Fantastic experience: I contacted Alex for driving lessons, but his schedule was full (which speaks highly of him), so he recommended taking lessons with his collaborator, Donald Fung. Donald is a kind and assertive instructor, patient, and fully in control of the situation (the lessons and my test were in my manual transmission car). He knows how to make you feel confident and learn in the process. If it weren’t for his guidance, I wouldn’t have passed my driving test on the first try! I highly recommend SenSen Driving School and Donald (he’s an excellent instructor). Don’t hesitate to take lessons with them before your test—it’s worth every minute! Thank you, Donald!

Fantastic experience: I just had my ICBC road test today and passed on the first try! I’m officially a Class 5 licence driver. Woot woot ☺️ Big thanks to Daniel, my instructor at Sensen Driving School. He was incredibly knowledgeable and guided me through key points to focus on for the actual test, even though we only had one practice session. I really took his advice to heart, and it made all the difference during my road test. Daniel is not only great at what he does, but he's also super friendly and easy to learn from. Fantastic experience: I had my license from another country so I needed to re do my road test in order to be issued a BC license. I was a driver but not a BC driver. On my own- I failed the road test twice. That’s when I decided to hire Alex at SenSen Driving school, he came highly recommended from a friend of mine. he linked me to his time table and I was able to book the days and times that worked for me, weeks in advance. He was a wonderful teacher. Very clear and calmly spoken, encouraging and patient with me. Each lesson we focused on one or two specific things to learn. There was never too much information all at once. He teaches the by-law rules of the road and knows them very well. SenSen driving school helped me develop good legal driving skills and habits. I took 7 lessons with Alex, and when it was time to take my road test I passed on the first try! the lessons gave me the confidence and understanding I needed to be the best driver I could be! Thank you Alex I highly recommend !

Fantastic experience: I took my Class 5 road test at ICBC Point Grey, and Alex was able to take me through the routes that were crucial to my test. He was very clear with his instructions and feedback. He entertained all my questions and passed on information that I utilized. Some of the habits that may not be suitable for the road test were highlighted, and he reiterated key points that made my road test successful on my first attempt. BC is known for its incredibly difficult road tests, and passing them on my first attempt was also made possible by Alex's incredible guidance.

Fantastic experience: Just passed my Class 5 Driving Test thanks to Alex. This was my second attempt, and previously I had used a different driving school teacher. As a result, I went into my lessons with some prior knowledge, but I feel a great deal of certainty when I say that if I had booked lessons with Alex instead of the other instructor, I probably wouldn't have needed two attempts. He's the real deal; not much else to say. He's very knowledgeable and helpful, but also doesn't complicate things too much. He is also very willing to answer questions, even outside of classes.

Fantastic experience: He is firm but fair; his feedback, especially during mocks when you mess up, can cut deep. However, I am truly grateful for this because his thorough preparation made the actual test a walk in the park. Initially, I was nervous and scared about the possibility of having to retake the test, but I passed on the first try. If I could go back to the moment I chose a driving instructor, I would make the same decision without hesitation.

Fantastic experience: I booked my Class 5 road test at Point Grey and started looking for instructors just a few days before the exam. Fortunately, I was able to find Alex Sham, and it turned out to be a stroke of luck. Despite the time crunch, he accommodated my request for 2 lessons and provided me with invaluable guidance in a short span of time. He gave me what felt like a crash course in driving proficiency, ensuring we covered all the essential aspects and even took me to the trickiest parts of the road during our practice sessions. After each lesson, he put in extra time to thoroughly assess my skills, meticulously scoring each maneuver to identify any weaknesses. Because of this I was able to pass my Class 5 road test. Negative experience: Qualities of instructor: -Condescending -Lacked patience -Rude -Made me feel like I was stupid -Zero understanding of neurodivergence and it showed in his teaching method. -Asks rhetorical questions when you make mistakes so you feel like an idiot If you are neurotypical and appreciate an instructor that teaches like a robot (while yelling when you don't do exactly as he says despite being a brand new driver) it may work for you, but the combination of the instructor being condescending and rude was a big nope. Cancelled all my booked lessons and now I am very happy with another driving school—with an instructor that is patient, understanding, and teaches in a way that works for neurodivergent folks.

