Fantastic experience: After taking lessons with Vancouver Driving School I passed my road test today on the first try! I highly recommend taking lessons with this school. My instructor was Shah, he was very patient, kind, knowledgeable and calm. After his instruction I am more confident in my driving skills and on the road. As well, the school was very accommodating in times when I needed to adjust any lessons. I am so grateful I took lessons here. Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I had a fantastic experience from start to finish with Shafi and the VDS. The process of scheduling lessons was very easy and they work with your schedule and timelines. Shafi is very patient and calm as an instructor, I was super nervous but he gave me practical advice that helped me pass my test and focus on being a good driver. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: Two years ago, I came to Vancouver and decided to get my BC Class 5 driver’s license. I tried one of those smaller driving schools, and unfortunately, it was a disappointing experience. The instructor reduced my confidence instead of building it and pushed me to book more sessions. They also insisted I take the test in Burnaby, so I had to travel over an hour by transit. Frustrated, I gave up on the process. Later, a friend introduced me to Mr. Shafi from Vancouver Driving School, and everything turned around. He’s calm, patient, and an excellent coach. With his help, I rebuilt my confidence and even started driving Modo car share on my learner’s license. After five sessions, I felt ready. I failed my first test because the road signs here are so different, but I passed easily on my second attempt thanks to Mr. Shafi. Ratings: Driving School: 4.5/5 – Great experience overall, though email response times could improve. They always respond, but it takes a bit of time. Mr. Shafi (Instructor): 5/5 – Highly recommend! He’s the best, and my friend also had the same experience. Thank you to both Vancouver Driving School and Mr. Shafi for such a great experience!

Fantastic experience: I have a lot of driving anxiety, and thankfully my instructor Ashraf was very kind and patient with me, never getting angry despite the many mistakes I made on the road. I began feeling comfortable behind the wheel, and the more I practiced and all of Ashraf's helpful instruction allowed me to pass my class 7 road test and get my N! I highly recommend Vancouver Driving School!

Fantastic experience: I took 25 classes with Shafi over the span of approx. 6 months. I went from not knowing how to turn on a car, to getting my N with flying colours. Shafi was kind, professional, and patient. He created a welcoming environment were I was encouraged to ask questions and learn from my mistakes. In booking my many classes, I had a long email thread with Aeiman, the Office Admin. He was always very professional and kind. I am grateful that he accommodated the lessons to my schedule as needed, even allowing me to book lessons months and months in advance. I was terrified to drive and could not have done it without the awesome team at the Vancouver Driving School. I will gladly go back in 2 years to brush up for my class 5 license. Fantastic experience: The booking system is a little frustrating - I was told I would be picked up at the wrong address, and emailing back and forth for availability is a hassle. However, Thomas the driving instructor was very effective and efficient in his instruction. I felt well prepared for the Class 5 test, and Thomas was very helpful in the process.

Fantastic experience: Ashraf was the best instructor I have had!! With two weeks of classes I finally passed my road test! Ashraf was very encouraging and chill vibes in general during our lesson times! His instructions were clear and tips were very helpful! Ashraf always have a big smile during classes which really put me at ease from being nervous about driving to slowly be coming more confident!

Fantastic experience: I was nervous, I lacked confidence, and I felt lost with my goal of learning to drive and getting my license. I had my learners for over 15 years as I moved countries and provinces and never had the opportunity to build good driving habits; I so badly wanted to get my license but friends and family gave me all their bad habits and gave weary approximations of what might be tested on the driving exam. I knew I needed an expert. Shafi was the best instructor I could have asked for. He was patient, communicative, and he gave great feedback as my skills improved. He was incredibly knowledgeable and helped me hone my car handling and safety skills in preparation for the exam. He was also accommodating with scheduling as I scrambled to get my exam date moved up with ICBC. I passed my driving exam on my first try thanks to Shafi. I HIGHLY recommend Vancouver Driving School for anyone of any age, but especially those older new drivers who have a lot of mixed feelings about getting behind the wheel. He was so thorough and kind, and taught me everything there is to know about driving, from smoothly speeding up and slowing down (at the very beginning) to highway driving. Fantastic experience: I went back and forth about which driving school to pick (there are so many), and I am SO glad I went with VDS! If I could put more than 5 stars, I truly would. Instilled so much confidence in me from day one and taught me so many tips and tricks that are a game changer when it comes to the road test. I bought the 10 lesson and road test package with minimum previous driving experience and passed first time. Vancouver driving school was very accommodating to my needs as I gave them a very small window (about 6 weeks) to squeeze the 10 lessons and the road test into.

