Fantastic experience: I had an outstanding experience with the weekend training program! Ryans' skills, patience, and encouragement made all the difference. His teaching methods are definitely worth noting as he went into detail to explain the 'why' and 'how' , and not just 'what' we needed to do... making the learning not only easier to understand, but made it stick! He created a supportive environment that helped me build confidence and improve my riding skills. Alf was also a very supportive through the learning. I highly recommend this training for anyone looking to learn or enhance their motorcycle abilities!

Fantastic experience: Thanks again for the course this weekend, it was a lot of fun and i learned quite a bit. Daynard (hoping i got it right) was a fantastic teacher and was very patient when constantly correcting the same issues (i.e. eyes not high enough). From never being on a bike it was surprising how "easy" it could be. the progression training was just what i needed, taking all the small bits from the progression training and putting them together really helped a lot. I really enjoyed the road ride at the end of the last day. we got to experience "real world" driving along with encountering all the scenario's that we practiced for. at first, when Daynard had said we are going out on the road, I felt a little anxious but within the first 5 minutes or so (taking backroads/residential roads that weren't too busy) I felt very confident with all the skills that I have learned over the two days and had a lot fun. Thanks Again Shifting Motorcycle School!!!

Fantastic experience: Amazing school

Fantastic experience: I took the Learn to Ride course a couple of weeks ago and Ryan took me from never having stepped on a bike to being comfortable enough to be on the road over the weekend. He’s very well spoken and can explain things extremely well so anyone can understand. I then took the Road Test Prep course and I would highly recommend it, especially to people who don’t really have anyone in their life who rides and aren’t able to practice on their own. It was super helpful to be on the bike an hour before the test and get reacquainted with it while getting some last minute tips to brush up on. Overall a great course and I would definitely recommend to anyone looking to learn!

Fantastic experience: Just do it! Seriously couldn't be happier with my experience at Shifting Motorcycle School. The instructors were knowledgeable, patient, and truly passionate about teaching safe riding techniques. They made sure everyone felt confident and prepared, regardless of skill level. I also did the additional road test prep and it gave me the confidence I needed to ace my class 6. The techniques they teach you are invaluable to help keep you safe on the road and have saved my bacon a few times. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I had an amazing experience learning during this course. Everyone involved is beyond knowledgeable, and they take the time to work with each person individually and make sure everyone is progressing through each lesson. It was professional, fun and also very personalized, I would not have learned as much as I did anywhere else! I highly recommend taking courses here, the amount you learn is unbeatable.

Fantastic experience: It was a great class, I messed up many times over the 2 day weekend course but still got better over time thanks to their patience. If you do drop the bike they care more about if you got hurt over did you hurt the bike. I wasn’t 100% confident by the end of the 2 days but when I took an extra hour 1 on 1 with them right before the road test, everything started to fall in place for me more. Went from not touching a bike before Friday to having passed my road test and bought my own bike by the following Friday.

Fantastic experience: My son and I took a rider's course with Ryan the first week of June, 2024 and would highly recomend it to anyone looking for a course. The class was small, only 4 of us so lots of time to run through the drills, instruction and tips and free time to work through the drills we wanted more time with. Ryan is very knowledgeable and has great stories, he made the whole experience fun. Both my son and I felt absolutely ready for the road and licensing test. Great experience!

I had tried another school previously where I was sent away on the first day after paying nearly $800, with a tutor who unfortunately made discriminatory remarks. However, at Shifting Motorcycle School, it was a complete 180-degree turn! The tutors were incredibly patient and knowledgeable. Within just 3 days, I went from barely knowing how to ride to confidently shifting gears and maneuvering the bike. They tailored their teaching to my pace and ensured I understood every step of the way. It was such a relief to find instructors who are not only skilled but also genuinely supportive. Fantastic experience: Took a few classes with Shifting this spring in preparation for my road test. Email correspondence was timely and professional, and Danard was an exceptional instructor. I did my initial lean to ride course elsewhere but the lessons at Shifting made me far more confident than before. If they have spots open for the riding season they're absolutely worth checking out.

Fantastic experience: Took the Learn to Ride course May 25 and 26. Hadn't ridden before. Ryan is a great instructor and the class was well worth the price. Ryan suggested taking the road test prep course and that Id likely pass the road test. Took the road test prep course June 5th with Danard. He was very thorough and helpful during pre test ride, and answered all my questions and gave good feedback. I passed the road test having only ridden a motorcycle during the Learn to Ride and Road test prep courses,so that shows how great these instructors are and how good the course is.

Fantastic experience: Thanks a lot to Ryan for teaching me how to ride. He was super patient and chill, and he taught me in a way that was easy to understand. He knows a ton about learning and preparing for the test and helped me pass ! He made sure I felt confident and relaxed the whole time. I even booked the wrong date for the test, which was a pain for him, but he still took me anyway. He's an awesome guy, and I highly recommend him!

