Expérience fantastique: Communication skills were the key quality I was looking for in a driving instructor. I've worked in a communication-based profession for many years. The keys to great communication are knowing what to say, when to say it, and how to say it with the right level of detail. Shayan is an absolutely masterful communicator. His demeanor was always calm and supportive. His instructions were always precise. He's explanations were clear and the notes he left and diagrams he drew were very helpful in the learning process. His knowledge was very impressive. I asked lots of questions during our lessons and every single one was answered accurately, promptly and precisely. Shayan had clear lesson plans which he altered to suit my needs from session to session and even within a session. If there was an area I needed more practice on he would adjust the lesson to give me that practice and feedback immediately. He knew exactly how much to challenge me with things that were new or slightly uncomfortable. At no point did I feel overwhelmed and I always felt safe behind the wheel. His preparation for my road test left me ridiculously well prepared. The test felt very easy compared to the level of complexity of our lessons. The vehicle we practiced in was in excellent condition, extremely easy to drive, and easy to navigate parking situations with. As someone learning to drive in my 40s, I knew my experience and needs would be different from a teenager learning to drive. It was important to me that I partner with an instructor who was comfortable teaching people of all ages and background. Shayan was the perfect fit for my needs. I can't imagine someone doing a better job. His professionalism, communication skills, knowledge, and preparation for my road test were excellent. Thanks Shayan! See you in 2 years for my Class 5.

I was looking for an instructor who offered just on the road lessons as I had some driving experience before, but was nervous to try and pass the ICBC road test. Expérience fantastique: This driving school literally changed my life. I had extreme driving anxiety prior to my lessons with Alex. I had even tried another cheaper driving school in Victoria, but it ended with me having a panic attack and ending the lesson early. With Alex, he was so calm and explained things very clearly. When I shared some things that specifically made me nervous, Alex made sure that we spent extra time practising in those situations until I was comfortable. He is an incredible instructor and teacher and I am so grateful to him. I passed my driving test after my very first try, thanks to him. Expérience fantastique: Before my first lesson my technical skills were not great and in 90mins Shayan taught me everything. And after another 90mins I felt ready for my test. He was super patient and his expertise was incredibly helpful. Highly recommend this driving school!

Expérience positive: Everything was good for the sessions I had with this driving school. However, I got disappointed but not knowing that my instructor is not available before my road test and the for my road test. I paid for three sessions and then I found that my instructor can’t be available those days that I requested before my test. I wished he could tell me sooner so I’d not take any class with them. Spending $600 for three sessions and finding out that the instructor is not available was just waste of money. I highly recommend students to ask the instructors in advance and to see if they are available for the day of their road test or even for just practicing. I was hoping that instructors were more responsible and could think about paying $195 is not a small amount. It’s their responsibility to tell students and see if they book their test. Negotiating or talking about these small things can help students to think if they want to go with other driving schools or stay with this school. I was hoping they were more responsible.

Expérience fantastique: Shayan was great! He gave me a bunch of pointers on how to improve my driving and even drew some great diagrams to help explain the maneuvers and ideas. Very clear, calm, and professional instruction. At the end of the lesson, I got to keep the large checklist of driving skills he had filled out, and the diagrams, which I used to study. Check out his videos on youtube too. They're super helpful!

Expérience fantastique: Short story: I've just passed my Road Test for Class 5. Long story: l've recently arrived to Canada and faced a need to pass a road test to change my Ukrainian DL to Canadian Class 5 (BC) DL. (important note: I've had driving experience before) Being anxious about possibility of failure and worrying about differences between Ukrainian and Canadian rules of the road - I took 2 lessons with Shayan. Throughout the lessons he was 100% supportive, polite and patient. As I am not so familiar with Victoria - he showed me where instructor could lead me on the Road Test. During the stops Shayan was explaining things which were not obvious to me and drawing sketches with comments/advices (so I could refer to them later at home). After all, I can only highly recommend Zula Driving School.

