Negative experience: Don’t answer calls nor reply. Very unprofessional

Negative experience: SCAM ALERT. READ PLEASE. This driving "school" is to be avoided at all cost. I bought a "deal" on the website. The instructor was always late and cancelled quite often. There was a cat in the car and it smelled like tobacco. After patiently giving the instructor feedback and expecting change, I was told that my driving lessons will be handled by another instructor named Sofia. It turns out Lucas did not pay Sofia, who will not give me lessons. My driving exam is next week and I doubt I will pass. Please stay away from this place. It may have been a driving school at some point, but no longer is the case. I am currently in the process of initiating a charge back through my credit card company. Its a f**king mess.

Negative experience: I had a similar experience with Lucas as others have posted about recently. He wasn't on time for a single lesson, on average he was at least 45 mins to an hour late. On one occasion after making me wait for over an hour, he lied about being downstairs and made me wait another 20 mins, and then when I got into the car he offered me $20 to cancel the lesson. His car was smelly, dirty, had his cat in the back and food everywhere. He did not care that we was late every time and simply said "this happens". Absolutely horrendous service. The cheap rates they offer do not make up for it in any way.

Negative experience: I had my daughter book a few lessons with Lucas, he was tardy and one time he wasn't reachable. We waited for over an hour and when we did get a hold of him he said he fell asleep and wasn't able to be there on time. Please do not go to this driving school, despite it getting good ratings. There is much better schools out there who actually show up on time.

Negative experience: Supposed to have my first driving class with Lukas today. He showed up late by 20 mins. The instructor looked very nervous. The main problem was the interior of the car - a complete disaster, very messy, clustered with various random staff, like old computer monitor, cable cords, e.t. The smell of tobaco, alchocol and sweat was absolutely intolerable. This is not acceptable, and felt very sketchy.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend this place if you want to nail the road test. Luc is a wonderful instructor. He knows his stuff.

Negative experience: On my first lesson, Lucas was over 50 minutes late. He said he couldn't promise it wouldn't happen again. On the second lesson he didn't show up or respond to my message at all. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Fantastic experience: Luckas is really cool. Genuinely tries to help with all aspects. I am saying this after taking classes from about 5 different instructors :)

Fantastic experience: Absolutely recommend! Super professional. Good car (this is really important if you're taking the test w their car). Lucas' teaching style worked very well for me because he explained the why behind the rules. It was so effective that I still remember his tips and tricks today, almost a year after passing my exam. I already had 10 yrs driving experience, and Lucas was able to identify what I needed to adjust. I think I only needed like 3 hours total. I had a short lesson with Sofia, she was a good compliment and filled in any gaps! Really appreciated them both and would recommend to any of my friends.

Negative experience: I found this driving school to be very unprofessional. The instructor Lucas was passing out while I was driving and was not attentive to my driving. I do recommend this school. I wasted my time and money on this school.

Fantastic experience: I have taken my driving lessons with Lucas and I would highly recommend him if anyone is looking for a reliable driving instructor. He is not only capable in his job but also super dedicated and extremely honest to his work. He makes times no matter what and takes interest in teaching students not only the practice but also the theory behind driving. His theory lessons are excellent source of knowledge about different traffic patterns, intersections and real life driving scenarios. Fantastic experience: Lucas is a wonderful teacher! Although I had a driver's license from Bangladesh, I was very rusty and didn't drive in North America before. After 6 affordable lessons with TOPAS, I have been able to rent a car and drive it myself. Can't recommend them enough!

Negative experience: We are just on the freeway watching one of the instructors driving with no care. Changing lanes sporadically with no care of others on the road. I would never have this person teach anyone I know how to drive.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience learning with Lucas as my instructor. He is very knowledgeable and patient and made sure I had sound understanding on any rules or maneuvers before moving to the next step. He is very thorough in his practise and will pick you up on your mistakes until you don't make them again! This is a virtue to his teaching as it will teach you to be a great driver. He will teach you to his standards, not to 'just pass the test' as I have heard other instructors do. I was confident going into my test and I passed first time. Strongly recommend and I have already passed details onto friends who are ready to learn. Thank you again Lucas!

Fantastic experience: I moved to Vancouver from Ukraine and had almost zero driving experience in Canada. 4 lessons with Sofia was enough to pass the road test. She did a good job pointing out on and correcting my mistakes. Very good instructor. Recommend.