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended course and school. I find that the instructor/student ratio is good 1:5 which gives more coaching time to the students. Our instructor Danard took his time at the beginning to review step by step on how to operate the motorcycle until we feel confident and we had a lot of practice to ride the motorcycle. Any questions posted pre and post the course are answered very quickly by the owner Ryan. Thanks a lot Ryan and Danard and all the best!

Fantastic experience: Ryan and Danard are the best! I had Danard as our group instructor over the Fri-Sun LTR last week. I appreciated the emphasis on being a safe rider and building those habits. Receiving individual feedback on where to make adjustments to improve helped a lot over the 3 days. Definitely would recommend.

Fantastic experience: I enrolled in the women's class and this was the best decision ever. The instructors were so patient and gave clear directions. Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend this course to any new rider, or anyone interested in motorcycles. I did the women’s course, and when I came in, I didn’t know how to start a bike, but by the time the end of the course, I was able to ride on the road with enough knowledge to manage. Ryan and Danaard are wonderful instructors, they were patient, energetic and humorous, which creates a very positive atmosphere for all of their students. If you’re thinking about a course, I would say this is a wonderful way to be introduced to motorcycles.

Fantastic experience: Cool intence riding course. If you ever driven manual and a bike, 2 days from never ridden a motorcycle to 2 hours city drive is real. Small 4-5 people groups, experienced and attentive instructor. Right way to start your motorcycle journey with a right habbits.

Fantastic experience: took the learn to ride course as well as the road test prep ride course, highly recommend doing both, smaller class sizes so you get more 1 on 1, Ryan and his colleauge Danard are both great and only want the best of each of their students, took my road test today and passed first try, Ryan and Danard both came along for the prep ride before heading to the registry, really helped with the nerves before doing the test with the examiner, recommend Shifting to anyone wanting to learn to ride or even experienced riders wanting to get their class 6.

Fantastic experience: I really enjoyed my experience learning to ride here. The smaller class size really allows the amazing instructors to focus on any mistakes you may be making. The feedback they give is phenomenal and really helps you improve for your next attempt, it’s really easy to tell that they know what they’re talking about. Fantastic experience: I completed the LTR course from Friday-Sunday. I had zero motorcycle experience going into the course and was not confident I would be able to ride a motorcycle in 3 days. The instruction was thorough and clear and the way each step was broken down helped my confidence grow each day. The small group of 5 riders was great, I appreciate the group environment with some individual instruction when needed. It was nice to be able to try a couple different styles of bike as well. I enjoyed being able to complete the road ride at the end to apply some of the skills learned. I need to practice more before I take the road test but I can now say I can ride a motorcycle! Highly recommend Shifting Motorcycle School!

Fantastic experience: Took the LTR course last year at the start of the season knowing nothing beforehand. Ryan is an excellent instructor and he really wants to see the best in all his students. It’s evident that he is passionate and knowledgeable in what he does and that it’s more than just his job for him. He’s easy to work with and will take the time with each student individually in the class to address concerns. The small class size allowed everyone to get to know each other and gave me friends to ride with during the season (who I still keep in touch with today). I also took the road test prep course afterwards which is totally worth it if you’re not feeling confident going in or have much practice. He simulated the entire test and went through the grading process allowing me to pass first try. Just got on my bike again for a second season and felt confident in the skills I learned through the course. I’d have no hesitations recommending Ryan to anyone.

Fantastic experience: I took ‘Learn To Ride’ course couple weeks ago, came into it with zero motorcycle experience. Ryan took the time to teach and explain each portion of the course in great detail, he was very encouraging and knew his stuff! It was a small group, which I found to be very beneficial. I took advantage of the ‘Road Test Prep Kit’ they offer and was able to get my class 6 drivers license shortly after taking the course! I cannot say enough about the patience and the positive encouragement you will receive. I left feeling so excited to finally get my own bike and start officially riding! Fantastic experience: 10/10 would recommend Ryan and his courses! Ryan’s knowledge, skills, teachings, and his ability to connect with all the students and meet them where they are at, is all incredible. I was looking into motorcycle courses for my wife’s birthday and Ryan provided quick responses and flexibility during the booking process. In the end I last minute signed myself up too- which again, Ryan was very accommodating with! Before the weekend course I had barely even touched a motorcycle. The way Ryan teaches his course I knew I was in good hands. He is so thorough and his main focus is safety which put my mind at ease. I also did a private with him right before my road test which I also HIGHLY recommend and encourage if you are thinking about taking the road test. He gave me one-on-one instruction, answered all of my questions, practiced everything with me, and calmed my nerves in the parking lot while I waited. I passed and I honestly could not have done it without Ryan’s knowledge and guidance. Thank you Ryan!

