Positive experience: I got me class 7 and 5 license from this registery My experience from there is pretty mixed , i gave test to Mr akbar and passed in 3rd test He failed me 2 times even i have 15 years of driving experience He said i am not satisfied, in 3rd test I really think that i am not a good driver but fortunately i passed He is bit rude and have some anger problems that must not be in an examiner People can be scared and did some mistake because of hesitation And if we talk about registry it is pretty much full all the time but it is same with other registries So its system issue not the specific registries Even a peron on counter write my DOB wrong in system and because of that they issued me license 2nd day so i have to drive there again With all of this good luck guys

Fantastic experience: I, Nauyan khan,Gave my road test on 28th of October,25. My overall experience with sir Akbar was great. He treated me with respect from the very beginning and from the start of my road test till the end, i dont have a single complain. He deducts points for what mistakes you have done, nothing more nothing less, didn’t distract me for a bit, kept his instructions clear and straight. He is been a very great instructor as it was my first try and i passed and learned from the mistakes i did he gave me an overall review for what i did wrong the most. Glad i booked my first ever road test here. Thanks
Negative experience: Akbar is a poor driving examiner. Started road test late and spoke quietly. This registry continues to send him out on the road with people despite all the bad reviews.
Negative experience: Here's the corrected version: Akbar (the test drive instructor) is the worst and most unprofessional part of this place. He intentionally fails students and says, “See you next time” to make more money. He instructs you to take a highway exit when you’re only 200 meters away and driving in the far left lane with heavy traffic. He’s against you from the start, has a strong accent that makes it hard to understand him, and provides poor guidance. He failed my partner, and it seems she’s not the only one. Don’t waste your time at this registry; find another one without Akbar.

Negative experience: My wife went in and needed blue cross forms filed, we were told to go to the registry’s. The guy got super snarky and rude and said the clinics have no clue what they are doing and they only do it for over 65. The guy was super super rude. His demenor was so so poor. I used to come and do our fleet registration here. I have now decided to put our bussiness elsewhere. Find another place folks, send a message. Poor poor customer service here.

Negative experience: Tons of negative reviews about one person AKBAR already must be a reason behind it!! Let me tell you: 1) AKBAR Deliberately speaks so soft that you cant hear what he says 2) AKBAR gives No prior intimation for taking exits or turns then blames driver for failing 3) AKBAR is Arrogant and has rude behaviour. 4) Caught him marking offences which didn't happen in the first place and then he would build up a story to prove it!!! Every single person is telling the same damn thing about him still don't understand why the registry is turning a blind eye!!! Drive test failure reason should be reasonable and convincing!! Akbar literally builds up a scenario and then gives you penalty because he knows there is nothing to track his wrong doings!!! He knows whatever he marks will be taken into consideration hence he will fail you even if you have been driving well since ages!!! Good job earning money while exploiting new drivers in the name of 'retake driving test'

Negative experience: I will not recommend this place for road test the instructor Akbar fail my son twice for the most stupid reason we paid both times for the road test $185 and the car rental $85 that he speaks softly and don't give proper instruction I won't recommend him doing any road test for anyone because he will fail you DONT GO FOR ROAD TEST with Akbar and it seems like there is no other instructor there because we got him each time... and if we knew it was gonna be him the second time we wouldn't have booked but you don't know until the day you show up and at that point you cannot cancel the road test as you won't get a refund its a money pit taking your road test with him...

Negative experience: This location keeps denying my daughter Id...There is a ton of proof I give for being our address including our property tax bill and other letters. My daughter doesnt get a lot of mail. And this depot is always almost empty every time I go. I think its because they don't actually wanna do their job. Daughter can't get a job or anything without Id and they keep denying her. She is a canadian Citzen and keep getting denied. I think they might be racist too.
Fantastic experience: Had my road test with Zach today and passed from the 1st try. He was very patient and gave clear instructions on the road. After the test he explained where I need to improve. The staff was very nice and helpful. Highly recommend this registry for the road test or any other services.

