Negative experience: My son almost completed an online BDE course that included 20 hours of classes and 10 hours of driving lessons. Typically, students practice in two main areas: Walkley and Canotek. However, my son did 10 hours of actual driving lessons, and they neglected to teach him about a critical aspect of the exam location in Walkley, where he needed to stop at the median. This was one of the most important lessons for him to learn. Additionally, I was informed that it usually takes 40 hours of lessons for a student to be adequately prepared to drive. Seriously? So you want another 30 hours of driving instructions from you and yet you can’t even teach the basics.

Fantastic experience: I'm in my 40s and had never held a license before. I had previously had a horrible experience with another well known school for 2 lessons and was nervous for a new instructor. I contacted Ottawa Driving School and they assigned me to Zahir. Zahir was just what I needed. He was prompt, polite, no-nonsense, and pushed me where needed. He could see I was nervous, so on our first lesson, he made me book my test for one month time. If left to my own devices I probably still would not have booked the test months later. We did several two hour lessons (probably totalling 14 hours) and I passed first time, with two very minor errors. For me this was unbelievable as I started off so nervous. Zahir relentlessly focused on taking me through the routes, rules and what I needed to improve my confidence and understanding of driving. He didn't give me empty pep talks, or unrealistic expectations. He taught me to drive for the test, and how to pass. I'm now able to drive as I need and it has improved my life significantly in Ottawa. I'll likely be requesting lessons from Zahir again when it is time for my full G test.

Negative experience: I had a 6 hour driving lesson with Zahir, I’m a new driver and his method of teaching was horrible. He was extremely rude and impatient and he didn’t teach me anything properly. He would take 15 min smoke break and leave me off 15 mins early, so every 2 hours lesson was essentially only 1.5 hr lesson. When I asked him any questions about driving he would ask me to open youtube and look there, he would also say things like I would never pass the test or be a good driver for no reason at all, he was extremely extremely rude. I took lessons with another driving school and the driving instructor was so nice, I passed my G2 in first attempt only because of him. Driving experience with Zahir was really bad. I usually never put reviews and I’m only doing it so that people don’t make the same mistake I did, I strongly recommend changing schools than taking driving lessons from him.

Fantastic experience: Just finished up my G drivers with Ottawa Driving School and my instructor Rimun. He was very insightful and helpfully and made the experience stress free.

Fantastic experience: I was grateful to have Rimun as an instructor. He’s very thorough and clear with what he's trying to teach you. Rimun will let you know the “more important” things you need to focus on prior to the test as well as what your strengths and weaknesses are. If you’re able to request an instructor he’s the guy.

Fantastic experience: I had great experience with the online BDE course. The whole process is online as the driving school is very responsive, they answered all of my questions via emails promptly. They certified me just after 1 day I completed all of my lessons. I took the in-car lessons with Mohammad, he was patient and focused during the lessons. The techniques he taught me are easy to apply. I have no driving experience before but I feel confident just after 10 hours. I havent taken my G2 road test yet but will update when I finish. Recommended instructor and driving school. Updated: passed at first attempt, though made some mistakes

Fantastic experience: I would like to express my sincere gratitute to Mohammed, the driving instructor who had me prepared for my G full test. I successfully passed the test on August 20, 2024. Mohammed is a very experienced, patient and caring instructor who wants to give his best to the student. He shares all his knowlegde and specifically highlights the most important safety/road rules while driving, so that you can never forget them and they stay with you forever as a good habbit and set of safety driving rules. I am very happy that he was my instructor. If it was not for him, I would not passed my test. I thank the school and Mohammed for the cooperation.

Negative experience: The instructor seemed quite racist, made insensitive comments about my ethnicity and told me I wouldn’t pass but I silently rebuked her words in Jesus name! She nagged instructions at me but I remained calm and tuned out the noise but only took note of the instructions. I have over 6 years of driving experience outside Canada, made my first attempt at the G2 and PASSED. I will never recommend such a company to anyone I know. Y’all need to train your drivers on emotional intelligence.

