Fantastic experience: When looking for a top choice of driving school, Destination YVR keeps coming up, and for good reason! I recently completed my GLP program here with Richard as my instructor and it was an incredibly fun and informative experience. We had in-class lessons, simulations, and group collaboration as part of the program, as well as a few take home components. There was even a class where we physically went through the car to learn about its parts and also to take part in witnessing traffic with a critical eye. On top of that, learning behind the wheels have been tremendously helpful. I started with a great deal of anxiety being on the road, but slowly Richard helped me gain confidence in my driving and kept me focused on the fundamentals. I'd recommend moving to 4hr lessons when you can/available to! Thank you again for thoroughly prepping me for my road test and help giving me confidence on the road! Edit: I had just passed my road test and got my N license! I passed it with very minimal marks and was told that I passed it with "flying colors" by the examiner. Fantastic experience: I recently completed the GLP program with destination YVR driving school. I felt that the program really helped me to ensure my safety as a good solid driver. The classes were really well put together and had a really good fun spin to them which helped to keep my interest. The classes were very informative and really helpful for me to develop my skills as a new driver. Richard was always very welcoming and easy going and made learning fun. The handouts for information was amazing and extremely helpful in remembering basic things needed to prepare for the road test. The in car lessons went really well. Richard was highly interactive and motivational. He gave every tip I’d need to know on following distance, and managing stop signs that have an obstructed view. Overall the course was incredibly informative and highly engaging.

Fantastic experience: With the short time I had with Richard, it’s safe to say that I learnt a lot from him about driving, hazards, safety, and much more. He pushed me out of my comfort zone on the first driving lesson I had with him; his saying: “I’m the type of instructor that will throw you into the deep end.” He’s kind of saying, “ You won’t know until you try.” And that's exactly what he pushed me to do. Fantastic experience: Before I took driving lessons, I'd had my L for 4 years and one small accident that made me feel really anxious to drive. I remember my first lesson with Richard - I was a janky driver and so nervous! But Richard was very patient with me and helped me feel at ease. He is an excellent instructor and gives the right balance of encouragement and constructive criticism. He will teach you all the skills to become a safe, defensive driver, and prepare you to successfully pass the road test. Plus he's hilarious and fun to chat with! Fantastic experience: 'One shot is all you've got and all you'll need, Hau', Richard said to me. My deepest fear was to disappoint someone who had so much trust on me and taught me so well from Day01 of my lesson. So here I am, one shot and I PASSED my Class 5! Driving for the first time on a different side of the road and steering wheel, with signage that were so alien to me was one hell of a ride. I remember Richard holding the steering and stepping on the brake so much on his end trying to maneuver me back to the right lane on my first few lessons. It was then I knew passing the knowledge test doesn't mean you're familiar with them and Richard did an excellent job nailing all these theories into me. Richard could be incredibly strict at times but no complaints, I did not take it personally as I believe that was necessary in order for stubborn learners like me to pull myself together and it worked! Overall, Richard is a good instructor, good mentor and a good friend. I can't recommend him and his driving school enough for anyone out there that are looking to do great both during the test and on the road in the future. Thanks for everything Richard! Fantastic experience: 10/10 for Destination Driving. I took GLP lessons with Richard, started without any knowledge on driving. The classroom lessons were prompt and to the point. A lot of scenario based discussions and learning. I would suggest to attend the GLP classes even if you are not enrolled for GLP. The driving lessons are very practical and carefully modeled around you. Richard cares about his students, so he ensures that the driving lessons cater to your personal needs. He has been driving professionally for a long time and is a treasure trove of knowledge, so feel free to ask questions and he will answer you freely. I passed my 7N in one go, all thanks to Richard. So if you want to learn how to drive safely and pass your driving test in one go, give Destination Driving a try and you won’t regret it.