Fantastic experience: Ok so Alex was fully booked when I first contacted SenSen, but he gave me the contact info for Donald and he is the BEST instructor you’ll ever have! He knows EXACTLY how the test goes so there’s no surprises. You practice everything that will be on the test, exactly how it’s done on the test. He’s calm, clear and concise and I was always comfortable driving with him. I got my N my first try and was super confident going in to my appointment because he really made sure I was ready. I never thought I’d be able to confidently drive and now I love to drive! Thanks again, Donald!

Fantastic experience: Amazing! I went to SenSen because I had struggled with anxiety as a new driver and found it very difficult to even start learning. I had Alex Sham from SenSen as my instructor, and I found him very kind, caring, and thorough. He took the time to listen to my worries and explain things in as much detail as I wanted, including drawing very helpful diagrams. He also taught me careful and safe driving habits, and now I feel quite comfortable on the road. Definite recommendation - I will be sending any other friends that need to learn to drive his way.

Fantastic experience: I had Alex as my instructor and he’s genuinely the best instructor ever. I’ve gone through multiple instructors and they all fail to help me understand what to do clearly.I also tend to get uncomfortable very quickly and back out to ask questions, but Alex was so nice and friendly and was just so amazing at explaining what to do. Fantastic experience: I had a lot of anxiety about learning how to drive. I honestly didn’t believe in myself. I looked at all the people around me who could do it and felt totally at a loss. Why wasn’t everyone as terrified as me? Alex showed me the proper steps to safely navigate the road, and in time, I started to gain confidence. Every time I made a mistake he reminded me that it was a a normal part of learning how to drive. If I got scared or overwhelmed, he took control of the wheel (he has a 2 steering set up so can step in at any time) and this really helped to calm my fears of crashing into everything. Once you have enough experience driving (and by driving I mean driving with all the correct safety protocols like shoulder checks and everything) you start to get used to it and you can actively see that you’re driving better than lots of the people around you. The lessons are strict because ICBC has a very specific driving method that they want new drivers to follow. Some details are so specific that I personally believe that a new driver has no way of passing their test without working with a driving instructor who knows what ICBC is looking for. Alex really hammers in the most important details so that you can perform under pressure during your test. I COULD NOT BELIEVE THAT I PASSED ON MY FIRST TRY! It took me 20 years to gain the courage to do it, but only a few months working with Alex to actually get my N and now I’m driving by myself! I also got to have a couple lessons with Donald who is an ex ICBC examiner so he has a ton of really helpful tips for passing your test. Alex and his team are really awesome and I’m super grateful that I had him to help me through one of life’s milestones. I feel ready to take on new challenges in my life! Happy I went with SENSEN Driving School!

Fantastic experience: Great teaching, Daniel adapts to your level of skill and improve them.

