Negative experience: This is an honest review (Note: This is a review AFTER a series of 8 lessons, and After the full service is rendered. This note will make sense as you read ahead.) I would like to start off by saying the driving instructor (Max) after lesson 1, and having paid for a series of 9 lessons, pressured me into giving him a 5 star review. At first I thought that was strange but to his credit, my first lesson with him was good and he was very polite and patient. I was hopeful that the following lessons will be pleasant and will find his teaching style good and I figured I’d make an exception on this occasion, and boy was I sadly mistaken. After my trial lesson, he recommended I book the 9 lessons package to start. This driving school mislead me into thinking that they covered the Vancouver area (as per the website) especially after my 3rd lesson when I told Max that I booked a test at the Point Grey ICBC (which is where I’ll be doing most of my commutes in the future) and he had no issue with that at first, and said he will conduct his lessons there a few lessons closer to my road test date. Unfortunately that was not the case. In my experience, he tends to focus mainly on the Burnaby Area (perhaps even North Vancouver according to him, that is assuming that he is truthful). Additionally to my knowledge, most driving schools offer a “Home” pickup service, however he insisted we meet at my closest Sky train station (29th Avenue). I did not have an issue with that at first, as it’s close by, then he began to take advantage of my flexibility to travel and asked to meet outside Vancouver (and these are usually last minute requests e.g the night before to about 1 hour before the lesson) at Gilmore Station, Rupert Station, Renfrew station and even Brentwood Station, which is where I drew the line as it’s too far out. The website says that the driving school offers and I quote “flexible scheduling: we offer convenient scheduling options for your busy lifestyle” what they REALLY mean is that YOU (the customer), must be flexible to meet up anywhere Max says you should meet him. Do with that information what you will, but that is misleading to me. Throughout my series of lessons I always made it a point to remind Max that my test will be at Point Grey ICBC and he didnt object at all, not even once, so I thought it was okay. It was only till we got to lesson 8 of 9 that he told me to cancel my road test appointment at Point Grey ICBC, and book at Burnaby instead, as that it where he conducted most of my lessons. Now bear in mind, I intended to book an additional 4 lessons with him for more practice only IF I was happy with the first 9 lesson series. After lesson 8, I felt like I have been gaslit into thinking that my choice of Point Grey was bad, he wasn’t honest from the beginning, and he could have told me from my 3rd lesson that he had zero intention of taking me to the Point Grey area. If he informed me from the 3rd lesson (when I made it clear that my test is at Point Grey, and every lesson after that) that he has no intention of taking me to point grey, I would have respected him, and moved on to a another driving school that covers the Vancouver Point Grey area… instead he thought it would be a good idea to withhold that vital information till the last minute and essentially lie by omission. I’ve later decided that I will no longer need his service, and I don’t feel comfortable with him being my instructor after he raised his voice at me on my 8th lesson regarding wanting to focus on parallel parking and reverse parking, I nearly cried but I decided to focus on finishing my lesson safely. His advice to focus on my general driving was valid, but he did not have to raise his voice at me at all. Lastly, We pay for the lessons, and the 5 star reviews are contingent upon his FULL service from start to finish of a series of lessons. This review is not in bad faith. He is a decent teacher on the road, but be clear and honest from the beginning and change the wording on your website. Got refunded for lesson 9, which is good.

Fantastic experience: My first class was very good. Max is a good instructor and he taught me almost everything I needed to know for the test in just one class.

Fantastic experience: It was very helpful to be reminded vigilantly of each thing I had to be aware of. I only took two lessons but I knew where I stood for the test. I was given an overview of all the verbal questions which would be asked at the test and a summary of what would be done at the test which helped increase my confidence. Max gives encouragement at the right time and points out where I needed to be mindful of each time I made a mistake.

Negative experience: OMG I took one lesson with Shan and it was the most horrible experience of my life. She asked tons of questions about my personal life. She made tons of rude remarks about my driving. She was very laud and aggressive, she almost broke my shoulder because she wanted to show me how to drive reverse!!!! She didn't let me drive apart from few minutes because she says her car is new and she doesn't want anyone to drive it. She all the time parked the car and talk about irrelevant things just to kill the time so I don't drive. She said if I give her $50 she would get me a road test appointment in Surrey anytime I want!!!! And the strangest thing is that she asked me to write a good review about her driving school on Google!!!!! So right now the only thing I can think about all these 5 star reviews here is that they are fake ones. Because yesterday the driving lesson with Shan was a torture and nightmare, I wanted to get off the car but I was scared she would attack me and hurt me. My shoulder is still hurting, I'll have to take an appointment with my doctor tomorrow and see what damage she has done to my shoulder. I'll take her to the court if anything wrong with my shoulder. I'm so angry and frustrated. She shouldn't be teaching driving. God knows maybe she is not even licensed to teach driving.

Fantastic experience: Max is perfect. He's a great instructor, very patient and friendly, and taking driving lessons with him is like learning from an old friend. After just three lessons, I learned a lot from him and became a better driver, enabling me to pass my Class 5 road test on my first try.