Negative experience: I took the online BDE course with this school. I learned a lot from the online courses/lessons, but you can learn all that from watching youtube videos and reading materials. Overall, I will not be recommending this school especially if you don't have access to a family or friend's car to practice on your own. NEGATIVE OBSERVATIONS: 1. They charged me $60 + tax for 'no show' penalty. I texted my in-car instructor 2 days before to confirm our appointment, she did not respond so I slept in. She waited for 15 minutes then informed me of the penalty and left. I requested for a new instructor because of this. The new instructor was late 60% of the time - one time, he was even late for 43 MINUTES! I wish I asked for my 60$ back! 2. My 2nd instructor was falling asleep in the passenger seat. I am confident with my driving even as a beginner so it was not a big deal for me (I took it as a compliment that he was so relaxed with me behind the wheel!) - but this can be horrible for someone else! 3. Parallel parking method I was taught cannot be used when you're street parking with cars on your front and back. Also, there is no 'one size fits all' method to parallel parking; so it would be better if they teach the concepts and variables in play instead of a 'formula' - size of your car, distance to the parking space, when are you 45 degrees angle vs the curb... SOME PROS: 1. My 2nd instructor was gentle and pointed out errors and areas of improvement in a calm manner 2. As I said, I really appreciated the online courses - informative and helpful! I took my G2 exam in the Walkley DriveTest Center. Here are my tips/reminders: - Watch youtube videos to know the test routes (examiner will ask you to drive in Fairlea Crescent, Baycrest and Cedarwood Drive) - Actually go to the area and drive several times to familiarize yourself with the area - take note of all-way stops, sharp curves, signal lights - You will be asked to do a 3-point turn, parallel park and roadside stop with hill parking - so make sure you know which way to turn your wheels depending if it's uphill or downhill. - Always do a shoulder check when changing lanes and turning left/right - Do a proper stop on stop signs! Full stop for 1-2 seconds and don't ever do a rolling stop! - To turn right on a red light, make sure to do a full stop first. - There's a school in the area, so pay attention to school buses and their signals - Speed limit in the area is 40 kph (50 kph in Walkley). Don't drive too slow or too fast!

However, Instructor Fahim was still able to guide me appropriately with the customs and rules of thumb for Canadian roadways. I decided to use an instructor so I went to Ottawa Driving School Walkley. I was given Fahim as my driving instructor. Fantastic experience: I did my in class lesions with Jack and had such a great experience. He was very calm, he didn’t raise his voice or react badly when I made a mistake. Bc he was so calm it made me feel much more confident, especially if I made a small mistake. After my course ended he even let me call and ask questions for my G2!! I passed and I would not have been able to without my driving course and Jack as a instructor! Negative experience: Your experience will depend on your driver. The driver I had s******* harassed me, asked me out multiple times even though I always said no in a very uncomfortable way, asked if I want a husband and very personal questions, came 10 min late and ended the lesson 10 minutes early every time, barely actually taught me, yelled at me once for saying his technique wasn’t helping me, and more. I knew how to drive from before so I just needed a refresher. If I was a new driver, it would have been so much worse. I saw other reviews with the same comments, so I don’t think this driving school takes the customers reviews seriously. For the $400 dollars I paid for the lessons, I couldn’t be more disappointed. Edit: in response to their reply, the other instructors were fully booked and my test was coming up in a few weeks. But that shouldn’t matter. I shouldn’t have to be put in a position to request a different instructor at all. Get your instructors in line!! I will not be contacting this driving school further nor will I be removing this review.

Fantastic experience: Recently I successfully completed my G2 driving exam. I would highly recommend Ottawa driving school for driving lessons. I would also like to appreciate my instructor Majed for lessons. He is phenomenal instructor, always been calm throughout sessions. Never used his mobile during session and was focused on driving lessons. He was pretty quick to understand my weakness and we worked on improving them.

