Negative experience: If I can give 0 Star I will , my kids spent 40 minutes in the cold. And it's not the first time. The app mybusstop shows nothing it doesn't work, so there is no way I can check if the bus is coming or not. Hopefully you guys work on this.

Negative experience: Today I experienced a huge stress when a school bus almost crashed into me at full speed. I understand everything, but the driver did not even apologize. I hope there were no children on the bus

Negative experience: Once again our route has been affected by delays but this time not due to breakdown. Because the substitute bus driver won’t even show up! Our bus driver took a two day leave ahead of time. So yesterday and this morning it showed a 80 minute delay! I was so irritated because we are middle schoolers and we have a ton of work to do there and in the afternoon we are exhausted but the bus doesn’t even show up! If you arrange a substitute driver atleast have them show up on time!

Negative experience: Today is the 14th times delay during two months! And it delayed 60+90mins, so you want grade 1 students to wait until 7pm to go home? Every year the price increases, and the service quality decreases. This is the 14th time, since the start of the year, the bus has been delayed. Yesterday it was delayed for 2 hours in the morning and another in the afternoon, today it was delayed another 60 minutes. If you can’t find bus drivers maybe you can start paying them more! Where is all the money we pay going to? Your pockets?
Hello Joyce, We are very sorry your route is one of the few lacking a permanent driver. We are working very hard to cover that route and have a permanent driver assigned but unfortunately with the tight labour market it remains unfilled. This is resulting in continued challenges with your route and we apologize for this. With aggressive recruiting efforts we hope to have it filled as soon as possible.

Negative experience: Please do yourself a favor and don't even apply here. They lie about how much you're paid per hour (the recruiter told me that they only pay for the time you were on the road, not your pre-trip or post-trip). Also, I popped in to see the recruiter (because the ad said that was possible) and all she could do was roll her eyes at my questions about the position. I understand you may be having a bad day, but how do you expect to hire people when you have that attitude as the first impression? I'm sorry I wasted my time here.

To be clear, pre-trip and post-trip is considered on-road and we do pay for that. We follow the employment laws and all time worked is paid. Negative experience: The app I’m using for my kids Mybusstop, is really bad! Could you please update it! I have to wait every single minute to refresh! Plus the driver I have for my route so rude.

Hello Omkar While I can not speak about your application in particular, please know the requirements you mention above - required license, years of experience and clean abstract are extremely important, however they are just a few of the numerous other important factors that are involved with an application review. I am sorry to hear you were not happy with your outcome. We have extremely high standards as we transport people. Whatever the outcome, please know a great deal of consideration goes into each application review.
Negative experience: I’m sorry but I’m VERY disappointed in Southland Transportation for the regular problems they have with mechanical breakdowns and not being able to hire drivers who don’t regularly call in sick or for whatever other reason they cannot be on time to pick kids up in the morning or from school in the afternoon. With the hugely expensive bus fees they charge parents to transport kids, it’s totally unacceptable the poor level of service they provide. My daughter has been “late” to school more times that I can remember due to being over an hour late getting to school and has also had to wait over an hour to be picked up at the end of the day from school to be driven home. This makes for a very long day for these kids not to mention the extra time parents need to devote to pick them up. Never an apology or explanation from this monopoly of a school bus service! They should be held accountable and have to justify their increased costs. I’m guessing that they are like any other large organization these days it seems where they are top heavy with management and bureaucracy, fluff and marketing “Safety is number one” yet the condition of their vehicles is always called into question. I’m sure I’m not the only parent who is frustrated with this so I’m offering my two cents… I mean the almost $900/year to this outfit for sub-par service and performance. Do better Southland !!

Fantastic experience: I received a short notice that I needed a bus for a field-trip. I called up about half a dozen different bus companies but they were not able to accommodate me because of such short notice. So I sent out a mass e-mail to about 10 charter companies here in Calgary. Southland Transportation was the first one to respond to my e-mail (and with a great deal too!) I spoke with a representative over the phone immediately who then personally drove my group of students to their field-trip destination. He arrived to our pick-up location early. The bus was clean and looked brand new! He was very friendly and communicated everything well. I would definitely recommend Southland Transportation Services to others.

Fantastic experience: It's fairly easy and affordable to book a charter from here. They're definitely better than First Student and Wilco Transportation. They have a lot of newer bus as well; one being the clean air Blue Bird buses that run on Propane. If you want to get fancy, you can book one of the white C2 buses that come equipped with air conditioning (the yellow bus don't have this), luggage compartment above seats, and less of the school bus feel. They can fit around 72 passengers in one full size bus.
