He does quite a bit of theory that helps a lot to understand all the different situations such as turns in boulevards, traffic lights turns, parking maneuvers... I'm a first time driver and I passed my road test on my first try today, and I'm telling y'all, if someone as anxious to start the process as me can do it - so can you with Ion's help! He is super helpful and so good at what he does, you can tell he truly cares and wants to see you thrive in his own style. He's not going to give up on you till you do get it, if you don't give up on yourself. I am also a pretty sensitive person when it comes to getting over-stimulated when I'm in busy, novel situations, and hence I was pretty on edge from the get go with driving - he has now gotten me to a point where I feel confident enough to drive on my own and feel confident that I know my left-turns, parallel parking, right turns, steering, right-of-way, and speed control. If you're thinking about it, this is your sign! Book that lesson (but book it with him, I've been to different instructors in the past and it's not always helpful lol). Thank you, Ion :)

Fantastic experience: Thank you so much Ion! Ion was quick to correct my bad driving habits, identify my weak and perfect everything I was doing right. The easiest way to pass is to adapt into a driver mindset instead of someone who’s just trying to pass and Ion got me there really quickly. Fantastic experience: Ion is a highly skilled driving instructor with a great sense of humor. All of our lessons were conducted in a positive and enjoyable atmosphere. He thoroughly explains the intricacies of driving in BC and is quick to identify any mistakes made during the lessons. I opted for a package that included 2 lessons and the use of a car for the road test. After just 2 lessons, I felt much more confident and was able to pass the road test on my first attempt. Ion’s advice is invaluable, not just for passing the test, but also for everyday driving. Each lesson was scheduled to last for 1 hour and 30 minutes, but Ion generously spent even more time with me. Fantastic experience: Passed my N-test (Class 7) on the first try with the help of Ion! I am an extremely panick-y and nervous driver, and taking classes with Ion helped me to become a more calm and confident driver. If needed, he will start you off slow so you can fully understand the space of the car, the blind spots, and how the car works - I feel like this really helped my nerves and the understanding of the car and its space. He can be tough on you at times (show tough love), but it's all for the best as driving and driver safety is a serious matter.

Ion was patient and spent time going over aspects of my driving that he figured might need improvement. On the day of the test he was very helpful and professional. I got through on my first attempt. Negative experience: My experience with them was just horrible. I booked for a refresher class and a car for my test. I have around 10 years of experience driving in Mexico. Obviously some rules here in Canada are different there than there and it was essential for me to try to learn a bit more about it. However, the instructor was not only racist (calling me Brazilian, he was assuming that they are bad at driving, when he knew my nationality), he was abusive. To explain the limits where the car and the crossing line should be, he was hitting the back of the driver seat. Also, screaming if I took long when changing lanes. He asked me for my previous experience but during the lesson he just assumed that I didn’t know how to drive at all, enforcing his methods on me. There was a point that I had to told him to stop being so aggressive. This cause me to had problems with my confidence at driving and prevent me to take more classes in any other place. Currently I already got my license, I took classes in another school where they treat me with respect and an patience. Where no one complained about my skills and they help me just to fix my issues for the test. If you are looking to learn or improve your skills at driving, look another options because with them you might regret.

Negative experience: Rude. Impatient. Stressful. Instead of explaining to me what I did wrong, the instructor was shouting. On many occasions, he pressed the accelerator unnecessarily. This really put me off my flow. At an intersection which was really confusing he didn’t explain to me upfront what to do. When the light turned red, he just asked me to do something out of no where. He was extremely angry and upset. “Are you listening!! You have to listen! If you don’t listen I can’t teach you! We’ll stop this lesson now! This is it! Find someone else for your test”. - This is exactly how my last instruction ended. I took a cab back home.

Fantastic experience: Ion is a true professional with driving experience from multiple countries. His knowledge of the Point Grey area, where I had my test, is impeccable. He was able to point out all the different pitfalls that cause people to fail. He communicates clearly and is very attentive. I don't think I ever made a mistake without being corrected. Ion takes the time to explain what needs to be done, but also why. This comes both from theoretical and practical point of view. Overall, I would highly recommend Ion's services.

Negative experience: Very poor, rude, unprofessional and demanding attitude from Ion. I never signed up for the class because his general attitude via text was rude, demanding and unprofessional. He requested payment for the classes, via etransfer, before he was able to confirm the time I needed the class at or having talked with him on the phone. BE WARNED - this is NOT common practice from driving schools. Almost all other schools will require payment AFTER the service is provided, or require a deposit via credit card or PayPal. On the last text I received from him he said (and I quote): "I am not available for YOU anymore! (...) good luck and stay safe... DON´T DRIVE" His rude, demanding and short attitude is the last thing a new student needs when learning to stay safe on the road.

Fantastic experience: Ion is a fantastic instructor!! He is “the” instructor. The best you can find. He is absolutely dedicated and focused on you. Teachers that really care about your success are rare to find. Ion is one of the best teachers I’ve ever had. Previously I had failed the road test two times. My previous instructor was driving me on a straight road most of the time and hardly bothered to focus on my weaknesses. Ion focused on my weaknesses and practiced with me time after time in each session and each time telling me what I did wrong. Ion was constantly giving me feedback through the lessons. The 4 lessons that I had with Ion count as 40 if I want to compare him with my previous instructor. I really cannot recommend him more. On top of all, I noticed that his prices are less than what I paid for my other instructor. If you want a very good teacher to support you and guide you to success, try your best to book with Ion, even if he wasn’t available for you I’d say change your schedule and definitely take your lessons with him.