Negative experience: I took lessons with Alex and it was such a negative experience that I switched to Young Drivers BC and had a way better time learning. Alex can be very condescending especially to young women. For beginners, you need to learn how to feel relaxed and in control in order to be confident on the road. Alex makes you the complete opposite - yelling multiple times, startling students while they are driving and making them question their own intelligence. BTW I graduated from an Ivy League so I'm definitely not stupid. At the end of our many lessons he straight up said to me that I'm incapable of learning. When you make a mistake, Alex doesn't take the time to explain. I used to think it was because he was impatient, but now I'm realizing that it is because he literally does not know how to explain the rules of the road - he is only good at telling you what to do. If you want to be a good driver, you need to understand why things are the way they are on the road. However, Alex will not teach you that. He is only laser focused on teaching you how to drive a very specific segment of the street, so if you try to drive outside of that area good luck. He is a very "mechanical" driver so if you want to learn how to drive like a robot geared up for the exam, maybe this is for you. But if you want to adopt an intuitive, smart, and confident driving skillset that is widely applicable to other situations, you better go to Young Drivers or somebody else. For instance, as a new driver, Alex makes you memorize a lot movements, so you find yourself going through the motions rather than understanding WHY you have to make those gestures. You end up focusing so much on not missing any move that you forget to pay attention to the conditions of the road, which is actually dangerous. For a new driver, there are a lot of things to pay attention to, but Alex forces you to drive exactly like he does, rather than help you learn to become an independent driver. He will drain your confidence and destroy your abilities to make good judgments. If you watch his YouTube videos you will see how he has a tendency to blame students for their mistakes in a very nonproductive manner. Teachers should be patient and encouraging instead of snapping at their students at every turn. Driving with Alex was one of the worst paid experiences I've ever had in Vancouver and I would never recommend. By the way, this driving school offers discounts for good reviews so that is most likely why there are so many five stars on google maps. I'd recommend maybe paying for just 1 lesson and not a whole package right off the bat to see for yourself. Honestly, he only cares about money so he has overbooked way too many students for their actual capacity which might explain his bad attitude.

Fantastic experience: After many lessons with Alex, I was able to pass my road test. Despite my slow learning at times, he was very patient and unwilling to give up on me, and I appreciate that a lot. He made lessons very engaging & entertaining, we shared many laughs and I learned a lot more than just driving. Thanks for the lessons Alex, will definitely be booking more in the future. Fantastic experience: For 3 years, I was scared to step foot in the driver's seat because of a bad driving lesson in the States. That is until I moved to Vancouver, and started taking lessons with Donald. His professionalism, friendliness, and patience kept me at ease at every drive. Donald teaches driving fundamentals and offers practical tips to become a safe, efficient driver and not just pass the next driving test. I recently rented a car to run errands around town, and the driving anxiety was completely gone! 10/10 would recommend.

Negative experience: The worst experience ever… I was mistakenly impressed by all these 5 star reviews&Youtube videos (whereas he seems to be nice and down to earth). I was very excited to start my driving lessons with Alex, confident I was in good hands. I didn’t expect that it would have turned out this way… The instructor is very rude, lacking patience and gets irritated easily. I was in a complete shock when he pulled over and asked me if I had any difficulties learning at school and also added “Have you ever taught anyone before? Do you realize that I am teaching someone who is not learning?” I got 98% out of 100% on my knowledge test at the first attempt and had difficulties putting my theoretical knowledge into practice. His communication in a derogative manner made me feel very uncomfortable and nervous. Not sure if it was personal or in general. It was terrible, just horrible. A person with such demeanor shouldn’t be teaching anything at all, let alone driving. I was paying for a service from an instructor who would guide and coach me but not belittle or bring me down and ruin my confidence. Glad I haven’t invested any more time and money into this. I checked reviews on Yelp and found a couple of comments from females who encountered similar experience a while ago. I didn’t even want to drive at all at first but only until I relocated to Victoria and found a great instructor here. The difference is night and day, heaven and hell. He is encouraging when I am doing the right thing and remains calm when I make a mistake, and he is helping me to rebuild my ruined confidence and become a safe and competent driver, I have made a lot of progress since then. Based on my experience I would not recommend this school and this instructor from hell especially if you are a female taking your first steps into practicing driving. I am sure he wouldn’t be talking to a male this way.

Fantastic experience: Donald Fung was a great driving instructor! He was always on time for lessons, gave great tips and demonstrations of driving maneuvers, and helped give me a good sense of what the driving test would be like before I attempted it.

