Negative experience: Unprofessional service. Won’t allow students who are transferring from back home license to Canada license do an evening driving lesson. And won’t give a reason why. Student wants to pay for 10 lessons for driving but student has to pay in advance and the availability is months ahead. Meaning instructor will take your money and your availability to depend on his availability for the 10 driving lessons which doesn’t make sense to me at all. Why not just pay per lesson for the 10 lessons ? Cause students can’t pay the whole thing in advance and the availability is determined on the instructor. In conclusion just poor poor service from this Driving school won’t recommend it a single bit. The only good thing about it is the prices Cheapest in town doesn’t mean good services sadly

Negative experience: If it was possible to give a half star, that’s exactly what I would have given. This is the most condescending and rude teacher I’ve ever experienced, I left my last class with him in tears. He told me that he had zero confidence in my driving skills. He was not even great at actually giving clear instructions or information on what you need to do. Just tried to keep upselling his extra classes, was not patient in any way. I understand I may have made certain mistakes (as anyone PAYING FOR DRIVING CLASSES WOULD) but I believe as a driving instructor communicating with compassion and respect should be a key part of the profession and I received neither from him. I left with heightened anxiety about my skills and ability as a result, I would never recommend.

Fantastic experience: Before I started my lessons, I don't think there were many people that thought I was going to pass, including myself. In fact, some were wondering if they were going to take my license away because of how bad my driving was. Two lessons with Robin later, I passed my class 5 road test! What an amazing instructor!

Fantastic experience: I'm not exaggerating when I say I learned more in the 5 hours I spent with Robin than the 60+ hours I've put on the road with other supervisors. This isn't because the other supervisors are bad drivers -- in fact, some have never even had a minor dent in their 40+ years of driving. But rather, it's because Robin's an excellent teacher. I would like to share my amazing journey with Roadsmart. This review might save you time and money on online research and lot's of phone inquiries. In my home country, I occasionally drove to my office, but I had absolutely no experience driving on Canadian roads. I struggle with anxiety and tend to make mistakes when someone is closely observing me. Impressively, Robin helped me overcome this challenge with his own strategies. He intelligently helped me un-learn some of my previous driving habits. I took a total of 15 lessons with Robin, and each one was intensive. When I decided to join a driving school, I did extensive research, read countless Google reviews, and spoke to various driving schools in Kamloops. Driving lessons are expensive, and I am a Questioner personality type, so I wanted to make an informed decision. An elder in my community recommended Roadsmart, and I joined. My lessons were intensive, rigorous, personalized, and feedback-driven. Sometimes, Robin assigned homework on safety topics. After my 10th lesson, Robin suggested postponing my road test to address my mistakes, which we did in subsequent classes. Robin uses stick-and-carrot method, to teach driving and this method really helps us learn the things really quickly. Initially, it took me some time to adjust, but from my second class onward, I followed his instructions diligently. He reminded me of my strict grade 7 math teacher, whose techniques helped me succeed in many competitive exams even after my school. Robin is exceptionally talented and intelligent than he looks. Once, he said, “If you don’t read about hazards today, don’t come for tomorrow’s class.” Scared, I read the entire ‘Tuning Up for Drivers’ book that day . He adjusted his teaching to match my learning style. To speedup my learning curve, Robin suggested me to do a daily mental rehearsals before sleep, which I did. I used to imagine me driving a car, following all road rules he taught me in the class, before i go to bed. He was always active and alert during the class. Once, in my initial days, under pressure, I accidentally hard-pressed the accelerator instead of the brake while reversing on an elevated parking lot. Robin quickly took over and stopped the car in less than a second, preventing a potential severe accident. Robin kindly adjusted his schedule around my road test date, scheduling all classes as per my availability and convenience. Also I feel his classes are much more affordable than other schools in the town. At times I felt he was harsh but later realized he really cared about me learning the things. Just in my second class I decided to submit myself completely to him and followed whatever he teaches bcoz he has been in this profession for years. He might have handled hundreds of students like me so he knows the in and out of this profession. It's not easy to get teachers like him these days. As my test date was approaching, he became a complete new person and focused more in boosting my confidence. He made sure i keep doing the right things i always do and tried to correct my regular mistakes. He gives scoring on each parameter after every class. That is one of the awesome things he do. I definitely feel it's totally worth paying for a professional teacher like Robin. Irrespective of my road test results, my review on him would still be the same. The warm-up class on the test day was phenomenal. That morning, he reminded me of the documents I needed for the test and was strict when I was two minutes late to the warm-up class. Seeing me nervous before the test, he made me do breathing exercises and told me to pray to calm me down. Just before the road test he said, “Gopi, you know we can’t afford to fail today, right?” Only a true teacher invested in their students’ success would say such a thing. Thank you for everything guruji Robin. I will forever remember your teachings.

Negative experience: Canada is a country with many immigrants. In this country, no one is allowed to judge others. You, who are a teacher and do educational work, should pay more attention to this issue and if it is difficult for you to communicate with everyone, put admission conditions on your website. Friends who have just arrived in Canada, Robin despises you because of your low speaking skills and devotes only half an hour to training out of a one-hour class. He is not a moral teacher at all.

Fantastic experience: I moved to Kamloops from Europe about 6 months ago, but I could not just transfer my driver's license, I had to take the test. Although I've been driving in Europe for more than 20 years and passed the knowledge test on the first attempt, I failed the first attempt of the road test. Driving and driving rules are a bit different in Canada than they are in Europe, and you should definitely take some driving lessons to adjust to new environment and new rules before taking a road test. It is not just about passing a test - it's a reasonable thing to do when you move to a completely new and different environment. Anyhow, after failing my first test, I got in touch and booked a couple of lessons with Road Smart and it has been a great experience. Besides having everything explained to me that was unclear about driving in Canada, it was a nice refresher on safe driving. After just 4 lessons I was already readjusted to Canadian driving and passed the road test. So, if you have just moved to Kamloops and Canada, and if you are looking to get a driver's license, do yourself a favor - book 5 lessons with the Road Smart and save yourself a lot of time and stress. It's not too expensive and it's definitely worth the money. I haven't experienced a Canadian winter driving yet, so I will probably be back and take some lessons next winter too.

Negative experience: I had lessons with Robin year ago, and unfortunately I was disappointed with the experience. Though it is late for doing the review after a while, i just wrote this to clear the people who are about to choose this school. Robin frequently made disparaging comments, suggesting that the other road users viewed me as incompetent, this undermined my confidemce and made the learning experience unpleasant. I was disappointed with the lack of variety in lesson locations, Robin primarily took me to the residential areas which limited my exposure to different road conditions and traffic situations. Robin did not allocate sufficient time for the left turn that I felt ill-prepared when it came to executing this maneuver on the road. There was also an instance where I arrived for my lesson, I found out the lesson had been canceled as the car was in the repair shop. Though Robin offered me an extra lesson to make up for it, I think clearer communication about scheduling changes would be helpful to avoid such a situation in the future.