Negative experience: Wouldn’t recommend this place for a road test. This was my second time taking the test with the same examiner (Akbar) and from the beginning he made me feel even more nervous than I already am. He gives the worst directions at the worst time without letting the driver understand his surroundings. Making a left turn within 100 meters from the signal isnt ideal and then putting me down even further saying “I told you to make a left” doesn’t help the driver at all it just boosts your ego. I get it that this is all about the money because not only I paid 185 for the test but also 85 for the car twice for both road tests. This is just their way of helping the registry’s business. DONT GO HERE.

Negative experience: i went to register new vehicle yesterday and transfer registration from old vehicle - i opted to get a new liscense plate - when got home noticed that they mistakenly had my canceled old plate # listed as the plate for my new vehicle - no problem went back today to have their mistake corrected and the new plate to be on the registration - the manager informed was a, 15$ charge! like really to correct your mistake? wow this manager needs to upgrade his customer service skills-unbelievable to charge me for their mistake - i wud give zero stars if possible

Fantastic experience: Passed my road test here on the 2nd try. i failed the first time because i was too slow and too fast. The examiner explained it to me properly why I failed. On the 2nd try the same examiner was assigned to me, I forgot to get his name. I made some minor mistakes like slowing down unnecessarily but he explained it to me and corrected my mistakes. When I asked to see the rules for my rejection, I was treated very rude, and I didn't get any justification. After my waste of time here, I went to a different registry, and the renewal was done immediately without any problems.

Fantastic experience: I did my test on Friday Nov 17 and my examiner was zach. He was a nice guy who didn't make me feel nervous. I am really grateful to him because he rescheduled ny appointment from thursday to friday as my brake lights were not working. This was my 2nd attempt as my first attempt was with Akbar, a very rude person who made me feel like I didn't know how to drive.I feel lucky to have him as my examiner. Negative experience: Why does one teller tell you need a form / letter and then the next teller changes that policy 30 or so days later. With over 25 vehicles in my fleet I will go somewhere where there is a consistent process.
Negative experience: I work with adults with disabilities and often have to help my client's get ID because they don't remember or know how to renew thier IDs before they expire. In this instance I was working with an individual who did just this, so we popped in here to get the ID renewed. However this individual has appointed guardians through the courts so this person could not present a peice of mail with their physical address just the appointed guardians office location. I tried to ask for help on what we needed to do to get the ID, the woman behind the desk litteraly shrugged her shoulders and said I dont know and stated the government worker from the guardians office need to come down to do this. I told the woman the government is not going to come here to get one person their ID and that there must be a solution. The woman just shooed us out the door refusing to put forth orth any extra effort into helping us. We left and went to the registry on 52 and they spent nearly the whole day helping us ,calling the government line to get us answers. Thanks to them we obtained the ID. I would never recomend this registry to anyone they are useless and lazy. I highly suggest the other registry on 52

Negative experience: Went in for a bill of sale. The line was almost out the door. I asked the gentleman at the desk for a quick copy. I told me I have to wait in line. Which would make sense if I was actually here to do something in that regard. But all I needed was a bill of sale. It takes 2 seconds to pass it to me. Instead this POS made me wait 30min in line for it. Biggest scum in the world is that Indian guy that works here
Well unfortunately the alberta government no longer provides bill of sales to any of the offices so we have to print them out and if customers are being served then you have to unfortunately wait in line for them now. Or the other option would be to print them out from home.

Negative experience: Worst ever, one time I had to take the driving test, the tester removed multiple points for one mistake. Instead of loosing 10 points I lost 30! For one same mistake. It's ok to fail, but judging a mistake before happening is crazy.. However, not a great place for a driving test at this place

Negative experience: I’m not racist but this east Indian guy is so rude. I thought he just had a bad day the first time I registered my business, but the second time I went for my car registration, he is still mean. I just asked twice because I can’t understand him much and with his accent, he raised his voice and asked me if I have hearing problem. He’s not good for that position, next time I will report you to your manager. Other staffs seem so nice.
Fantastic experience: The Registry Depot is located in the large strip mall on 17 Avenue SE near the Calgary CO-OP store. I had to get a new license plate and a handicapped placard for a new car I had recently purchased. The place was packed with alot of different requests from renewing a drivers license to a obtaining a marriage license. This office is always very busy but the staff are all very knowledgeable and the line moves at a good pace. I was only in line for 20 minutes or so and during that time I received excellent customer service and a smile from the nice lady who helped me. One issue I might mention is to make sure you have ALL of your documentation with you right from the get go to finish your business at the counter faster. It helps the staff and makes the line move and you are out the door in good time.