Fantastic experience: If you are the studious type who enjoys learning theory and analysis, this is the school for you. This school is highly meticulous in its training, and by the time you have your exam, you will feel confident that you know everything about how to perform in every driving situation, with no details left out. They even offer a free theory lesson right before your exam, so that all the rules of driving are fresh in your mind. I am very touched by how much the teachers here work tirelessly for their students to pass their driving exam. I was leaving Vancouver in a week, but I did not have an exam scheduled, so my driving instructor Luke went to talk to ICBC about potentially giving me an earlier exam time. Right before my exam, he bought me tea to help me wake up. So much dedication to helping their students!

He was friendly & helpful with clear vocal instructions and a binder full of examples and visual explanations of techniques and situations, he raised my confidence and skill behind the wheel incredibly fast. Passed my N test on my first attempt with their help. Would recommend to anyone.

Fantastic experience: Ok. So I had previously failed my road test 3 times and was starting to lose faith. Then I heard of Topas and decided to give it a shot. I could not have made better decision. Lucas is EXTREMELY professional and patient and will give you ALL the tips to pass your test. I had classes with Dylan also and he's THE BEST!!!! Fantastic experience: In only six lessons, went from barely being able to make a left turn and constantly missing school zones to passing my road test on my first try. Sofia is an awesome instructor! She's patient, understanding and knows how to teach effectively. She will definitely tell you when you make a mistake but in a way that doesn't make you feel dumb Shout out to Lucas as well! He's very knowledgeable and can go very, very in-depth about driving theory. Don't be afraid to ask him questions, he's very eager to share his experience

Fantastic experience: Topas driving school instructors are simply amazing. I called in on a Monday because I was able to schedule a closer date for my Class 5 road test which was to be on a Thursday same week this was really close, but I called in to Topas all the same and Lucas was able to schedule me for lessons between Tue evening to Thursday morning. I went in for my road test which was my first time and nailed it. Super excited I got my full class 5 licence at one go. Thanks Dillon and Lucas and thank you Topas Driving School.

Fantastic experience: Sofia is the absolute BEST! When I started driving with her, I had zero experience and sitting behind the wheel gave me an immense amount of anxiety and stress. She never failed to help me feel confident. She has lots of tips and tricks to remember certain road placements, parking, and driving skills. She knows the routes inside and out! I took a total of 14 lessons with her and passed my class 7 on my first attempt with a clean marking sheet. I truly owe my license to Sofia's amazing teaching and patience. Fantastic experience: Amazing instructor! After my classes were canceled by another school because the car was being repaired, I was forced to find a driving school 2 weeks prior to my road test. My friend and I already had experience driving in another country but never in Canada. I was relieved this school took us in with such short notice. Our instructor was Lucas and he was very thorough with his teaching. He was dedicated to making us safe drivers and explained the situations and reasons very well. The car that we got was brand new and easy to drive. I passed the class 5 road test in the first try, and my friend also passed for her class 7. I would recommend this school at any time! In fact, I already did to another friend and she is learning how to drive from square 1 with them. Thank you Lucas and Topas driving school!

Fantastic experience: Over the past few months I have been taking driving lessons with Topas Driving School. My experience with Topas has been positive. I learned a lot from my instructors. I would recommend Topas to anyone who desires to pass their Class 7 Road Test first time. I just took my first Class 7 Road Test AND PASSED FIRST TIME! I also recommend you take your Road Test in Point Grey Area. I would highly recommen taking your lessons with Lucas and also with Sofia. If you listen to their instruction and practice the skills they teach, you will have more chances to pass the Road Test first time then not. My current plans are to continue with more lessons. The number one reason to continue with driving lessons after passing your Class 7 Road Test is to ensure you don't develop bad driving habits. This will better prepare you for your Class 5 Road Test and will also increase your chances of passing your Class 5 Road Test first time. Examiners will allow for lack of experience when taking your Class 7 Road Test but their expectation is significantly higher when taking your Class 5 Road Test so the last thing you want to do is put learning how to drive on auto-pilot.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommended without any doubt! Lucas is amazing. Big shout out to Sofia as well. If you want to pass the driving test in one go take lessons from Sofia. She will make sure that you pass the test. All the best!

Fantastic experience: I recommend this school and specially the instructor Lucas. He is very professional and patient. I came from Brazil where the driving style and rules are different from Canada. He works/teaches everything that is necessary for you (student) not just pass the test but actually become a better driver. I had a class 5 road test and I successfully got my license after his classes.

Meantime, they explained everything in an easy way so it is always beneficial to get started and gain experience. Plus, totally worth the price!

