for you buck, this is the place! It may seem like you are paying more compared to the other driving schools around, but their quality and delivery of service was much more phenomenal than i ha expected. Hands down one of the best! And Thank You again Nash. You are an awesome instructor!

Expérience fantastique: I was a very nervous driver but after my lessons with Naj I felt extremely confident while driving and I improved I think, a lot compared to when I started. In just 5 lessons I was ready to take my road test and I passed! Naj is a very patient and caring instructor he really helps you feel assured of your driving skills and just overall he is a great teacher.