Negative experience: Terrible place that does not do their jobs properly as I explain - So I went to this registry to get my learners passed my first try then went to get my card and they told me I had something saying I couldn’t get it printed to me until I proved I was a citizen even though a couple months before they had issued my Goverment ID and I had lost my citizen ship documents years ago so I believed I couldn’t get my licence till I waited for my citizen ship documents and the Goverment wait time is almost a year so I did some readership of my own and web to a different registry and they saw my Alberta ID and issued me a licence right there. The people here are awful definitely do not recommend coming here for anything it’s worth a trip to another registry
Negative experience: So, my dad he waited in line for 20-25 mins. The lady mentioned him the clerk who deal with this matter is on break. Ali is his name he was so disrespectful he made him feel so belittle in front of everyone. Disgusting behavior I hope you read your reviews. Not once he did same thing twice with him.

Negative experience: Don't waste your time here, better off finding a different location. Been to this location a few times, some good experiences but mainly bad experiences overall. Giving it a 1* for a reason, poor organization setting, poor communication, some rude employees but some are nice and understanding. Went in and wanted to ask a quick question before proceeding in line (which was at the entrance door) and had to wait in line which is understandable but wasted my time completely which could have been prevented. Waited in line for half hour while 2 employees weren't doing anything to help speed the line and 2 lines ended up forming (which was just not organized) making the people in line agitated and confused. After it was my turn, my daughter needed to do the learners test and was told no because it was 4:30. I told them they wasted my time and to put a sign notifying customers about this situation so that others would be more aware. This place needs to change they're ways. As a person whose worked in customer service industry, this place is bull****.
Negative experience: Stood in line for 20-25 minutes. When I reached the counter I was informed that I was missing something in a very rude and ignorant manner. Guy is on some kind of power trip, enjoying the fact he can control this process and be a bully. No sympathy or explanation. He also didn't mention a form I could have completed as an alternative solution to the problem. Another registry in town did and this all could have avoided had the agent cared even slightly. I was just sent away. Will never step foot in there again.
Negative experience: I have never been treated with more disrespect at a registry office in my lifetime went to go answer a business call and they gave me a bunch of grief and I ended up getting nothing out of them and told them I'm not going to spend my money where I'm being treated like this. I would advise if you want good treatment to not visit this facility.
Negative experience: Please, please take this warning and do not attempt your road test here. Examiner was rude and off putting and did nothing to make me feel comfortable. Obviously I failed and do take ownership of my mistakes however I am left feeling like it was a transaction more than a test and 70/75 points were highly questionable. After the test he said “you missed those two things ok” and showed me two auto fails. He then said ok have good day and exited the vehicle without giving an opportunity for me to ask nor did he explain a single mistake or failure point to me. I am left not knowing what to improve or work on and can’t help but say this was an obvious cash grab. I ignored previous warnings on these reviews and now am out $184 plus another test I’ll have to take. Do not take the road test here. There are other places with much better reviews. Just dont. EDIT; took another exam day after and passed with 0 problems. Showed my test sheet from AKBAR from here to the guy and he said there’s no way and it wasn’t fair. His words not mine.
Fantastic experience: I've been here several times and it's the only registry I go to because the lineups are shorter. The service was great always. Some people think it's okay to say hateful and horrible things online. This is the sad part of the internet - you can slander with no consequence. However there is a God in heaven we are accountable to and he will give us as our deeds and words deserve one day.