Fantastic experience: Lucas was an amazing driving instructor. I have driven for 10 years in South East Asia and not in the past 3 years so I was quite nervous to take the road test in Vancouver. Lucas is very friendly and logically explains the reason behind what is necessary to drive safely in Vancouver. Topas never pushed a package and was able to create the driving plan that I need. After a few lessons and seeing that I was comfortable behind the wheel, Lucas encouraged me to practice on my own. He went above and beyond to facilitate what I needed to prepare for the road test. This resulted in my passing on the first try with no marks deducted. Even the road test examiner was impressed, he said I had a great teacher. I did - thanks, Lucas!

Fantastic experience: I went there because of proximity and the good reviews, and wasn't disappointed. After a bad experience with an instructor elsewhere (and a test fail), I wanted to do it right, and the ones at Topas felt super serious and professional. They are also very realistic, and care more about you actually driving safely and passing the test than trying to make a dime. My instructor was Sofia, who was very precise on the points I needed to work on, aside from being very fun and good for the confidence.

Fantastic experience: Lucas is a great teacher, he has lots of patience and explains things in a very logical way (which I appreciate a lot because who doesn't love math and physics?). As long as you follow his instruction, you will do everything perfectly. At first he's strict but once you start drive safely, you will see another funny side of him. Take it as your safely driving reward! :) I have been working on my driving skills with him and today I passed my class 5 test. I am very happy. Sad thing is that I will not be driving with him any more. :(

Fantastic experience: After moving from Italy, I took 4 lessons with Lukas and I passed my road test. I highly recommend warming up before the road test with Lukas. He will give you a lot of advice and a complete demonstration of the actual test. Passing the test is not easy, I had more than 10 years of experience and I failed my first attempt, so make sure you practice and take nothing for granted. Lukas can be rigorous, but this is exactly what you need to be prepared when you are facing the road test. If you know how to drive with Lukas you won’t fail your road test. Also thanks to Sofia for helping me with my busy schedule!

Fantastic experience: Only took 3 lessons to sharpen up for my test as I previously had my license. Lucas was really quick and accomadating when it came to my last minuite needs. He was able to move around his own schedule and as well get Sophia to go through a few lessons with me. Sophia is awesome! European lady who knows all the tricks in the book and super friendly and helpful. I'd reccomend people to give TOPAS a call as they're considered pretty decent when it comes to price range

Fantastic experience: I was converting my Polish driving license to Canadian and I had to pass the driving exam. After 2,5 hours spent with Lucas and Dillon I took the exam and easily passed it first time. They taught me all the rules and gave good hints how to drive in Vancouver. Fantastic experience: Taking driving lessons in Vancouver/ Burnaby/ Richmond is pretty expensive. I have tried quite a few driving schools in these areas. Most of them were just a waste of my money. After three failed road tests for my N license (each time on different issues), I took 2 classes/week for a month and half with Lucas from Topas driving school and finally, I passed my driving test this morning with flying colors. Lucas is very professional during lessons. He was mindful of teaching driving all the time. He pointed out every single mistakes that I was making and worked on that. The best part of his teaching is - whenever I made a mistake (on a turn/ intersection/ school zone/ etc.); he would always explain and made sure that I understood my mistakes, and take me back to the spot until I made it right (sometimes more than thrice).With him, I felt like I am investing my money to learn; not to just drive around. Believe me, I met few instructors in other schools who were more busy on stretching their back /using their phone /drinking water like crazy and stopping for toilet break/and sometimes even eating - than paying enough attention on instructing !!!!! Lucas always showed up on time; yet he adjusted my small requests like - different pick up/ drop off locations/ a few minutes delay on my part. Couple of days before the exam, he took time (15 min) to review the traffic/driving rules for free. That was a cherry on top. I highly recommend this school to invest your money to learn driving, specially Lucas.

Fantastic experience: I was a very inexperience driver so I had to take a lot of lessons to improve my driving before I passed the exam. The good thing with this place is that you can switch to different instructors with different teaching styles which makes the learning process more effective overall. Lucas is a very disciplined teacher who will point out in detail the errors you make during driving. Richard is a bit laid back which helps when you are an anxious driver who is easily stressed. Dillon is effective in understanding the patterns of wrong driving, the reasons why they occur and the best way to avoid them. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who either wants to learn to drive or improve their driving.

Fantastic experience: I've never driven a car ever and was able to pass my L road test on my first try with TOPAS with 25+ lessons with instructors Sofia and Lucas. They were really patient and made me adapt to driving in no time, pointed out the tricks and best way to drive. I'm really glad that I've chosen TOPAS to practice my driving and I definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of learning/practice how to drive.