Fantastic experience: I have had a very pleasant experience of learning the practical driving practice sessions with Mr. Fahim. I have newly moved to Canada from Bangladesh and the left-handed driving is completely new to me. The road signs and rules/regulations of Ontario province is also new to me. Though I had previous experience of driving, it was not be possible for me to grasp the new techniques and rules of driving here without Fahim bhai's guidance and support. I found him very patience and friendly attitude while teaching me. Moreover, his knowledge is very precise and he knows how to teach hard things in a simple easy way. Not professionally, but also I found him a very cordial, sincere and helping as a person. For his inspiration, guidance and continuous support to me, recently I have been able to pass my G2 driving test. I wish him every success in his personal and professional life.

Negative experience: Posting this review on behalf of my wife as I bought the lesson her behalf. She drove with Aswan and things did not get off to a good start. First, when she got in the car the instructor said she needed to pay, when she told her that she already paid by e-transfer the instructor said "why did you do that?! - then you have to pay taxes!", first sign something strange is going on. Second while driving, the instructor was very abrupt and not patient. Third, she was answering phone calls and speaking on the phone during a lesson. When you are paying an hour of someone's time, you should get their undivided attention, they can look at missed calls once the lesson is over. Lastly, she had music on which my wife found distracting, admittedly she could have asked to turn it off but as a new driver she was not sure what was normal with driving schools. I just called the school to provide my feedback and was only offered that going forward a new instructor would be assigned. I'm not asking for a full refund, but I offered to buy more classes and believe that either a discount for future packages, or a refund or partial refund of this first class should be provided. That said, we'll find another driving school.

Negative experience: This message is from someone behalf who took the drive lessons . Very poor services and instructor him self needs a training. He was also dishonesty, gave lesson of 1.5 hours and took the money for 2 hours by telling a lie. Driver was new and he started scream when new driver did any mistake. Every time the new driver have to call him to get the schedule. Never ever, we will recommend Ottawa driving school to any one. If someone wants to waste time and money then hire Ottawa driving school.

Fantastic experience: I felt too confident about my driving that I went to Full G test on my first attempt without a driving lesson, unfortunately I failed. I took a 2 hours refreshing lesson with Althea and I passed the full G test on the first attempt after the lesson. I recommend this school.

Fantastic experience: I passed G2 at the first attempt. Many thanks to Ray! He is professional, funny and patience. He helped me relieved my anxious of driving also taught me a many useful skills. Ray also have very solid knowledge of vehicles, traffic and driving. I contacted him and I had my real first driving lesson with Shahed and he provided me with the best teaching and knowledge skills/experience. I felt comfortable, relaxedness, very good about driving the car on the road. I wish I can give Shahed a 10 stars out of 5. He knows about teaching and I am so happy to have him for my driving lessons. Please give Shahed a reward or something because he is the best instructor ever. Positive experience: Classroom was great, but communication with the office and instructors has left a lot to be desired. Been struggling to get an instructor for the 10 hours of in car training. Ghosted by instructors just to be told they don't want to work on the weekends after days of trying to get a response. I'm getting very disappointed. I just have to pray they'll honor what I paid for.

Fantastic experience: I passed my G2 Road Test on my First Try thanks to Majed and Ottawa Driving School! I took the online BDE express course with 10-hours of in-car instruction, and also purchased a road test car rental package. When signing up, Ottawa Driving School was quick to respond and provided me with all the information to my questions. As well, because I took the Express course delivery, I was able to complete 10-hours of in-car instruction within 2-weeks (extremely helpful with a time-sensitive date of test). I highly recommend Majed as an Instructor for both beginner and anxious drivers. Majed was always on time, flexible with my work schedule, patient and extremely knowledgeable as an Instructor. What I found sets Majed apart is his ability to break down techniques and concepts, which ensures understanding and comfortability with all manoeuvres no matter how 'basic' they may seem. Because of this approach, a relationship of trust between student and instructor is formed. This is extremely valuable, and not the same experience i've seen from some of my peers who've learned through other driving schools.

Fantastic experience: I took driving lessons and rented a car for my G test with Amin. I was nervous about being able to pass the test but he was very helpful in pointing out what I did well, and what I needed to improve on. He showed me both routes that the G test could be taken on and thanks to his help, I was able to pass and get my G license.