Expérience fantastique: I wanted to get my full license so I went ahead and booked a number of sessions with Zula Driving School before my road test (as it's a sneaky test here in Victoria). I was then introduced to Shayan as the instructor from the school. I was incredibly impressed with the amount of knowledge and skill Shayan possessed, as well as his sense of humour haha. Each session flew by like nothing and with his support, I was able to ace the road test with no sweat. I also have to mention that I was grateful for the little details such as the lack of driving school decals that would normally be plastered all over the vehicle. Expérience fantastique: I passed my test last month so this is a late review. Ever since I’ve started taking lessons from Zula, I’ve gained a lot of confidence in driving and learned a lot of techniques from both instructors, Alex and Shayan. I’ve met both of them and they’re both really friendly, calm and patient. Most of my classes were with Alex though. He’s very uplifting, knowledgeable, and most importantly, I felt comfortable driving with him. Although I didn’t pass my test on the first try (which is completely my fault.. nerves and all) he was very comforting and he even taught me how to correct my mistakes on my first try. What I also liked about Zula is that you completely control your time. You can book your classes on days and time you’re available. It doesn’t have a sit in class so you’re going to have to read the basics and get familiar with road signs which I highly recommend. They are both very visual and they will even draw pictures of what the car would look like outside, which I appreciate. For future students, I wish you a fun time driving and learn a lot! Be a safe and an observant driver. I find that it helps me learn more if I voice out what I see around me when I scan the road.

But inspite of a long hiatus, my instructor Alex was very patient with me and was very detailed and thorough with his lessons. There were clear learning objectives for each lesson which helped me keep track of everything I had to know for my road test. As someone who is typically nervous while driving, Alex helped me raise my confidence and made it a very pleasant and smooth experience overall. You practice specific skills like parallel parking and 3-point turns, with an instructor who is calm, supportive, and funny. You also get to take multiple practice tests to feel comfortable and know what you need work on. After 5 or 6 lessons I felt very prepared and was able to pass my test first time!

Booked two classes, he was on time and prepared both times and gave me great feedbacks. Both Alex and Shayan give you an educated view of driving in their lessons - there is a process in how you think and act as a good driver and their lessons teach you exactly that. My driving improved considerably and I grew more confident with each lesson. I passed my road test on my first attempt because of the work they put in to make me a better driver. They work hard on you, so come with an open mind and ask any questions - they are more than happy to help. Their lessons are completely worth the money. I saw it as an investment in myself.

I have been driving for 11 years with my N and working up my confidence to take the test was feeling like a lot! I had done a lesson through another driving school and it had made me feel more nervous and somewhat confused. I did one lesson with Alex and my confidence and clarity of knowledge required improved so much. The feedback and instruction was professional, calm, kind, clear and constructive. He confirmed that I was ready for my road test and thanks to a cancellation, I took it 3 days later and passed with lots of positive feedback about how safe and smooth my driving is. It helped me have more confidence in general on the road and for that I will forever be grateful. So much that I didn’t start learning until I was 32. The longer I waited, the more anxious I became about getting behind the wheel. Shayan was extraordinarily patient, kind and encouraging as an instructor. His calm demeanour and teaching style really helped me gain both the skills and confidence to feel comfortable in my ability to be a safe and observant driver. I only took three lessons but that was enough to get me up to speed and pass my road test on the first try! I saw the amazing reviews this place had and was distrustful that it could be all it was cracked up to be, but it absolutely was. Expérience fantastique: Can't say enough good things about Zula— I got my Class 5 in just one try after enrolling in their courses I had years of driving experience from my home country, but I still felt very anxious about taking the Class 5 road test because of all the stories I heard from fellow newcomers/immigrants. Upon doing my research and looking up driving schools in Victoria, I found Zula and decided to book some refresher courses with Alex. His chill but precise teaching style worked super well for me.