They are all super friendly and accommodating. They went above and beyond to support me when I needed to arrange a last-minute road test package after some issues with ICBC (huge thanks to Ashraf for helping out with that!).

Positive experience: I had instructor Gang and he was very nice and chill! Passed my test first try at Point Grey. Though I was nervous before my test, I felt very comfortable during the test as he taught me everything required and beyond. One thing I didn’t like much was the fact that the school will change the lesson times less than a day before the lesson but overall I recommend :)

Fantastic experience: I had lessons with Shah, Shafi and Ashraf. All 3 of them were great and helped me pass my test on the first attempt. They are great at teaching the basics and helping you learn to stay calm when driving. They were particularly helpful when it came to giving me reference points to use when performing maneuvers like pulling over, parallel parking and reverse stall parking.

Fantastic experience: I passed my road test for N on my first try! I had no driving experience so was full of doubt, but I took 15 lessons over one month and was able to pass the road test. Thomas is an amazing instructor! He is patient and does an amazing job preparing for the road test. I will recommend my sisters to take the same lessons as well!

Fantastic experience: I took 10 lessons with Shafi and passed my road test after the first try. Shafi is very knowledgeable, gives good tips and reference points and always points out any mistakes so that I could improve and pass my test. I drove with him to most of the tricky areas and it made the test much easier. Scheduling was pretty good as well as I was mostly free only weekends and they always found times on weekends

Fantastic experience: Preetinder is an excellent teacher! He is patient and easy to understand. I tried other schools and instructor but they were not as detailed and patient as this one. I passed my N in the Point Grey location! Very happy. I will book them again to learn highway next and to prepare for my Class 5.

Fantastic experience: Passed my Class 7 on the first try. Majority of my lessons were with Shah. Amazing teacher, gives good constructive criticism, he keeps the lesson light hearted & stress free. Fantastic experience: I had never driven before but Ashraf was a fantastic instructor and I cannot recommend him enough. I had much anxiety starting out but he was patient and very astute; he's very keen to detail and has spot-on constructive feedback to help you succeed as a safe, and capable, driver. My main concern before driving was that the road always appeared to be a chaotic place of disorder, but Ashraf taught me well to understand the road, what is happening around me, and how to safely navigate it. I've been driving multiple times weekly since I got my N in March and I can perfectly understand everything that is happening around me and never get anxiety anymore, and that is in special thanks to the excellent classes I received from Ashraf. Fantastic experience: I passed my N road test on my first try with little to no mistake! Shafi is an amazing instructor and I appreciate how kind and patient he is. I was a total newbie and an extreme nervous wreck behind the wheels, but thanks to Shafi continuous support, I can now drive with a lot of confidence. I signed up for the Beginner Plus package, and by the 13th or 14th class, I felt ready. Taking additional lessons for highway driving, downtown driving and night-time driving boosted my confidence as well, as I feel more ready to drive in any road condition. Fantastic experience: I cannot emphasize enough how great an instructor and educator Shah is! I was an extremely anxious driver, had tried lessons unsuccessfully before, and avoided driving for years. Shah was patient, took the time to break down maneuvers and explain the logic behind them, and calmly reviewed and practiced scenarios so that I could feel prepared and confident despite any anxiety. I honestly never thought I would ever learn how to parallel and reverse stall park, much less pass my N on the first try! If you're a nervous driver, do yourself a favour and book lessons with Shah. I guarantee you won't regret it!

Fantastic experience: I needed to convert my South African license to a BC Class 5 license, so I researched and decided VDS was the best value for money. And I'm glad I chose them because I passed my driver's test on the first try! I had a lovely experience with my instructor, Thomas, who went above and beyond simply teaching the rules of the road to ensure I was in the right mental state to ace my test. I appreciated his kind, humorous personality and his tendency not to spoon-feed, but rather to let the student work situations out for themselves and build their instincts. He also uses a whiteboard and toy car to recreate scenarios and talk them through with you, which helped me visualize my mistakes and brainstorm better courses of action. I booked the Basic 2 package, consisting of five 1-hour lessons, a 50-minute warmup and rental of the car for my driver's test. This was the perfect package for me as someone with some driving experience in South Africa who needed to gain experience driving and reading signs and situations in BC. I also booked a last-minute extra lesson two days before my test to bolster my confidence with the help of Aeiman in the admin department. He had been helping throughout the process with a few reschedules, and he was always prompt and understanding. Overall, it was a great experience and I would recommend the school to other international drivers.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with both the school scheduling my lessons and my instructor, Shafi, driving around Vancouver. I booked a few lessons as a refresher course to transfer my license to BC. After several hours with Shafi I passed a class 5 road test in the first attempt with a good score that I am attaching to my review. Shafi went above and beyond to make sure I am well prepared to pass the test what, taking ICBC road tests schedule, saved me a lot of time. I definitely recommend the school.