Positive experience: I passed my G2 road test on my first attempt, thanks to Althea! She improved my driving skill by alot. Very detail explanations about everything. She would ask me to repeat everything until I master it. She has a small car, so parking was easy. The reason why i gave 4 stars is because in the beginning they assigned me to Zahir which has longer car, despite that I have requested a small car! His way of teaching made me felt uncomfortable, so I'm glad i changed after wasting 3h with him.

Fantastic experience: I took my driving lessons with Aswan, and it was my first driving experience. With just 10 hours of driving lessons and no personal practice, I was able to pass my G2 test on my first try. Aswan is caring, very punctual, and wants you to succeed. I highly recommend!

Positive experience: Everyone's experiences differ based on the driving instructor they are given, so take these reviews with a grain of salt since one man's trash is another man's treasure. As someone who has literally never driven a car before, not even any practice with my family, and suffering with anxiety about driving on the road, this was certainly something. I had a pretty bad experience with Aswan personally as I found her to be way too mean and I was being yelled at far more than getting taught (she knew I was a completely new driver with zero form of experience and anxiety about being on the road), and in the end she just amplified my fear of driving. I practiced for 1 hour with her, and afterwards made the judgement that I am not comfortable with her. She's clearly impatient and lacks respect for those who are completely new. The driving school did respect my wishes and switched my instructor to Mahmoud, which I had a great time learning with. He was extremely patient with me during my lessons, and taught me greatly about driving (without ever yelling or disrespecting me). If you are in the Kanata area, I highly recommend taking him as your instructor, especially if you are a completely new driver with zero car experience!

Fantastic experience: I had the chance to take driving lessons with Majed to prepare for my G2, I really thought I knew everything before starting but Majed proved me wrong. I am 100% a better driver after taking these lessons and would definitely recommend him over and over to friends and family. He is kind, professional and an overall great instructor.

She is a kind and professional teacher, was always punctual for our lessons, and has a very positive and friendly demeanor. She teaches you all of the maneuvers and shares really good tips. She is patient and helps instill confidence with new/nervous drivers while making sure to teach you to be a safe driver on the road. Fantastic experience: I had a good time learning how to drive with Jack and then later on Zhargon. These two instructors were patient and knew how to relay driving instructions to me as a beginner. I recommend them both, especially Zhargon as he helped me pass my G2 with just one attempt, and the driving school.

Negative experience: Watched the instructor driving 90 in the 60 zone then at the next set of lights, he got impatient, turned right did a uturn and pulled right to get around a red light on Riverside Dr this morning. This instructor with a license plate of CPNX126 Blue Toyota Carolla is supposed to be teaching young drivers the rules? Although the company is stating below that none of their instructors drive a Blue Toyota Corolla, I took pictures of the vehicle with the sign on the roof.

Fantastic experience: My driving instructor was Zarghon. He was punctual for the lessons and corrected all my mistakes. He never allowed me as a student to feel dumb or anything of that sort. He encouraged me to keep practicing and not give up when I was struggling with a driving concept. If he ever had to cancel for some reason he always communicated it well and timely, and also always made up for it by compromising his schedule to fit me in so I can receive the training I needed. The experience felt so stress free and liberating knowing that I have an instructor that cares and wants to see each student succeed. Zarghon knew the laws of the road very well and informed me of them clearly. My test in very soon and I've never felt so prepared. Thank you again so much, for being a safe and educational driving school.

Fantastic experience: Had an excellent experience and a successful G road test in first attempt, all thanks to amazing instructor Althea. I took the road test preparation and car rental package on an urgent notice and the team assisted me really well and assigned one of their best instructors (Althea). The guidance was on point and did not only help me pass the road test but also I felt that my driving has actually improved alot.

Fantastic experience: I had a wonderful experience with my instructor Jack Abou-Charkra, He was very patient and good at instructing. He knows the rules of the road very well and he is also good at helping someone get comfortable behind the wheel.

