Fantastic experience: You Bin Xie is one of the best driving instructors, if not the best I ever had. After failing the road test for 3 times, I was devastated, almost ready to give up. That was until I saw You Bin and his practice car right near the UBC campus where I was studying. You Bin was very observant and very precise with his instructions and feedback, but never was he harsh with his criticism. He knew the best way to correct and encourage my driving behavior. He was so patient and supportive always. After 2 weeks of 2-hour daily lessons, I passed my road test finally with no mistakes. I couldn’t believe myself. I became so much more confident and skilled driver based on just those 2 weeks, and I owe him so much. To anyone who is new to driving, or to those has been through so many road test fails as myself, I cannot recommend Benche Driving School enough. They are incredibly knowledgeable and educative, and also incredibly flexible with their schedule!

Fantastic experience: The best driving instructor out there (and I’ve had 5). Incredibly patient, kind, and concise. I have extreme anxiety and he made me feel calm and ready for the test. I have failed this exam 3 times before him, and his guidance helped me pass. He breaks down your mistakes in logical and kind ways, reassuring you along the way as well which helps keep the nerves down, and is very knowledgeable about the Kitsilano road test area. I cannot recommend his lessons enough.

Fantastic experience: When I flew to Vancouver last month and took an Uber to AIRBNB, I was confused about the traffic in Vancouver, which made me give up the idea of ​​renting a car in the first time. I've been driving for 15 years in Hong Kong & Mainland China in which rules or the design of the roads are totally different than Vancouver's. After I passed the knowledge test  40/40 (100%), I found a instructor on Google who was to help me take the Class 5 driving license,He is Mr. Xie .After I took the first lesson, I felt that my choice was right. Because the road conditions in Vancouver are completely different from those in other countries, even if you can drive for three months without changing your driver's license, I don't think you should drive now . You should find an instructor to train you on your driving habits and traffic rules first.Mr. Xie is that peroson. I believe he is one of the best driving instructors. He is very polite, patient, and encouraging. He will pick up all the details that need to be corrected. He has helped me clean up my bad driving habits so that my driving is safe for me and for other road users.So after one week of practice, today I passed my Class 5 road test , this is also my first time to road test. So I highly recommend Mr. Xie if you are a new learner or you are an experienced driver from other countries to get BC driving license.

I previously hired two instructors to help with exam preparation (I already had several years of driving experience before coming to Vancouver), but I failed the road test twice because those two instructors might know how to drive a car but had no idea what the exam was about. Fantastic experience: I previously had 0 driving experience and within 1.5 months, I was able to get my N on my first try! You Bin is a great instructor who will patiently guide you through different driving maneuvers and is very accommodating/flexible with his schedule. Fantastic experience: Ubin is very effective at breaking down the logistics of how to make any driving maneuver, he helped me fine tune my right turns and my parallel parking. I enjoyed the lessons as there was no stone left unturned, as soon as he noticed a deficiency, we focused on it, took a break doing something else and tried again until I became more aware and confident with a particular issue. I passed my driving test on the first try. Ubin was so genuinely happy that I passed and thanks to his lessons, I feel more in control when I drive. I feel the lessons had a great balance of allowing you to learn from mistakes but at the same time, not ignoring flaws in your form and flagging them. A very effective way way to learn. I should mention that I had taken lessons from another school before but they seemed to just keep adding more appointments and tearing down my confidence, it got to be pretty toxic I had to cut them off. Finding Ubin was a breath of fresh air, and I realized that the 15+ lessons I took from the other school hadn't taught me some basic rules that are essential for driving and passing the driving test. Ubin immediately taught me those essentials in the first lesson. I wish I had found him first.

He is also very strict and for very good reasons. He will pick up all the details that need to be corrected. One thing that I really appreciate is that he does not only focuses on what is required for the road test, but also goes beyond. When I am comfortable with driving, he will take me to complicated areas such as intersections with many road users or construction areas. It is important to learn how to handle these complex situations because it will not always be smooth driving in the future. So, I am really glad for these opportunities. I highly recommend Mr. Xie if you are a new learner or for refreshing to get BC driving license.

Negative experience: WORST OF ALL. Save your money if possible. - I am an Indian and as an Indian I faced humiliation and racial comments from you bin. Can’t believe it was really happening in front of my eyes. - He will start teaching you after 70min in a 90min lesson. Basically so that you take the next lesson also. Quite a fraud guy. - His notes are not even readable— that he gives to take photo. He can’t even print something and give to you for learning. (attaching the photo that I was allowed to take ) - I could have saved 130$ paying for 90min torture. Save yourselves from him. I am shocked to see other positive reviews. I took his lesson in the month of Sept 2023 fyi.

I attend a university outside of BC so I only had a couple weeks to practice driving and pass my Class 5 road test. I hadn’t driven in over a year — and in six 1.5 hour lessons with UBin, I passed my road test first try.

Fantastic experience: Best driving instructor in this part of town :) Although I had previous driving experience from another country, it took time for me to get used to the rules in BC which were all new when I started. I found Mr. You Bin to be a strict yet patient instructor who spent a lot of time going over the different rules with me and allowing me to practise. The result was that I was able to pass my class 5 road test in 1 shot after taking less than 10 classes. It was well worth the time and money. Glad I found him to teach me!

Fantastic experience: I hadn’t driven for a long time and then I found Ubin’s name on google and based on all the great reviews, I texted him. He got back to me right away and we had our first lesson the next day. He does make time for you and he’s very on time. Ubin is very flexible and a kindhearted teacher. He taught me a lot and never gave up on me. I felt so taken care of on my road test and I knew all the roads the examiner took me because earlier Ubin took me to all those places and corrected my mistakes. He’s precise and perfectionist. I only took 6 lessons with him ( including 1 lesson on the day of my road test) and I passed my class 7 first try. If you want to get your licence first try in a short time, I recommend Ubin.

Fantastic experience: I just had my road test today at Point Grey, in my first attempt after having a few practice rounds with Xie and it was perfect! He have helped me highlighting my previous driving vices and mistakes, so that I would drive safely here in BC. Very good instructor with valuable insights and knowledge, I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to feel more secure and confident for the road test!
