Fantastic experience: I got set up with Urban Riders through a work connection, but I can easily say — after getting the opportunity to learn from Marty I would have chose them regardless. Marty is top dog when it comes to learning the safety and skills necessary to be a confident rider. He was extremely patient and kind, taking time to thoroughly explain any useful information that was needed to pass each test. Big thanks to this fella, and highly recommend for anyone looking to start riding!

Fantastic experience: I had a great time learning with John. I did a class with him and rented one of his bikes for the MST test. The classes were great, he explains things very well, very nice guy! The bikes are also great and he also included helmet and gloves. I will definitely look for him again for the road test!

Fantastic experience: Top notch, patient, humorous instructors who can expertly coach pure beginners, former riders, and experienced riders in a safe, fun, and relaxed environment. The program was excellent with incremental skills development, perfectly balancing time in the classroom with time on the bikes. Small class sizes offer full support and oversight, and post-class support is stellar. I strongly recommend Urban Riders to get you riding safely and confidently.

Fantastic experience: John, Matt, and Warren are incredibly funny and friendly on top of being knowledgeable. I went from stalling as soon as I started moving the bike to passing the skills test in just a weekend. You'll be in good hands if you learn from them.

Fantastic experience: John is very nice and extremely professional. He was able to guide me through all the process of getting my class 6 from the very beginning, giving me accurate instructions and teaching everything that I needed. Noah was one of the best instructors I have seen in my life, focusing on my weak points and constantly giving me feedback to improve. In the end, I got my class 6 first try and every penny was worth it! I would make every thing again if needed, so I definitely recommend them!

Fantastic experience: When I took the course with John Buddo at Urban Rider Motorcycle School in the Spring of 2023, I had no previous motorcycle riding experience. By mid-Summer, I was fully licensed and riding in the city and highway. From the first theory lessons, to the two full days of riding practice at SFU, to the personalized class and up to the preparation lesson for the road test, I felt accompanied all the way. John was always very professional, knowledgeable and helpful. He was there at ICBC with a school bike for my Motorcycle Skills Test, which he also booked for me. I realized John really cares about his students becoming safe and confident riders. During the course, he gave his students very clear explanations and instructions as well as practical advice. This is a course I truly enjoyed. The learning environment was amazing and the classes were small enough to get personalized attention. I definitely recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn to ride a motorcycle. Gracias John!

Fantastic experience: Recently registered for the Small Group Learn To Ride course with John and it was excellent. John is an amazing instructor - extremely experienced, professional, and provides lots of hands-on examples and recommendations with riding (and bike maintenance). 10/10 would recommend and have referred all of my friends to his course. If you are considering, sign up early as his courses are smaller in size (5 or less students per session) and usually have a waitlist.

Fantastic experience: I can't say enough good things about John and Urban Rider. I went from rookie, to passing my MST the first try, and passing my road test the first time as well. Unlike other schools I checked out, John focuses on smaller classes with more one on one time which I found made a HUGE difference. My road rides were one on one rather than being 8 students to 1 instructor. Can't thank John enough and highly recommend him to anyone new or experienced.

Fantastic experience: John is the best instructor out there. He made sure that I was comfortable on the bike and gave me clear and precise instructions. I only took two classes with him, he made sure that I was ready for my test. He will send you videos after your practice and those are really helpful. The video makes you self- conscious about your riding and mistakes and his commentary in the video is very precise in how to correct those mistakes. All the gears were ride ready according to the weather. Again, thanks John for the classes, I passed my test first try with almost no to negligible mistakes on the road.

Fantastic experience: *Calm, knowledgeable and professional* Step 1 completed - passed the skills test (1st try.... never ridden bike with clutch before) There was no way I would have passed this without the guidance and advice given by John. His tone of voice keeps you calm even though there's tons of things running through your head. Next goal..... ROAD TEST. and I'll continue to use John until we accomplish that goal.

Fantastic experience: I signed up for Urban rider’s course having never even rode a moped. John was a fantastic instructor and got me up and running in no time. I felt ready and confident (albeit a bit nervous) for both my MST and road test. His years of riding and extensive knowledge of both tests helps you know how to quickly refine your habits and skills. If you’re on the fence about learning to ride, I highly recommend it and John is the man who can help you get there and feel safe and confident doing it.

Fantastic experience: John is an excellent teacher, and if you're searching for a private motorcycle school you should absolutely send him a message. He helped me build confidence in the specific areas I was having trouble with, and was always very patient and kind. I had a lot of fun learning and I'm confident with the skills he taught me I have a solid, safe foundation to begin riding on now that I have my license. If you don't have a bike of your own, he will let you borrow his teaching bikes all the way through as well. I went from zero experience to fully licensed, highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: John is a fantastic teacher! I attended another motorcycle school beforehand and didn't have the best learning experience there. The private lessons with John were a completely different story - he helped me gain confidence on the bike, and empowered me to not be afraid of riding and to enjoy it. His attention to detail and practical step-by-step tips were very helpful - I never felt overwhelmed and really appreciated his approach of gradually working on different things. He also provided videos after our lessons so I could review and analyze my riding. Would definitely recommend John to anyone who is looking to get a solid riding foundation!

The lesson was such good value for what he provided in instruction and the video with commentary. Watching the video was really helpful for preparing for the test in the days leading up to it. Fantastic experience: I found John and Urban Rider after a very bad experience I had with another instructor. I've been riding for 20 years but moved to Canada recently and had to adapt to the Canadian way of doing things. The other instructor damaged my confidence and even though I know how to ride I was unsure I could pass the exam. But John understood the situation I was in, accepted the challenge of reversing the damage and going with him ended up being the best decision I could have made. He was patient, explained my mistakes to me, told me how to correct them for the exam. His video approach helped me immensely. After the first ride I got the videos commenting my ride, pointing to what I was doing right and wrong and that made all the difference. My second ride was way better and I managed to get my full license after passing the road test on the first try without a single mark. In Surrey nonetheless where the examiners are known to be very thorough. A perfect ride that wouldn't be possible without John's incredibly valuable help. Urban Rider won my trust forever and I really recommend the school to anyone that wishes to ride motorcycles the right way.

Fantastic experience: I used to have a license back in my country, but I had very little experience riding, and hadn’t been on a motorcycle for almost 6 years. I felt like I had to start from zero because I was not confident in my skills. I also used to get very nervous every time I was riding. I had 3 classes with John and passed on my first try!!! It was great to have one-on-one training, it made me save time and money to focus exactly on the things I needed to learn. I couldn’t recommend him more.

Fantastic experience: Booked John for a Road Test Prep a week before my exam date. At our meeting spot, he took time to talk me through the test categories in great detail and asked what my weak spots were (shoulder checks). We then did the mock test ride and John was providing directions and feedback as we rode. He took a route that covered all the road test category checks. He pointed out several actions I needed to be focused on. He later emailed me a summary of the session. The next week - I passed! My test route was very close to what John took me through! My weak spots were my strong points! I don't think I would have passed without his session. I highly recommend John and his School services.