Positive experience: Your experience with this business will mostly depend on the instructor you are assigned. Read through the reviews, identify and demand one of the highly recommended instructors. I was assigned Aswan the first time, and I had the most horrible driving experience. I mentioned this to the school in an email and was assigned Fokrul Mohamed, who was just amazing. He was calm, patient, and most importantly, reinforced my good driving habits and gently brought out where there was scope for improvement. I will highly recommend Fokrul Mohamed for his calm personality, especially for experienced adult learners such as newcomers to Canada. 5 stars for Mohamed, but rating this school a 3 star for assigning me a horrible instructor the first time, inspite of complaints against her as seen in other reviews.

Fantastic experience: I have used Ottawa Driving school for both of my daughters. The convenient location of the Kanata classroom and the online classes worked well for both girls. The registration was quick and easy. 'Jack' has been an amazing instructor. He was always kind, courteous and accommodating when arranging the lessons. He was a great in-car instructor and helped the girls get the confidence they needed to become responsible drivers. I would highly recommend booking him when it's also time for the in-car driver's test. Why? The kids can use the same car they were trained in, and it was stress-free the day of the test because he was there to explain the process so there was less anxiety about taking the test. Thanks very much Jack and the Ottawa driving school!

Fantastic experience: My instructor Almustafa definitely helped me become a more confident driver, with plenty of useful tips and instructions for driving that helped me pass my G2 test on the first try.

Negative experience: I had a horrible experience yesterday while taking driving lessons from one of your instructors, Aswan. Although I clearly mentioned I am a beginner, she yelled at me on several occasions. I mentioned to her during driving that I was feeling nervous; despite that, she screamed at me when I made a mistake. Behind the wheel is already a situation under pressure and with Aswan being so rude, it affected me mentally resulting in lack of confidence and fear. She is not fit to be an instructor with that temper and a complete lack of patience with novices. How can an instructor expect the student to not make mistakes? I will suggest to stay away. I lost my driving confidence because of this.

Negative experience: I have worked with two drivers from this school. Both times I mentioned that I have anxiety and need a more calm instructor. Both times they referred me to intense, high strung instructors who were not compatible with my needs. I would STRONGLY recommend not going to this school if you have anxiety.

My test was at Walkey too so i super stressed about the rumours about instructors being strict. But the intructor Jack Abo-Chakra, made my practice sessions so valuable I passed on the first go! Fantastic experience: J’ai passé mon examen de conduite le 15 décembre 2020 à 8:30 du matin au centre Canotek et j’ai réussi mon G2 avec un seul Essai. Je suis vraiment contente car Jacques étais mon instructeur , j’ai pris 4h de cours avec Jacques , il m’a aidé à bien prendre confiance en moi, il a débloqué mon stress et m’as bien expliqué comment faire le parking parallèle, le reverse parking , le 3point turn. Jacques est un bon instructeur, je le recommande vivement de le booker car il est très communicatif et vous apprend vraiment les petits astuces pour passer son G2 . Je suis vraiment satisfaite de mon expérience avec Ottawa driving school inc. I took my driving test on December 15, 2020 at 8:30 am at the Canotek center and passed my G2 with just one test. I'm really happy because Jacques was my instructor, I took 4 hours of lessons with Jacques, he helped me gain self-confidence, he released my stress and explained to me how to parallel parking, the reverse parking, the 3point turn. Jacques is a good instructor, I highly recommend to book him because he is very communicative and really teaches you the little tips to pass his G2. Negative experience: This driving school was very unprofessional. First I was assigned an instructor who was outside of my area and had to request another one. Then when I received an instructor, I was asked to reschedule lessons multiple times. The instructor also took a phone call during one of the lessons and his directions were often confusing and sometimes incorrect. The staff who coordinated payments with me were friendly and efficient, but the rest of my experience was mostly awful.

Fantastic experience: I had the immense pleasure of having Jack as my driving instructor. He made the very nervous driver that I am feel very comfortable and relaxed. During our lessons, he would make jokes and tell me funny stories to lighten up the mood and cure me of my anxiety. He quickly identified my needs and tailored the lessons to me so I could improve my driving and parking skills. In fact, he was so invested in my driving education that, one day, even though he had a family emergency, he still made time for me. I will never forget that. If you are looking for an experienced driving instructor to prepare you for your drive test, Ottawa Driving School is the place to go. Thanks to Jack, I was able to pass my G exam the first time.