I was initially incredibly scared to drive, and wasn’t sure if I’ll ever be able to drive due to anxiety on roads. Taking the GLP program gave me a lot of confidence in understanding the theory of driving, and was also useful to understand all of the different scenarios that you can face on the road. For those who might be intimidated by taking the GLP classes, don’t be! It’s a friendly environment and you’ll learn lots. Fantastic experience: In a nutshell: You can rely on Destination YVR Driving School to set you on the right path to becoming a smart and safe driver -- confident in passing the road test, and driving independently thereafter. Full review: I had a license from my home country and when I took the driving test over two decades ago, it was a glorious fail and that was it for my driving until April 2023. I challenged myself to get over it, but I wanted to do it right this time. My partner found Destination Driving and its glowing reviews, and urged me to check them out. Assessment day with Richard came. "Let's see how you drive." Gulp. I had not been behind the wheel in decades, I reminded him. Within half an hour we were on the highway! Double gulp. I made it back and well, was it ever a trial by fire, BUT did I "get over it" quickly. This is where I started, scared with my stomach up my throat, saddled with past traumatic experiences. I was terrified deep inside. It helped a lot that Richard took over as needed (ie he has a steering wheel, brake and gas pedals by the passenger seat), while giving me the safe space to try on my own. From day one, he insisted on having a good foundation. Solid theory and consistent guided practice develop good habits that will equip you well beyond the driving test. And I couldn't agree more! I am proof that when you commit to that, you will find "success". No, I wasn't a completely new driver, but I still attended a handful of in-classroom GLP (theory) classes with Destination YVR Driving. Forget that more than half the students were young. We were all there to learn, ask questions, share our experiences on the road, and learn from each other with Richard's guidance for navigating different scenarios. Hazard perception is hard, but going back to theory: see think, do. Ha! Driving-wise, Richard really helped me work on my weaknesses. I listened to his corrections. He reminds me to look LEFT-CENTER-RIGHT! I'll never look at another intersection or cross road the same way again. Haha. I went from being tunnel-visioned to someone who is a lot more aware of the surroundings. I feel much better knowing that others--and myself-- are safe when I'm driving. I've driven with Richard from Vancouver to Richmond, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Langley, and North Vancouver. I had a lot of practice and I knew I was ready to take the road test. Four months after I began my driving journey as a forty-something-but-never-too-old-to-learn driver, I passed my Class 5 road test on the first try. Before I drove out with the ICBC examiner, he asked me if I had any questions. I said No, but I'm excited! (Who is this person?!) At the end of the test, he said I passed and handed me a mark-free test sheet with "Good driving" written across it. Within 5 days of passing my test , I have driven on my own, went out for dinner with friends and dropped them all off (a thank-you for all the rides I've taken as a passenger), and got my Evo membership approved, too. Fantastic experience: After eleven months of driving with my parents, I began lessons with Richard. Even after my first lesson, I learned many things (including identifying some bad habits I had picked up in the prior months). Even with my busy schedule of school and 9-10 sports practices a week, I was able to get in for a lesson. I couldn't possibly recommend it enough. Richard has a very in-depth knowledge of the rules of the road and all aspects of driving. He is an excellent instructor who has helped me develop all the skills required to drive safely. Within 5 or 6 practices, my parents noticed a significant change in how I drove and my increased skill level. During lessons, he was incredibly attentive, noticing every move I made, providing feedback, and answering questions. I also took the entire driver training course, in which the classroom instructions were interesting and enjoyable. The in-class portion was very interactive, and I took many notes. Richard never let the classroom be boring, and time flew by. When it came time for my class 7N road test, I knew what to expect and what skills I would be tested on. I then successfully passed on my first attempt with zero marks deducted just two months after starting with Richard.

I took the Graduate Licensing Program (GLP) and I was able to quickly improve my understanding of the rules on the road. In the GLP program I studied with fellow new drivers. We worked together through different scenarios and learned as a team. My instructor was Richard, and I passed my Class 7 road test from the first attempt. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. By listening to his comments and directions, I was able to learn the proper way of driving and clear any bad habits. Richard genuinely cares about his students, and he works with them to reach their goals and succeed during their road tests. I cannot recommend him enough.

Fantastic experience: Just passed my class 7 road test with YVR driving school. I had driving lessons and GLP courses with Richard, and he is a responsible and patient driver. He helped me lots on driving skills and regulations, especially he can detect the weaknesses so that I can improve on those. And gladly, he companied my through my road test, and it was the first try and I passes. Thanks for his efforts, because my driving fundamentals come from him!

Fantastic experience: After almost a year of practice with Richard, I finally passed my class 5 road test! :) It’s amazing to see myself growing from a rookie who’s even afraid to start the engine to a confident driver making own decisions behind the steering wheel. Fantastic experience: I am a female driver who has a driver's license from another country for more than 20 years but has never driven a car. I didn't even think about getting a driver's license when I came to Vancouver until I discovered YVR Destination Driving School. The coach here has rich experience as driving instructors and are very humorous, but he is very rigorous and serious in the teaching process. The coach taught me a lot about the philosophy of driving on the road that I haven't learned from other driving coaches. After the coach's patience and detailed teaching, I passed the road test of the class 5 driver's license at one time. Fantastic experience: I found Richard on Google. He is a really nice guy. I got drive lessons because I was changing my Italian driver licence to class 5. Richard, even if for someone could seems hard, does his job professionally and he will get you ready for your test. Better to learn with someone strict and have and “easy” exam than have someone that he is nice to you but you’ll have many problems at the exam. He is really honest, he doesn’t ask you to do lessons on lessons if you don’t need them. Highly recommended!

Fantastic experience: I am driver from Europe and I had to go through all the process of obtaining a driving license in Canada from the scratch. Over the years I have developed lots of bad habits that would make passing practical exam nearly impossible.