Alex is an incredible driver instructor that will support you anytime and he is straight to the driving lessons and he will prepare you what ICBC needs in a new driver. Fantastic experience: Would definitely recommend Alex ! He helped me practice for my Road Test class 5 and I passed on my first attempt. He is very kind and patient, picks you up home and takes you to practice where you would like to take your road test so you're familiar with the area and you can feel more confident the day of your test. He's a great instructor and teacher and his videos are amazing as well! They helped me tons before his classes and of course the actual day of the test. Fantastic experience: Thank you Alex. For the past two years each lesson has been great; they were fun and meaningful where I was able to learn many new driving skills and techniques. Your guidance and teachings helped me to pass my class 7 driving test on my first attempt! EDIT (1/10/24): had my class 5 full test today, and a 1.5 hour cram session right before with Alex Sham and still passed no mistakes, with only one lesson. Lesson included everything on the test and more. Alex’s tips and techniques made everything so simple, got it down after one demonstration. Fantastic experience: A huge shoutout to Daniel for being an invaluable instructor! I took several classes with him before my class 5 road test and I passed on my first attempt! He was patient, accommodating, punctual and overall an amazing teacher. I would recommend anyone in the Vancouver/Burnaby area to take lessons with him. Daniel taught me invaluable tips and tricks to feel comfortable as a driver in the city. Also the YouTube videos that Alex makes were really helpful to get an idea of the exam routes! Fantastic experience: I am so glad that I had the opportunity to learn from the best and safest driver Alex at Sen Sen driving school, that helped me pass my class 5 test on the first go with praise from the examiner. No matter how many shoulder checks I have managed to forget Alex never failed to stay patient and have a good sense of humour. I highly recommend taking lessons from Sen Sen driving school as they are highly reliable when it comes to being punctual and organized with their schedule offering as many hours needed to help you pass your road test. If I had any questions out of my driving lessons they could be answered by the well-filmed videos on their YouTube channel @SenSenDrivingSchool which had helped me a lot when practising on my own.

Alex very kindly made time in his busy schedule for my son, provided him with great training, and has a channel of excellent YouTube videos that supported the in-person learning. Fantastic experience: TL;DR A dedicated and fun teacher who will walk you through everything you need to get your license. He is: • friendly • punctual • caring • professional I was fortunate to have found Alex -- he is the ONLY reason I was able to pass my road test. I had taken my ICBC Road Test once, but I failed and for many years since then, I have been in the perpetual cycle of re-acquiring my Class 7 Learner's Permit. I never really recovered from flunking my road test, but Alex assured me that we could make it happen. RESULT: I passed! He somehow managed to provide me with the confidence and competence to pass and get my "N" (Class 7) He is a miracle worker. I cannot thank him enough, he is an amazing teacher and if you are a committed student, he will get you where you need to go. Happy driving and thank you, Alex -- you are the best!

Fantastic experience: Absolutely I recommend him, it was a challenge for both because my driving permit was almost expiring, so I my husband send me the link of his website, I read all the comments and I said to myself “why not?” So I contact Alex and he accept the challenge and 3 weeks later I’m here happy with my test approved, he is an excellent teacher, is strict but explain you any minimum detail or questions that you have, you feel so safe and secure when you are driving with him, absolutely I recommend him, you are not going to waste your time or money with him, thank you Alex for all your work, advice and patience. Súper recomendable, para no Hacer el cuento largo mi permiso de licencia (papel amarillo) estaba por expirar, por lo que considere tomar lecciones de manejo, mi esposo me mando el link de su website, empecé a leer los comentarios y dije, bueno por que no? Y listo le comenté la situación y empezamos inmediatamente las clases, puedo decirles que en 3 semanas quede mas que lista para el examen de manejo, el maestro me hizo sentir, súper segura, confiada de lo que estaba haciendo, el carro está adaptado para que aprendas a manejar, Alex me inspiró mucha confianza, es estricto, pero valió la pena, al día de hoy estoy feliz con mi resultado!! I never thought that I would pass my road test on my first attempt because it was in Richmond (known for having the highest failure rate). Biggest thanks to Daniel and Alex for helping me get my N on first try with praise from the examiner! Due to tricky timing, I had taken lessons from both instructors. The majority of my lessons were with Daniel who helped me correct previously-formed bad habits and taught me new tips for driving/parking well, while I had refresher lessons with Alex who took me to my road test and talked me through my nerves. Both instructors are very patient, funny, and knowledgeable. Also, bless Alex's Youtube videos. 5 stars !!