Fantastic experience: Ryan was amazing from start to finish. Initially I was having trouble deciding what was the best option for me due to my hectic schedule and he was very helpful educating me with what was covered for the full class as well as the times and dates they were offered over some emails back and forth. Due to my schedule I took 2 one on one classes (1 hour each) with Ryan and I could not believe how much useful information and skills I received. He was extremely proactive assessing my skill level and helped me build better habits while riding. If you are the type of person like myself who likes to ask questions and receive immediate feedback and advice, I would highly recommend a one on one session. That being said I can't imagine how well taught his full course is and how much more you can learn from his knowledge and experience. All in all if you're unsure, send them an email, try them out. I'm sure you'll be happy with your decision. P.S - After those sessions and a few days riding with others I passed my road test. Not everyone will pass first try but he teaches safety, which is the most important thing. Thanks again Ryan!!

It was my first time ever being on a motorcycle, and the instructors make the information easy to understand and will clarify any questions you have. The small class sizes make it exceptionally great; you get more 1 on 1 time with the instructors and more practice runs at the exercises. It definitely helps build riding confidence and skills. Danard and Ryan are great, patient and professional! Would highly recommend especially to first time riders.

Fantastic experience: Shifiting Motorcycle School is one of the few places in calgary where they will rent their motorcycle to the students for the road test. Small class size with excellent professional and courteous instructors with lots of experience. This is one of the best schools in Calgary! For future students - don't forget to take your test as soon as you feel comfortable!

Fantastic experience: Professional instructors, Super informative ad they have years of experience. Took the beginner course and learnt a lot from Ryan and Danard. Super small class so that you will get help on every spot (doesn’t feel like you’re in a crowd). Maintained fleet and also you can use riding gears.

Fantastic experience: This is the absolute best riding school in Calgary! Small class sizes, detailed explanations about safety, the bikes, how to accomplish certain maneuvers. Ryan is incredibly patient with students as well as encouraging. He really goes above and beyond to make sure each student is comfortable with their riding experience, and most importantly, having fun while doing it! Would highly highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn how to ride.

Fantastic experience: I have had a one-on-one practice ride with Ryan just before my road test. Even though I was rusty after not having ridden motorcycles for quite long, Ryan was very helpful and shared his valuable experience about how to ride safely on the road and how to pass the test on his Kawasaki Ninja 250cc. Moreover, he is a very approachable and friendly guy. He takes the successes and failures of his students very personally. So, if you need some extra practice before your road test, Ryan's school is the right place to go!

Fantastic experience: Ryan puts on an excellent program! I went from having little to no motorcycle experience to feeling confident on the saddle of a bike in a short amount of time. You can tell that he works hard to make the best possible experience for his students, and that he genuinely cares about the students and their growth! Fantastic experience: I raced motorcycles from 10-18 and then never really rode one again. Closing in on 50, I decided I wanted to learn to ride once more and signed up for Shifting's classes. There's no doubting the owner's (Ryan) pedigree - his bio says it all. The class size was perfect for individual instruction and correction and his attention to detail was obvious. It's easy to get nervous or frustrated when learning to ride - you'll make mistakes and it's a dangerous hobby - but his manner of helping you past those feelings was exceptional. The part I really appreciated of this class however is him helping you undo all the bad habits you've developed while driving in the safety of the cabin of your car/truck. On top of the weekend course - I also booked an hour of Ryan's time before my road test and it was the PERFECT way to get the nerves out and get some last minute advice from Ryan. 5/5 stars

The small class size was really beneficial and one of the reasons I chose this school and now recommend it! After the course, when it comes to renting a bike to take your class 6 road test, he is quick to get back to you, on time, flexible to what you need, patient, and really there to help you get through it and become a safe rider. Fantastic experience: Ryan is a great instructor, he teaches all the skills you will need to ride the bike on a road and build your confidence to ride by yourself. I would highly recommend taking the one on one on the test day since he rides behind you like the examiner will do and gives you points to focus on when you actually are doing the test. I had more points deducted in my driving test than my riding one and I passed with flying colours.

Fantastic experience: I took this course during the week between 5:30pm - 10:00pm Monday - Wednesday. The instructor was very professional and positive. I would recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn how to ride for the first time. The only thing I would have liked was to have more time on the actual roads but I do understand the time constraints make it difficult to do. I would definitely take this course again if I needed too.

Fantastic experience: After taking a course with another school a year ago I needed to a refresher and a rental for the test. Ryan was great, he ran through the basic skills to make sure I had them then did a couple of excursions on the road emphasizing safety and the important skills for the test. On the day of test we did another road ride to freshen up. And I PASSED THE TEST. I would highly recommend Shifting Motorcycle School.

Fantastic experience: Ryan Cuddy was a fantastic instructor and had an excellent selection of exercises to grow your skills on the bike and give you confidence on the road. He was extremely patient and very knowledgeable in every aspect related to motorcycles and knowledge of the road. If I could rate this 6 stars, I would. I will recommend this course to anyone of any skill level. The skills I learned in his course I will use for all my future adventures on a motorcycle.

Fantastic experience: Awesome instructor, I knew nothing to about riding a motorcycle to getting my class 6 in a span of 2 weeks. They go slowly and take the time to explain everything clearly. The classes are smaller so we got a more hands on training from our instructors. This was an overall great learning experience, and I would highly recommend my friends to come here.