My instructor, Lucas, took me to all those routes which are very common during the road test. He gave me lots of tips and suggestions to improve my driving skill. My practice car was very good. I was able to adjust myself within few minutes. Topas Driving School instructors are very well trained. Great option at a reasonable price!

Fantastic experience: I passed on the first try for my L road test! I had 6 hrs of practice with Lucas/Dillon and another 3 hours the week before my road test. Before my first lesson, I hadn't driven in 6 years+ and had very low confidence due to an accident. Lucas and Dillon takes the time to understand the type of driver you are and tailor the lesson to your needs. They're very patient and kind while promoting a stress free driving environment. I will be back to practice for my Class 5 road test and I recommend TOPAS to any driver looking for driving lessons.

Fantastic experience: Topas Driving school is definitely the best driving school in Vancouver! I seriously cannot recommend them enough - I gave my driving test today and passed! All thanks to Lucas and Sofia - my two instructors. I've been driving for 11 years in India but when I moved to Canada, I knew I needed lessons to learn the new rules and ways of this country! Driving in India is nothing like driving in Canada - so trust me - you will need a few hours of lessons before you can start feeling confident. In the beginning, Lucas gave me a short test ride to see what my level was so that he could suggest which package I should sign up for. He was not pushy at all, and told me a few flexible options. I had classes with Sofia and Lucas and they were both tremendous teachers. I felt very comfortable riding with them as they were extremely attentive and patient, and such nice people (the most important part!). I took the Cambie Course (8 hours) initially, and switched to the Broadway Course (10 hours) midway as I knew I needed more practice. I wasn't able to practice on my own or with friends, so learning with them was the only way to get more experience. My instructors went over every detail and question I had and I knew they made every effort to make sure I was a confident driver by the time of my road test. I have never written a review for anyone before - so I really mean it when I say these guys are worth every penny you spend on them! They will teach you and teach you and teach you, until you are absolutely ready!

Fantastic experience: Lucas was great. I came from italy with 10+ yrs of experience and Lucas was really good at pointing out every single possible mistake that the examiners could mark down during the test. With 1 class and the warming up before the test, i was able to address enough of the things i needed to adjust to pass the test comfortably. Also, he knew very well the area the test would take place in and even during my road test, i was able to go through areas i somewhat already felt comfortable with. Definitely recommend!

Fantastic experience: I had to transfer my licence to Canada, and I took lessons from the three excellent instructors: Lucas, Dillon and Richard. I haven't been driving for years and I had to re-learn. Lucas and Dillon taught me all the way until I felt safe to drive with my husband, while Richard gave me the confidence during my lessons before the test. I got my full licence on the first attempt. Fantastic experience: I took a lessons package with Topas Driving School in April in prep for my N test. Both Lucas and Dillon were incredibly helpful got me road ready in only a few short lessons. Lucas and Dillon have different teaching styles. With Lucas, I felt comfortable and confident that I would pass the test. While Dillon would challenge me into becoming a smarter, and safer driver in the godawful Vancouver traffic. Be sure to book lessons with both instructors to get the most versatility out of the package. The school also followed up with me to ask about my test, and I had passed on the first try! Overall, my experience with Topas was fun and top-notch . I would highly recommend the school as the instructors are very caring.

Fantastic experience: I have just passed today my class 7 road test at 1st attempt. I had never driven before starting the lessons with Lucas, and I took about 25 hours driving lessons with him. I have found Lucas is a very good instructor, extremely patient, always on time, straight forward. I feel that he really set me up for success, and I am really grateful I have learnt to drive with him. I also really appreciated that he was picking me up where it was convenient for me, not all the driving schools have that flexibility. Thanks again Lucas! :)

Fantastic experience: Thanks to the exceptional teaching on the part of my instructor Lucas, I was able to pass my Class 7 road test after no driving in nearly a decade! Scheduling was easy; he was very accommodating to my work schedule and location .We were able to log in several hours of driving during the after-work rush hour. Even on busy roads, I felt comfortable at all times, thanks to his clear and calm instruction. He always has good advice and handy diagrams that made the mechanics of driving make sense. Parking, turning, hazard perception, and more were all covered. Prior to the test, we ran a few practice tests and went over some tips on succeeding with ICBC. Finally, for the level of dedication and care you receive, the price is excellent! If you are looking for an effective instructor, please seek out Lucas. I cannot recommend him enough!