VDSI instructors teach the fundamentals of driving, as well as ways to stay safe, identify hazards, and drive defensively. Expect to be taken through test routes and complete pre-trip inspections before the road test. All in all, I can't recommend VDSI enough.

His personalized approach, combined with deep knowledge and patience, makes learning to drive a positive and confidence-boosting experience. Fantastic experience: I had a positive experience with Vancouver Driving School. I had 10 lessons and felt much more confident behind the wheel at the end. My instructor, Gang was calm and encouraging, which I found very helpful and gave me great tips for the road test. I would recommend!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been with at least 6 different schools and instructors and this was definitely the best. Shah was an amazing instructor who managed to keep me calmed and explain everything nicely. I got my license after two lessons with him!

Fantastic experience: Shafi is an excellent driving instructor! He is patient, kind and reassuring. He takes his time explaining everything to you. He gives lots of great cues for mastering parallel parking. He really helped me bring out my confidence behind the wheel. I would recommend Shafi as your instructor. I passed on my first attempt!!!

Fantastic experience: They provide really nice instructors to coach you. And with every lesson your confidence will build more and more so you can be ready with the road test. They will also point out some tricky spot and school/playground zone/bike lane near your road test venue so you won't panic and make a mistake during the road test. Just be willing to learn and you can pass the road test in your first try.

Fantastic experience: I had Shafi as my instructor and passed my class 7 road test on my first try! He was extremely nice and informative. I will definitely come back and try and get him again before I get my class 5. He is number 1!

Fantastic experience: I would recommend Vancouver driving school to build your driving skills and confidence. Gang was a calm, clear and knowledgeable instructor that knew how to guide me through each practice session. Passed my class 5 first time around. Thank you for all your help Gang!

Negative experience: The experience was quite abysmal. The instructors were often disorganized and were not good teachers - one to one guidance was lacking with all instructors, and it was quite clear the instructors were clearly not fit to handle new students. In particular, I remember Gang being extremely rude and impatient during his lessons. A lot of shouting which is unimaginable for a service in the private sector. Other instructors also seemed to be very confused and seemed to lack teaching abilities. I've been told I may not get my license for a VERY long time. In fact, I got my license in 10 lessons with another instructor of a different company. Scheduling was irregular to say the best and was an absolute train wreck. Sudden cancellations and delays were quite often and lesson rescheduling taking months at times. All in all, terrible management and sub-par quality of education. Find somewhere else and try to get recommendations from people you know and not online. Reviews can be deceiving. This was one year ago already. I hope things got better.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Vancouver Driving School, the scheduling was very flexible and the administrative staff were quick to respond. Shah was a great instructor and I passed my exam on the first try. Highly recommend!

Negative experience: [1] I feel that it is bad form to text and/or use Google Calendar during a lesson: -1/5. [2] Preetinder canceling with 1 hr of notice: 0/5. [2] School canceling / rescheduling lessons with less than 1 day of notice, but their own Cancelation Policy enforces a 36 hr minimum *for students*: -1/5. [3] School telling me they knew about scheduling changes a week ago, but only told me the day before a lesson: 0/5.

Fantastic experience: Had wonderful experience with Vancouver Driving School. Instructor was polite and professional. And helps you not only to pass the test but makes you a good driver. I passed my road test in the first attempt and i give a big credit to my instructor from Vancouver Driving School.

Fantastic experience: I would like to thank Vancouver Driving School administrators for having such wonderful driving instructors in their team like Gang and Shafi. They were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They both explained me the exact details that I needed to pay attention most about my driving. Especially today right before my road test Shafi was very encouraging and supportive. During my warm up lesson he went over every single detail and prepared me for the road test in the best way which I really appreciated. By the way I passed my road test with flying colors.