They were doing very racist comments towards my family just because we have an accent and that should be considered a priority but when I tried to complaint they just told me “sure, talk to the government to see if they will do something about it”. Negative experience: I am very disappointed with the service I received at this registry. The manager doesn't know how to treat their customers with good attitude. One of the employee gave me a document to sign in order to register a vehicle. When I got back, he said the document was useless and ripped it into pieces in front of me. Fantastic experience: Have had the pleasure of being served by a couple different employees, they have all been polite, friendly and helpful. I don’t find their prices quite as outrageous as most places these days. Just ordered a child birth certificate, was told at a couple other places it would be $86 and some odd cents. Here it was a solid $50. I had the one gentleman also help me with the application, had he not pointed something out I would have gotten the wrong document.
Negative experience: I have been using this registry for 35 years, the odd mishap but nothing that was terrible until today. I went in last week Wed. April 5th to ask a question, the lady I spoke to checked on the computer and gave me the information I needed. Forward to today April13th. I go in with the paperwork I need and I'm told not good enough. I explained that the lady last week had checked on her computer. This lady didn't check her computer, she asked someone else who also said no. I mentioned to her all the info I had gotten over the last week (online and emails with govt) and she was starting to get frustrated. I then stated that maybe I was misinformed to keep her calm, and she stated she could be misinformed to. HUH? This is your job!!. So I paid $50.00 for something else(that i dont need) and when I stated it said online it was only $20.00, she told me to apply online. I mentioned to her you cant according to Gov't of Alberta web site. She said yes you can. Later that day I called the Gov't of Alberta and was told what I already knew was correct. Lady from Gov't asked for name of registry and I gave to her. (wonder if there's a place online with govt we can raise an issue). I phoned registry depot back and relayed to the man that answered the phone what the gov't told me, which is what I stated at the registry this morning. I got the distinct impression he could care less. I renewed my registration there last Nov. and the same people were there that had been there for years. Last week when I went in, didn't recognize anybody. Did someone else take over? Anyways, I don't think the staff is very knowledgeable or trained properly on what they need and should know. I will not be returning, sad really..... Train your staff......
Negative experience: Ridiculous that you can dial the office # at 3 pm & no one answers the call! You get a message that tells you " the person you are calling is not taking calls". Why is there no one available to answer questions? Not everyone can just drive drive over & stand in line to ask something that could be answered over the phone.
Negative experience: This employee guy that work as a public service in this government company, was so DISRESPECTFUL and RUDE.. here's what happended, i was trying to applied my driver license Gdl into Advanced driver license. He was dealing in his computer ,do typing and printing regarding my application. After that , i thought it was done when he gave me a piece of form. I asked him, if it's done, in a manner way, when he answered me back, "did i said to you you are done!"... i let that passed, but i'm a bit annoyed the way he answered sarcastically. And second time he keep going his job do typing and printing go somewhere, and hold a piece of form that i'm about to fill up,, this REALLY DISRECTFUL, the way he gave instructions signing up the form was so bossy to hear, that'why i replied to him, in a sarcastic way this time, like "ok! Good job!!!,, while doing signing the FORM, this DISRESPECTFUL employee guy talked to his fellow guy in their language, in a sharp tune in front of me. In my thought this DISRECTFUL employee guy dont really stop. So, when i'm done signed up the form, gave it to this disrespectful guy while my eyebrows up.. Waiting3x, the last scene, was this.after this RESPECTFUL guy gave the paper, hardly grabbed the form, and asked him, isn't done? Then again, answered me back."did i say its done? And then told me he doesn'r like the way i grabbed the paper and i'm disrespectful with my action. And pointing me the sign at the door to be RESPECTFUL, and said to go to other counter in a rude way. . WelI i wil tell you this you were the one who triggered the situation because of disrespectful action towards me. You were trying to humiliate me to other people that time, you talked to me in a rudeway ... IF HE IS BEING SENSITIVE THE WAY I GRABBED THE PAPER THEN HE SHOULD BE SENSITIVE TOO THE WAY HE ANSWER THE CLIENTS QUESTION. IF HE WANTED TO BE RESPECTED HE SHOULD KNOW TO SHOW ONE.

