Young Drivers of Canada: Reviews
Positive experience: In the past we have had very good experience but I see a trend towards a declining value and service level with with our recent experience. Online courses are good but definitely more expensive than competitors. Its difficult to contact their servuce team. Long waits. The biggest problem is booking in car driving lessons. We couldn't book sessions within a reasonable time and we had a recent session canceled or driver no show. Maybe they are short drivers. But I'm not sure the premium you pay is worth it these days.
Fantastic experience: Abdool is the goat
Positive experience: The customer service was great! Tom Vigonich Was very helpful. The in car lessons with young drivers helped a lot with my driving. Although it was a timely process, it was well worth it.
Positive experience: This review is long overdue but I very much enjoyed my young drivers course. I finished the young drivers curriculum in the fall but have my G2 test in a few weeks and feel very confident going into the test. I am very thankful for my driving instructor Carrie Nye. She was a great instructor. She was kind, funny, caring and made me feel comfortable when I was driving. Carrie is a great teacher because she truly cares about her students and anyone would be lucky to have her as their teacher. Yes, the online portion was hard to get through at times because of my procrastination but it was overall a good experience.
Fantastic experience: Young Drivers was a great help in assisting me with learning how to drive effectively, and most importantly, safely. Recommend this strongly.
Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with my instructor Lorna. She was very calm throughout everything and gave great instruction.
Positive experience: The room was a bit cramped for how many students were in the class - I took the one over the march break - however the instructor had a nice sense of humour and I still remember many of thing that were taught!
Negative experience: I have had terrible experiences with Young Drivers. Firstly, I have seen 2 instructors. Both instructors were not good - I don't think this is a refelction on them, but on the company as it was clearly their training. When I went to another driving school (where I passed my G2 test on the first try), they said that many of these little ticks might help some drivers, but were not necessary. It was very distracting as a new driver to have an instructor nit-pick things that were not necessry for safe driving or for the G2 test. It took away from the big messages. It was constant critisism. When I was with Young Drivers, the instructors kept saying I wasnt ready and wouldn't be for a while. My other driving school instructor said the complete opposite (and was right when I passed just a few weeks later with minimal lessons). Secondly, booking. I started lessons in May. They had very few spots available. I get that they are busy, but maybe they should hire more drivers or accept fewer students so that they can serve their current ones well. Since I have 3 jobs and a hectic schedule that is always changing, I was unable to book my lessons very far in advance. Often I would book them and have to cancel them the week before when I got my schedule. This made it almost impossible to ever have lessons. I finally asked for a refund when I had a couple lessons to book and they told me it would be 3 and 6 weeks respectively with ANY INSTRUCTOR. When I went to another company, I was able to book for the next week (and book 3 in that week if I wanted to). Thirdly, it is way overpiced. Considering the horrible service I got, I overpaid. The other school I went to was about half the price and double the service.
Fantastic experience: WE had an absolutely amazing driving experience with Young Drivers of Canada. Particularly our instructor, Abdool was fantastic. He has a great way of connecting with teens, making them feel at ease and comfortable driving. He was a great asset in our quest to a G2 licence!
Fantastic experience: During this first year of driving, Young Driver's of Canada helped me to pass my G2 test with a perfect score! This was thanks to my in class instructor (whose name I forgot) and in car instructor (Carolyn G.). By giving very informative lessons and making sure you're prepared not only to pass your tests, but to be safe when driving in the future. My in car instructor especially helped me in that regard; she never gave me a "free pass" on tests to make sure I could prove that I could perform certain maneuvers. She also stayed patient with me, no matter how many times I needed a refresher on parallel parking! Along with the many tips on driving that even my parents didn't know about, this driving school taught me a lot! For anyone looking for a driving school to attend, I highly recommend this one; the price is certainly worth it!
Fantastic experience: I learnt a lot from Young Drivers of Canada, especially from Paul.
Fantastic experience: The Yd program is so awesome i wish it was mandatory for all drivers!