Negative experience: Be careful going here and make sure they don't pocket your cash like they did to me Only had one ticket when I registered my car payed it all now there saying the exact same ticket wasn't payed but doctored in a bunch of 15$ tickets to make up the amount I payed
Negative experience: Steer clear of this place at all costs! Save yourself the time and frustration. The woman with short, grey, curly hair sitting towards the end is consistently the most disrespectful and unhelpful registry person we've ever encountered. It's astonishing that we ended up with her every time we visited. She struggles to grasp simple questions and becomes defensive when seeking clarification. There was a particular instance where she outright ignored my questions and responded only to my boyfriend (he’s white and I’m Asian), prompting me to call out her disrespectful behavior. She said she could wherever she wanted and insisted on us moving to another booth. Today, my boyfriend needed to register a license plate, and she once again caused issues. She falsely claimed he couldn't register due to a suspension on his records from BC, a detail we were unaware of, and provided a hotline number, which turned out to be for the Sexual Assault Help Line. After verifying with the authorities, it was confirmed as a mistake. The lady on the phone was helpful and assured us there was no such issue on my boyfriend's records. When we questioned the registry worker, she admitted to the mistake, made my boyfriend go through unnecessary steps, and sent him home to get his physical license, despite previous stalls indicating faxing was sufficient. When we returned at 4:50 PM, all their computers conveniently went "down." Such perfect timing, especially considering similar complaints in other reviews. This registry office has proven to be the worst we've encountered.
Fantastic experience: I really don't understand the negative reviews. I've been to this registry twice in the last year, and both times the service was friendly, courteous, and helpful. They do a fantastic job, and they are my go-to registry from now on. Thank you, Registry Depot. Keep up the great work!
Fantastic experience: I hadn't been to an Alberta registry in about 6 years and I remember how it used to be so I was bracing myself for the worst but it was so quick and painless I left kinda in shock. It took less than 15 minutes to stand in line, apply for ID, and take a picture.
Negative experience: I went there to take my first learners exam the staff were ok. The second time i went they told me to wait because the systems were down. After 10 minutes of waiting the systems were still down. I went to go talk to one of the employees and got told to wait for an hour which doesnt make sense because the same day i went other people did the learners exam like normal. I went to go talk to an employee again and apparently my info that got typed in the first time i went was wrong. One of the employees messed up my name and my birthday even though it was clear on my passport. I was there for almost 2 hours and never got to do the learners exam the second time. Do better it’s frustrating
Negative experience: Me and my brother went there for cooperation work. Manager kali was so rude and walked away from serving us. Place should be shut down from govt of Alberta
Negative experience: So I came after 2 weeks to take my 5 learners test just to find out the computers are still down! And no clarity is ever provided for when a computer is available or not. This is way too crazy.
Positive experience: To book my first class 5 GDL test i checked online, filled all the lines, payment options and booked a date for the next day. Failed my 1st test and passed the 2nd, the registry wasn’t busy in the morning on a monday and they offer rentals for around 70 or you could bring your car with no windshield damage, and of course no unsafe car features such as headlights etc…i suggest you practice ahead of time before trying to obtain ya license.
Negative experience: I have bought many cars over my years of driving and came here to do registration and the manger is saying my bill of sale is not good cuz it’s a copy. Well news the banks take the original one and I’ve always had a copy. Why is this so hard this time to get registration. And customer service lacks yet again.
Negative experience: I went to this registry to order a new birth certificate that I needed mailed to my house in the US, where I will be for the next few months. Despite the form clearly asking for COUNTRY as part of the mailing address for delivery, the clerk said she didn’t think it could be mailed outside of Alberta. I asked why it would ask for Country, to which she shrugged her shoulders. After wandering around for 5 minutes asking the other clerks, she returned still seemingly confused and said she had to call the government to confirm. Standing there for 10+ minutes while she sat on hold, I finally suggested that I would just have it sent to my house in Calgary to avoid the headache. After a few more nonsensical questions from the clerk, it seemed like all was well. The application says that the fee would be $20.00 + any registry fees. Typically registry surcharges for a $20.00 item would be under $5.00, but was told that this registry charges a $30.00 fee on top (even though when I looked later, their online pricing guide says it's a $25.00 surcharge). Not sure how the government allows registries to charge a 150% surcharge but this is a great example of when decentralization fails. Not only was there a 150% surcharge, but to add insult to injury, they also wanted to charge another sizeable credit card fee that’s far higher than what any company would ever pay in merchant services fees, meaning it's just another profit line for them. I ended up just walking out as I’d rather go through the hassle of sending the form in by mail than be extorted by these imbiciles.
